All Comfort Keepers’ employees are insured, bonded, and covered by workers’ compensation. Care plans are based on the health, needs, and wants of those in our care. History

Established in 1998.

The Comfort Keepers® story began in 1998 when Kris Clum, a registered nurse working in home health care, discovered first hand the need for someone to assist her patients with their non-​medical needs. As a nurse, she was allowed only to tend to their medical, or skilled care, needs.

Sometimes her patients would request something as simple as having a loaf of bread or quart of milk delivered, or to have someone spend just a few minutes in conversation to brighten their day.

Kris and her entrepreneurial husband, Jerry Clum Jr., knew they could provide a solution.

Today, that solution is known as Comfort Keepers. Comfort Keepers provides non-​medical, in-​home care services to thousands of people by way of more than 700 franchised offices worldwide.

Business Owner

Travis M. Smith is the franchise owner and an attorney. After several years in private legal practice, Travis was searching for work with more personal meaning. Around the same time, his grandmother fell ill, and Travis was exposed to the world of in-​home care. He quickly saw how in-​home caregivers could make a profound impact on families like his own. Travis spent over a year searching for the right home care opportunity and was fortunate to find industry leader Comfort Keepers. Travis is committed to employing happy, motivated caregivers providing excellent quality care for the elderly and disabled and emphasizing the importance of treating Comfort Keepers clients with grace, dignity, and compassion. Travis is a hands-​on owner and always welcomes feedback.
