As a doctor of Chiropractic I am always searching for good adjuncts to help keep myself and my patients well. Core is by far one of the best physical therapy clinics in Austin. They are the first clinic I refer my patients to. Stephen and Julia are amazing. They provide excellent patient care with wonderful results. Additionally Core provides great group and private Pilates and Gyrotonics classes for maintaining health and wellness. I have been working with Julie Fields(Pilates instructor) for several months and if I could kidnap her I would! She is truly an amazing person as well as the best Pilates instructor I have ever had. She is extremely detailed, passionate and she makes each workout challenging and fun. Go try out Core. You will be extremely happy that you did!

After years of back pain and during the worst bout I’d had so far, I finally got x-rays done and found out that I have very extreme degenerative disc disease in the lower lumbar region of my back. In addition, I have bone spurs. I have always been very active but was having a hard time just getting out of bed in the morning and going about daily activities(normal bending, sitting, standing) much less exercise. Upon the recommendation of my sister, I started getting physical therapy at Core Therapy and Pilates almost two months ago. I have to say that this place and all of the staff are spectacular and they’ve changed my life for the better. I had a break through with my back several weeks ago and have been able to get back into my regular exercise routine. I credit the help of these amazing people: Stephen, Cheryl, Tom, Susan and Monserrat(spelling). I have not yet had the good fortune of working with everyone but it is evident from those that I’ve worked with that they are a highly skilled, caring and friendly group. I have learned immensely from every person I’ve worked with. Gena, the office manager, is also very friendly, skilled, helpful and accommodating. I look forward to graduating from physical therapy so that I can try their Pilates and Gyrotonic classes. I’m certain that they will be as fantastic as the care I’ve received so far. There is a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere at Core. One gets the impression that all of the staff truly like each other and get along. I also have to note that the physical therapy I received at Core has been a huge contrast from the initial physical therapy I got at A.R.C. At A.R.C.(where my doctor originally referred me), all the PT did was give me exercises to do and watch me do them. I feel like Core really tailors a program to suit your needs and it’s much more sophisticated. In addition, the staff are far more knowledgeable and savvy. I think there must be something to be said about integrating Pilates principals in physical therapy. It has certainly been effective. If you have any kind of body pain and require physical therapy or are interested in doing Pilates, RUN don’t walk to Core.

Thank god for back injuries. About ten years of figure skating, eight years of martial arts and(currently) long-distance triathlon — and I never had core muscles. My middle muscles were squishy and I just couldn’t seem to improve sport-wise. So along comes this debilitating back injury. I couldn’t even stand or sit comfortably, not to mention train or race. But now, whoo boy, now. I’m having a killer racing season and I’m on my way to a six pack. These guys rock. They all bring something different to the table. I had written Pilates off as some Madonna-esque celeb thing. But the back injury that is no more tells me differently. Try the Gyrotonics, too, for a frickin’ badass core. These guys are a.w.e.s.o.m.e.(And they have a white boxer named Lucky who comes to greet everyone who comes to the door and is easily bribed with cookies.)
