Since 1984, Dr. Nelson has been offering children, teens and adults the most advanced materials, equipment and techniques in orthodontics with the goal of assisting each patient in achieving healthy, functioning teeth and an inviting smile. Our office provides traditional braces, self-​ligating braces and highly aesthetic clear braces. Dr. Nelson is a certified Invisalign provider and offers Invisalign treatment to patients that want a virtually invisible option for straightening their teeth.

History

Established in 1984.

Dr. Nelson has been in the private practice of orthodontics for over 29 years. He started in a small office on Angus Road in North Austin, moving to a larger office not too far away on Jollyville Rd in 1989 after growing what would become an incredible practice full of amazing patients. In 2012, he opened a second practice in the Four Points area off FM 620 and RR 2222 to serve the families in the surrounding areas. He is proud to call this newest location Four Points Orthodontics and his permanent home where he hopes to continue to grow and build great relationships with the families, friends and business in the area.

Dr. Nelson was born in Lake Charles, LA & has resided in Texas since the age of three. He grew up in Bay City, TX & attended Bay City High School. After graduation, he served 4 years in the U.S. Army as a helicopter gunship pilot. In 1971 he served a tour in Viet Nam where he received numerous commendations including the Silver Star and twenty-​six Air Medals with Valor. Following the Army Dr. Nelson flew helicopters in the Arctic as a bush pilot before enrolling in the School of Business at the University of Houston. He worked his way through college and dental school by continuing to fly helicopters for 8 summer seasons while attending school.

After completing his studies with honors, he moved to Austin to open his private practice, where he now resides with his wife, Brenda, and his daughters, Jessica and Jayna. He and his family enjoy snow skiing, classic car restoration, flying and being together. Dr. Nelson also loves mountain biking and rides every chance he gets!
