Diamonds In The Ruff

Been taking my pets to Shelly at Diamonds in the Ruff for 10 years. Shelly is awesome, knows her pet clients and their parents. Always knowledgable and helpful.
Don’t trust my fur babies to anyone else, and you shouldn’t either !

I’ve been bringing Ginger to Diamonds in the Ruff since she was 3 months old, and Shelly is great with her. Shelly can be a bit «ruff» with humans; it’s apparent that her priority is working with dogs, and that’s what I want in a groomer. I see a couple comments from folks who seem butt-​hurt by the way Shelly communicates with people and that’s a shame because her forte is working with dogs– all dog personalities from playful puppy, to fearful adult to shy señor; if you pass on her becasue you dont feel special enough you’ll be missing out on a great groomer. Shelly has been understandably short with me when she’s super busy, but Ginger is happy, relaxed, and looks beautiful every single time she sees her, so I’m not going anywhere else. When my priority is the fur baby, I want someone to feel the same way. I can’t imagine what it’s like to spend every day catering to us folks who revolve around our dogs so kudos to Shelly for her hard work keeping our babies looking beautiful while dealing with such particular parents.

We took our Dog to Diamonds in the Ruff for an appointment on 11÷10÷15 and this was what my wife had to say: (I could not accompany them to the appt)

Shelly was in neat attire and she had a fabulous hairdo. When you take pride in yourself chances are you also take pride in your work. Well let me say Bam Bam came back with an awesome cut and I couldn’t help but cuddle with him most of the morning! He smelled super yummy! We are very satisfied with his grooming. We will be back! His little Mohawk was the perfect touch. Thank you Diamond In the Ruff!!»
If my quibbling wife can rave about this place, then it must be good!

We love Shelly and Diamonds in the Ruff! Madison, my teacup yorkie, is a handful! Madison always comes home trimmed beautifully, smelling delightful and wagging her tail. Truly, it is so hard to find a consistent groomer. We’ve been using Shelly for about two years and we’ve never been disappointed, EVER!
Shelly is the owner and sole groomer. She’s a friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, affordable groomer with a no big business BS. She remembers my dog — something all my other big business groomers never managed. The price never changes. The cut is always the same. Her old school style and small business attitude will keep us coming back!

This place in itself is a diamond in the rough! The place is pretty unassuming and Shelly is a very straight to the point kind of gal, but she just lit up when she interacted with my pup and that is all I can ask for! I went there before the 10am cut off to drop off my dog and when Shelly and I reviewed his vaccination records it turned out he was overdue to be immunized. Shelly let me know she couldn’t help me and was very apologetic about it.;She explained in detail why she absolutely needed the updated records and even gave me some tips on where to get his shots for cheap. She was never once rude about it, but she was very clear, which I totally understand as her being a responsible business owner that respects the law! Fine by me! I quickly made arrangements to get my pup up to date and brought him right back to Shelly, who even made the exception of taking him in an hour after the drop off time. She listened to what I wanted and did a great job with the cut! She also directly addressed the concerns I had, which is a testament to her efficiency. If you want a saccharine and bubbly groomer you probably won’t enjoy Shelly too much but if you want someone who is responsible and professional she is your girl. I won’t be taking my dog anywhere else from now on!

After dropping my pup off at a different groomer’s this morning — I felt I should write a review about this place (I used her once about a year ago).
She is RUDE. I can only imagine how she treated my dog while he was there waiting.
After seeing other people post the same thing, I had to pipe in as well.
As a small business owner, it should be important to you to treat people nicely. I don’t care how good of a job you may do at grooming.
I have taken my business elsewhere.

I have been taking my Lhasa Apso, Luci, to Diamonds in the Ruff for about 8 years. Prior to finding this place, my poor Luci would come home from the groomers covered with bloody nicks and cuts, Including the groomer at her vet’s office. (that groomer informed me Luci wriggled too much!)
Never once has Luci come back from Diamonds in the Ruff with a nick, cut or scratch and she comes home looking spiffy and wagging her tail. I think she likes it that Shelly picks her up and gives her cuddles and calls her «Pretty Girl»! :)
Shelly is very sweet and always professional and from day one has greeted Luci and I with a big smile. Luci is a handful and Shelly manages her beautifully and has always been accommodating. I give Diamonds in the Ruff a big thumbs up and Luci says Woof! !

We love Diamonds in the Ruff. I’ve been taking Gracie my schnoodle here to 2+ years. Every time we get great, friendly service and the cut we want!

LOVE this groomer. I found this place because it was near my house, but now I’m convinced that I will use this groomer forever even if I move across town. Shelley (the owner) does an incredible job. I have a very timid, shy and nervous Schnauzer, but I don’t have to worry at all because Shelley is great with her. She knows exactly how to handle my scared little pup… with kindness and ease. I can’t say enough good things about Diamonds in the Ruff.

We had another great experience at Diamonds in the Ruff! I love being able to support a local business, and Shelly is great with her. I find her shop to be cheery and homey, and I feel much better about leaving Penelope with her than in a sterile big box grooming factory. Penelope hates being groomed, but I trust Shelly to take good care of her!

How can this place only have 2 stars??? I took my dog there for the first time, and I could not have expected a better experience. Shelly was AMAZING. She did a wonderful job, and my dog is so happy… and it is about the dog, people, not you. It is NOT expensive, and Shelly is really nice. The only thing I can think is that either the reviewers have mistaken this place for another groomer, or they are from a competing business. But those bad reviews don’t matter… her clients know how amazing this place is and we’re very happy.
As for the experience, my dog had never been groomed (she is a short-​hair and I never thought it was needed…) but I could no longer deal with the drama of cutting her nails, so I took her simply for a nail trim. The wash and brush were just bonuses, but I am so glad we did it… my dog is actually more calm now from the bath! I was expecting her to be more anxious, but she is so chill.
So, don’t believe the negative reviews… there is no way that they are talking about the same place I went to yesterday.

Wow, surprised at the negatives. Shelly did take a while to warm up to me but she always does a great job with my very skittish schnauzer who had possibly been hit (brush shaped bruise on her back) by another groomer & she always calls me by noon to tell me Lacy is ready if i want to pick her up. I go there for my dog not to make friends so maybe I see Shelly’s no-​nonsense personality different. GREAT GROOMER!

Shelly is awesome, I take my two schnauzers to her for grooming and I’m always happy of her work. I live far South and I can’t see myself going to any groomer that is closer to us. I’ll drive the distance just to have her groom my two dogs.

Didn’t end up getting my dogs groomed because I couldn’t get past the rude/​unhelpful owner. All the negative reviews on here make perfect sense, and I should have read them first before I even called to schedule an appointment! Thanks, but there are plenty of other groomers that will be pleasant and even (gasp!) accommodating to their customers. If I’m treated so badly, can’t imagine how my dogs would be with no one there to see it!

Really poor customer service skills at this place. They get frustrated when you ask questions to try to understand the services they offer and the price. The cut was great after the second try. I had to ask them to cut again when I picked up. As a result it cost me much more in time, money, and hassle than I’ve ever experienced at a groomer (and I have 3 dogs).
I asked for a trim, but they weren’t really able to describe what a trim entailed. My old groomer had a menu on the wall, so you could easily select what level of grooming you needed. I said to trim face, feet, privates, and nail trim.
When I returned, it didn’t appear the butt area had been trimmed. That is why I took the dog back to get that trimmed. Once I was there, I said just go ahead and do an all over trim, because I didn’t want to have to return again any time soon.
As I said before, the cut after the second try was great. Having a menu of options with descriptions of what each option entailed would be a great help for new customers.

After reading several nice reviews about this place I decided to call and make an appointment for my mother’s schnauzer (whom I am keeping for a couple months). Whenever I called, the person who answered would hardly let me get a word in. I have never called a business and been treated quite that way… especially from the first point of contact. I was shocked. The person I spoke to said they could get her in on a Wednesday and I said ok what time can I drop her off and before I could even finish asking the question… she responded…“drop off time is between 8 and 10″…then I said well is there anyway I could bring her a little before 8 because I have to be at work at 8… she raised her voice and said «I OPEN AT 8!!!» I was so stunned at how she was being that I just said ok I will call you back and she just hung up. Not a good first impression at all! I have now made an appointment with a different groomer who was sweet as pie when I called!

What a wonderful, friendly, and professional groomer! A friend referred me to Shelly after my schauzer/​poodle mutt had a bad experience elsewhere. I’m so glad we were referred here.
So Shelley (owner/​groomer) was aware of my dog’s history, I told her that he’d apparently flipped out at the clippers during a previous grooming. She said it wouldn’t be a problem, not to worry, etc. When I picked him up only an hour later, she said my dog hadn’t been a problem at all. She said he was perfectly calm and happy.
He’s since been back to Shelly again and just like before, he had no problems. Every time I pick him up, he looks great and very happy. The cut is always what I ask for, the price is reasonable, and her warm, welcoming attitude is refreshing and appreciated.

The grooming job was fine, but when I picked him up in the afternoon, he peed forever. I mean it went on and on. He hadn’t been taken out all day. My dog was not taken care of. Next time I choose a groomer, I will be looking and asking about potty breaks.
