on top of getting over-​charged and not getting some of the work done I was charged for– they neglected to tighten key bolts connecting my chassis to the front end gear (upper control arm). the socket was still attached to the loose bolt! (i have this all in writing from an emergency stop I had to make at a meineke — they are the ones who found the socket) I brought the socket to ED’s. «oh yeah, that’s joses…» awesome… I drove 5000 miles with everything slowly slipping and meshing until my front passenger tire was leaning in like a wheel chair tire– I have since had to replace almost everything in the front end as this ended up stressing all the ball joints and moving pieces.
on top of this I asked him to check the spark plugs; I brought them new wires, plugs and a new distributor cap. they changed everything except the plugs; I was told they were fine. I got about a day and a half of driving under my belt and had the check engine light come on and my vehicle started running crappy — a misfiring spark plug. i had to change them myself on the side of the road in Florida. they were toast– I can almost guarantee he didn’t check them.
you can’t even expect the bear minimum from these crooks.

My husband and I went here for a car repair and to our surprise they were very fast and affordable! They were very quick and very dependable plus the staff knew exactly what they were talking about. He told us we needed an oil change and come to find out without a coupon or anything we got an oil change for under $ 30! I highly recommend going here if you need to have work done on your car!

Ed’s Bluff Spring Auto is great for any type of service you need on your car. They are reliable and offer a great oil change for under $ 30. The service is quick and dependable. The mechanics are knowledgeable and won’t tell you that you need a repair for something unless you really do. I would recommend Ed’s to anyone.

Ed’s provides reliable car repair services and is a good place to get a fast and affordable oil change — regularly under $ 30! Other places charge $ 10– 20 more, unless you have a coupon or are making it in for some other special. They won’t sell you something you don’t need. If you go in needing something, that’s what you’re getting. Listen carefully if they tell you something’s up because they have staff who know what they are talking about.
They also have the advantage of being a local business! So let’s see — local business PLUS prices comparable or better than the big chains AND good customer service? Yup, that’s a win.

I took my 2007 Saturn ion to get an oil change and tires rotated I have to say I was impressed. Great customer service, friendly staff, and very knowledgeable. I went in and they were quick to greet me and answer any questions I had. I was happy because they didn’t try to offer me services that I didn’t need. They took my car back and serviced it. I was in and out in no time. Really couldn’t ask for anything more. Awesome service, great prices, and overall good experience. I will defiantly go back.

I went in for an oil change at Ed’s and had my tires rotated. The price was fair and the service quick. Ed said that the windshield wipers needed to be changed soon and I had been noticing that was an issue with the last rain. Again, the price of the wipers was fair (did not price gouge, like they do at the McAuto repair shops) and I was happy to get one more task off my plate (I’ve installed wipers in the rain!!). The waiting area was clean and comfortable and I was happy surfing the net on my phone. Check out was quick and friendly. I’ll be back again.

Ed’s Bluff Spring Auto is one of those local Austin businesses that has been a long time established in the community since the 80’s. They provided me with quick service and at a reasonable price. Located down in south Austin its a great stop to get you car fixed up nice South Austin style.

My BMW was constantly in need of repair UNTIL I took it to Ed’s Auto. Ed not only put in a new transmission, he tuned it up to perform like new. The service was fast and he explained the repairs in a way that I could understand. I would definitely recomend this shop to anyone looking for an honest auto service facility.

I have been meaning to sit down and write this review for a while, as I have been taking my car to Ed for over a year now. I’m not sure what these people’s expectations were, but I find it very hard to believe that Ed would misdiagnose an problem, or be deceitful about anything. He works fast, gets the problem taken care of, and his rates are actually very reasonable considering the quality of work he does. I wouldn’t take my car anywhere else, and I definitely recommend him!

DO NOT GO HERE. I should have gone to Unilocal before taking my cousin’s vehicle to this place. They misdiagnosed the problem, then told me one pickup time only to change it by a day later, then over charged me and in the end the car broke down again the VERY next day.
On the plus the owner seems like a nice guy, but i’m not sure why they seem to take advantage of customers.
I would not recommend these guys for any major repair job.

My car broke down on a weekend trip to Austin and San Antonio. Luckily i got it running in enough time to get it to Ed’s. I dropped the car off at 9am and he made it clear that i shoudlnt wait for him to take a look. Luckily i had a ride back to where i was staying! It took 2 hrs for him to tell me it could be the Fuel Pump but he can try to replace the Inline Filter first. I gave him the go ahead and it took another 2 hrs for him to realize that he would have to replace the Fuel Pump for some reason i still cannot figure out.
That should have been my clue to RUN! Instead wanting to get everyone home i gave him the go ahead. He said it would take a few hours and should be done by 5pm. Right around 5pm he called to tell me that there was a problem and he would probably be done tomorow by Noon.
Well, Noon came and went the next day and finally by 2pm it was done and I was $ 700.00 lighter. Needless to say i was not impressed. Unfortuantely, when your car is on the fritz and your in a different city you get stuck like this sometimes.
As an update to this — a few days later in Houston my car broke down again on the freeway. We had to have it towed and found out that Ed never replaced a crucial filter that can damage the fuel pump nor did he connect the pump correctly. I was out yet another $ 200 to get it done right this time. I wish i could give less than a star for ED!

I had an overall positive experience here. I needed to get my A/​C fixed and Ed gave me a very reasonable deal and a quick fix. Also, when I called him to let him know my refrigerant needed to get more fully charged, he took care of it at no extra charge.

Unfortunately I really can’t say a single good thing about Ed’s Auto Service. My car broke down on the side of the road and, desperate, I called Ed’s because they had a business card in the business where I took refuge. I was going on vacation the next day, so I told Ed not to rush, but just to get my car ready by the time I got back. He said no problem.
Well, I called Ed just before I got back into town and was told that they’d definitely have my car ready in time, but, look, the price had gone up. I asked him why the price had gone up and why it wasn’t ready already and he didn’t have a good answer and said he would call me back in 30 minutes. He didn’t call me back.
I called him back and got some more run-​around and was told he would call me in 30 minutes. He didn’t call me back. Rinse and repeat for six hours and throw in a few price increases (to the tune of tripling the cost) here and there.
I finally got Ed to admit to me that he hadn’t even looked at the car one hour before I got into town. After this he agreed to give me a free oil change for my troubles. What Ed? No way, knock off $ 200 on the price. Ok, ok, he’s going to knock off $ 200 off the price and he’ll call me at 10am tomorrow to finalize everything.
I guess you can figure this out, but Ed didn’t call the next morning at 10 am. I finally got ahold of him and the price had risen again! I said, «I thought you were going to discount this for me?» And he replies, «I’ll take off $ 150.» But you told me $ 200 last night. «Oh, well I had already discounted the price $ 50 and just didn’t tell you.» Yeah, right.
Ed is the most dishonest businessman I’ve ever dealt with. Don’t waste your time like I did.
