History
Established in 1983.
Commons Building is named after J. Neils Thompson, whose visionary action led to the creation of the Balcones Research Campus. In 1994, the campus was renamed the J.J. Pickle Research Campus in honor of Congressman J.J. «Jake» Pickle, for his longtime support of the university and scientific research.
