We had a wonderful experience with Doug and will use him again any time we need work done on our patio. We needed some screens replaced on our patio following a few accidents involving falling tree limbs and birds, and the company who installed our screened patio is no longer in business. We reached out to Dan White’s Screens & Things after getting a recommendation from a friend. Doug was great at communicating, showed up when he said he would, charged exactly what he quoted, and was quick with his work, which is top notch. We couldn’t be more pleased or offer a stronger recommendation.

Doug White was fast and efficient. Handled the broken screens right away and had them back earlier than estimated. Courteous and professional; overall, they did an excellent job.

These folks are excellent! You pay for good work, and you can find cheaper, but I would not recommend any other. We had a large screen built as one of our big cats charged the window and broke the frame. If the frame is not broken, these can often be repaired, but this was toast. The process takes a few days and the end result is much better than what the builder put in. Happy customer and will be back!

I love this company! We have used them for many years and they are always polite, exact and their prices cannot be beat.
We have had them come out to measure a whole house for solar screens and they were very prompt, and got the custom screens installed quickly.
Also, they are great if you just need to replace one damaged screen, just take in the measurements and they will make you a new one!

Whether building custom screens for an entire porch, or screening individual windows for an old house, Dan White’s work is meticulous. He understands that older homes have non-​standard sized windows, so each screen is built to fit each slightly different sized window, and his shop’s craftsmanship is perfect.
I spoke with Dan about needing to block light to protect fine art. When he came to my home he was able to show me the exact level of solar screen needed to take care of my artwork. This man knows about screens, and he knows about solar protection.
The final perk of using Dan was that he knew my window cleaner and they coordinated with one another in getting my windows washed before hanging the screens – I didn’t have to do a thing. They made everything easy for me!

2^nd visit to Dan White’s Screens for us, this time we had two custom screens made for the windows on our patio. I e-​mailed Doug a photo of the window with its measurements and he was able to get them turned around quickly enough for our party. Outstanding quality and VERY reasonable prices considering the materials used. I have recommended them to my entire neighborhood. Support another outstanding local Austin business and head over!

Doug made the process of new screens very easy. He came out and measured and then gave me a quote which I found reasonable. I gave him the green light and he installed them promptly. He also taught me a bit about some odd aspects to our type of windows which answered a long-​standing mystery. Great company — I’d be happy to use them again!

Doug did a fantastic job, and the turnaround time was really fast, even during the busy holiday season. We just had window screens and a new storm door installed and couldn’t be happier with the results and wonderful customer service. Doug ordered the perfect door for us; it has bottom glass so our cats can look out without jumping on the screen. Plus it brings more light into our living room and is very secure — we love it! Highly recommended for fast, friendly, and very professional service.

This company is great. They did everything turn-​key. I was not interested in having to climb up on a ladder to measure my own windows and order everything on-​line. I wanted a Pro to do it all for me. In came Doug! Doug is very nice, and knows his stuff. I do recommend paying for the upgrade to «Better Vue Fiber» Screens. They are beautiful and much less noticeable than some of the ugly metal screens on my neighborhood houses. Your home is worth it!

I used Dan White’s Screens and Things for my home office window. It was the one room in the house that would get incredibly hot while the rest of the house stayed comfortable. He put a 90% solar screen on the window and I LOVE it. I’ve had it up for 3 days now and the difference is amazing. I can leave the blinds open, I no longer have glare on my monitors, the room is cooler, I can see out perfectly fine, etc. Then if I want to remove them for whatever reason I can do so easily. I’m very glad I went this route vs. solar film on the windows. Not to mention they are a local company, quick to get the job done, and reasonable pricing.

I’ve used this business multiple times when I’ve needed custom screens for rental properties or clients have needed a resource for screens. Like some of the best Austin businesses, the face of the business, presumably Dan White himself, doesn’t stand on decorum and is sometimes a little grumpy, but he is always spot on with measurements and a well made screen at prices I don’t walk away crying over (custom screens at premade prices. I like!). As a Realtor, I’m always looking for people who do good work and thusly make ME look good, and Dan White’s is just such a place.

My mother used these guys about 10 years ago when she built her house so, on her recommendation, I called them. Doug promptly came out that very afternoon to give me a bid.
Now, I knew I wanted solar screens on the back (south) of the house and the western side. It heats up unbearably there right now, so I knew if I didn’t get something on the windows, by August it would 10x unbearable!
Doug explained to me that the solar screens came in 60%-90%. After some discussion, I went with the 90% on both sides. I left the other sides of the house. A little light is nice in the morning obviously.
Now here is the really cool part. I expected Doug to measure everything. Nah, he just eyeballs it. He looked around knew what all the sizes were that I needed. They are a standard size, but still impressive. And today they all fit snug and look great!
He even made screens for my new french doors that go to the patio. I was worried they wouldn’t look clean once installed. Not a problem. The screen frame is white, as are the screws! Looks like I bought it that way!
Now here’s the best part. Austin Energy has a rebate program. I’m getting back $ 230!
