If there was one place I would go to get an alteration it would have to be Vas. He’s got a great talent with what he does and he makes it very affordable. I’ve also seen the finished product of a custom made suit and it looked amazing. I’ve even altered my jeans and they fit better than before. I’ve gotten multiple suits altered by Vas and they were done perfectly and done a lot earlier than expected(great for when I had my interview). Thank you very much Vas!

I’ve had mixed results with this shop. In my first encounter with Continental Tailors, they were recommended by the sales staff at Jos. A Bank, and they did a great job in a hurry on suits for myself and my son for my Dad’s funeral(not cheap, but they did do a nice job quickly). Unfortunately, this was followed by a much worse second experience: I recently took them an overcoat and a sport coat to alter, and the results were so bad I’m going to have to have them fixed elsewhere and contest the credit card charge.(I took them back once already, and the result is scarcely better the second time.) In this case, I had sleeves shortened, and on the overcoat, where there is a visible seam on the cuff, the stitching is quite visibly crooked. The tailor also neglected to mark the fabric that needed to be taken in below the back collar of the sport coat, so I could not wear it for the speaking engagement I bought it for. On both the sport coat and the overcoat, they did not shorten and restitch the sleeve lining, they just folded it up, pressed it, and left it stitched to the sleeve where it was. This is just lazy, prone to snag on my watch, and not at all what I expected for $ 65.00. That’s a shame, because I was actually planning on having them make me a custom suit, but after this fiasco, I’m not about to risk that kind of money. I thought I’d found a good tailor, but after my second encounter with them, I won’t be back…

They are great if you need something quick done and can *be there* while they do it. I was told to go to them because I needed a suit tailored quickly ahead of job interviews. When I told them I had 7 days to get basic alterations done before I needed it, they told me to come back in 6 days. I didn’t hear from them so called on the 7th day(interviews were on the 8th), and they told me to pick it up at 4PM, but they didn’t start work on it until I arrived to pick it up. Roughly 45 minutes later, I tried on the suit and they were the wrong pants — they had mixed my suit up with someone else’s. It took a full two and a half weeks to get my original pants back. During that time, I was assured that it was OK, because, as they said, the other guy didn’t want my pants — as if my intention was to donate my suit parts to anyone who wanted them. So, while I would trust them to do basic work *while you are there*, I would not leave anything with them.

I was in a bind and needed a few suits hemmed and altered for a conference in a couple days. I didn’t realize most places require a couple weeks turnaround time. I had bought the suits Jos A. Bank, and they told me they couldn’t get it done for me in time. They recommended Vas at Continental Tailors down the street. I called and he said he could help me out. I thought the prices were pretty comparable(if not lower) based on the half a dozen or so tailors I called around town. I asked him if he could at least get 2 of the 3 suits done by the following day, and he said he would try. I dropped them off around 2 or 3pm. Vas was quick to measure the suits on me, and he didn’t try to push his suggestions too much when I said I could live without having some of the jackets altered. When I called the next day around the same time, he told me he had actually gotten all 3 of them done! I paid around 80 bucks for all 3 suits(3 pants hemmed and cuffed, 2 of the pants needed additional altering around the waist/seat/crotch areas, and I also got 1 or 2 of the jackets altered). I would definitely use Vas and Continental Tailors again. He was a pretty down to earth guy, and he provided me with good, quick work at a reasonable price.

I came here to get my suit jacket altered and well the quality of work was really good I got to say. My jacket looked like it was cut just for me so there is no complaint there. I dropped it off and I thought they were going to call me to let me know it was completed but they never did I just showed up and it was done so having someone call you to let you know your clothes are completed would be nice. I got quoted 40 bucks for the alterations which isn’t a big deal it’s kinda cheap to be honest which was great but when I got there he raised the price to 45 which isn’t a huge deal but don’t change the price unless I was notified earlier. Overall it wasn’t that bad the quality of work was really good but the service could be a little better. Though for the price I would probably come back.

The 2 gentlemen that run this shop are very friendly and professional. I am from Houston where it usually costs $ 6.00 to get a pair of pants hemmed. Everyone in Austin charges $ 12.99. These guys have very fair pricing for hemming pants in the Austin market. They did a great job hemming my pants and matched the thread to the color of my pants. I dropped my pants off on Friday and got them back on Monday. They also sell and custom tailor men’s suits. I will be back. Thank you for your good work!
