Chardonnay Apartments At Wells Branch

I’ve been living at these apts since June of this year. I was moved in quickly like within 4 hrs… The good thing about these apts is they have a washer & dryer & dishwasher… They are quick to fix problems & the maintenance guys are all cool. Only complaint I have is MOST of the ladies in the front… Sarah is the only one I like, she goes above & beyond to help me everytime I go in. THAT’S PRETTY MUCH IT.

I had a rough time finding an affordable apartment here in Austin, so I was pretty distraught until I came to Chardonnay. The property is conveniently accessible from both I-​35 and (the last free exit off) MoPac — groceries, cinema, and numerous dining options all less than 10 minutes away. The grounds are well-​kept, and the property borders a creek (called Wells Branch), with a frisbee golf course and nature trails — a beautiful place to take a walk (or run) to nearby Katherine T. Fleischer Park.
The apartment: while not a new property, the layout of the apartment is comfortable and spacious with high ceilings. I love the privacy of the tree shading my large, newly-​renovated balcony. It was really important for me that the unit comes equipped with a washer and dryer.
The best part: the top-​notch service I received from Jeff. When I moved in, there were a couple of things that had been overlooked in getting the apartment ready, but within 4 hours of me letting Jeff know, they were easily and speedily fixed.
Professional, yet personable, Jeff was an awesome guy to work with. He not only made me feel comfortable by keeping in touch and guiding me through the process, but he played a major role in making this move as painless as possible. I really appreciate all of Jeff’s hard work in getting me settled!

I’ve lived in Chardonnay since 2006 and the only thing that has kept me from moving is the monthly rate (cheap). Otherwise I would have moved out a long time ago. This is an old property and with it comes a lot of maintenance issues — Especially the water pipes. Every 3 — 4 months or so, the water will be turned off WITHOUT WARNING. When you call the front office, they are never sympathetic about it. You’re told: «It’s not our fault; It’s an act of God.» UM… NO! They need to replace the water pipes because having my utlities turned off every quarter with no forewarning equals Legal Issues. I will be speaking with their Regional Property Manager this week. It’s ridiculous!
In addition to my water being cut off with out any reimbursement or pro-​rata arrangement, my apartment was flooded due to a broken hose from their washer machine. Then it flooded again last weekend due to a backed up water line (a rag was found stuffed in the pipe). Nasty smelly dirty sewage water came up from the drain in each tub as well as from around the base of the toilets. And if that wasn’t enough, it happened AGAIN THIS weekend!!!
This is unsanitary for my family and I. I’m afraid to leave my apartment now, thinking when I get back it’s going to be flooded. And what makes me even more upset is that they act and talk to you as if they could care less. I’m definitely not renewing my lease with them again.

YOU WILL BE ROBBED! Trust me, I lived here for exactly 7 days before it happened to me. Neighbors have had doors kicked in, and everyone acts like your car being burglarized is the norm. To me, being robbed is not some «rite of passage» when I move into an apartment. The Travis County Sherrif that worked my case called this complex a «mecca» for robberies. When I asked management about security and told them it had only been a week, Steve in the front office LITERALLY SAID «What do you want ME to do about it?». UM. Something? Anything? They were very nice until I signed the lease, then they became money-​grubbing A-​holes.
Think about it this way… 20 buildings, 16 apartments per building, at 700+ rent per unit. That is $ 224,000+ a month, EVERY month. How long would it take them to build a fence, install a gate and security cameras, and pay a security guy that does more than sit in a truck by the front office eating Moon Pies? That is, when he isn’t «patrolling» one of the other complexes they are responsible for. All this says is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP. They do not care about you, your family, or your safety. Only money. RUN, DON’T WALK, THE OTHER WAY! I learned the hard way, don’t be like me! Hampton next door has a fence and a gate, and a waiting list a mile long, while these clowns will sign anyone up for a lease, and have MANY vacancies. Ask yourself WHY.
I’m sure they will have some sort of concerned response to this review, do NOT listen to their empty words and promises. They DO NOT care about tenants. ONLY MONEY.

I have only been living at Chardonnay at Wells Branch for 2 months, but I can already disagree with most of the negative posts that I’ve seen here. Overall, I think the property is very good. Because Chardonnay may be one of the older complexes in the area, the premises and apartments aren’t brand new but fully functional. Upon moving in, my entire apartment was clean (although some minor landscaping around my unit could be better). The 1 – 2 times I needed some minor maintenance done, everything was completed in a timely fashion. I can ALWAYS find parking quickly and usually can get the same parking spot daily. I feel very safe in or around my apartment and feel my car is safe as well. The units have washer and dryers inside the apt! (From my research, this is one of the only complexes that have this amenity).
I really don’t have any negative complaints. Although, my initial thought was to move in for 1 or 2 years, I can see myself staying much longer than that because of the amenities and location.

I work for a glass company that services Chardonnay apartments. I have been in the office a number of times and gotten to know the staff fairly well. I can tell you they are an excellent group. They are always helpful with their tenants problems. They don’t mess around when it comes to repairs or upgrades. If something is broken or needs attention they take care of it right away. The grounds are well manicured and kept very clean. If I was looking for a place to rent I would definitely consider going to Chardonnay.

I actually really like this place. The rent is really inexpensive for the area, and the apartments come with a washer and dryer. The closet space is good as well. The place is not new, but it is really cute. I am a fan.

The water bill is crazy its almost $ 50 a month for one person. I got my car key for no reason. All I could said is this place is ghetto.

I’ve lived here for several years (I’m saving to buy a house) and I would not recommend this apartment complex to my worst enemy. Much like a cheap tart you meet in a dark nightclub, this complex looks good at first. But when you wake up after you sign the lease (and get to interact with the apartment manager as a tenant), you’ll want to gnaw your arm off to get away from here.
The maintenance staff is friendly, but if your problem costs more than $ 5 to fix, expect to have to fight with the apartment manager for six months or more to get it fixed. My washer leaked all over the kitchen floor for over year before it finally was replaced. My refrigerator has leaked water on my kitchen floor for several months. Every three months I have to request my shower to be re-​caulked so that the tiles won’t fall off the wall.
If you do move here, you’ll want to have a friend with which you stay the night every four months. That’s because every four months you will spend an entire day without water. There are frequent water breaks, so if you don’t have friend with which to spend the night, then I hope you like using the bathroom and taking a sponge bath at the Exxon. You won’t get any notice of the water shut-​off. When the water is shut off, I usually get up and hunt down the repair crew to ask for an eta for when the water will back in service.
And if you voice any of your problems to the apartment manager, you’ll be met with a hostile attitude. The apartment manager thinks communication with the tenants is too much to ask. When advised that the abhorrent lack of customer service will affect the ratings the apartment complex receives on web sites such as this, the manager states she does not care what tenants think.
Even though I’m saving for a house, I would spend the money to move to another place if it wasn’t so expensive. Continuing to live in this dump spurs me to save even more (I know it’s perverse).
