Brilliant Sky Toys & Books

I can’t say enough good things about Brilliant Sky Toys & Books. They have the kindest staff, the most diverse, unique and amazing toys and books for kids. I live in south Austin and have been driving all the way up north to visit another toy store, for every child’s birthday and Christmas for many years. About 3 years ago, I stumbled upon Brilliant Sky Toys & Books and I will now never go anywhere else.
Since I started coming to Brilliant Sky Toys & Books, I am always the aunt or friend that brings the kids the BEST gifts. Almost every Birthday or Christmas, someone in the room approaches me to ask where I founds such unique & super cool gifts. The kids go nuts for them!
Their prices are fair; the selection outstanding.
Their employees spend time walking me around the store, making suggestions based on age, gender and the child’s interests.
They gift wrap while you wait — at no additional charge!
The owner, Courtney Mara is committed to providing excellent customer service and to stocking the shop full of unique and amazing gifts. Courtney only employs the sweetest and most committed employees that help make the whole experience that much more fun!

I guess I am the odd man (person) out here. Shopping here could not have been more awkward, cold and yucky. The sales woman there on Sunday ¹⁄₃ could not have been more stoic and standoffish. My 6 year old son took one of the bouncer balls out of the open wire bin and was bouncing it on the floor as I checked out. The sales woman was giving him such an evil eye when we left he asked that we not go back there anymore.
As we walked the store looking for paints and other supplies, we were watched like a hawk might watch a field mouse. I was wondering at what point we were going to get shouted at for actually touching items on the shelves.
I will gladly scoot up to Terra Toys where I am greeted with an enthusiastic smile and people are dying to help me find something.
Seriously, I would have been better off at Target which is sad because I just moved into the neighborhood and need to outfit the entire house with art and fun supplies.

This place is packed with cool, interesting toys for all ages. We frequent this place as a quick stop for weekend gifts for our children’s myriad of birthday parties. They have friendly and helpful staff that are super effective in steering us to unique and age appropriate gifts. The best feature of this place is the «call ahead» practice. You can call them on the way over, have them choose something over the phone, wrap it up, and charge the credit card. When you get near, you can call them back and they’ll walk it to the car– now that is cool! (and a lifesaver when late for an event)

It is hands down the best place to take your kiddo for last minute birthday present shopping — they’ll even gift wrap it free of charge for you!
The prices may be a tad but more than the big box stores or Amazon BUT the outstanding service, convenience, kid friendly environment, large selection, and numerous events more than compensate!

The toys and books are great, but the service is outstanding. My older daughter is supposed to go to three birthday parties tomorrow and I’m stuck in the house with a sick baby today. I was able to call the great folks at Brilliant Sky and give them ages, genders, and price ranges and they set me up! An hour later my husband picked up three wrapped gifts; each with gift receipts inside and descriptions attached so we knew which gift went to which party. Thank you, Brilliant Sky, for making things so convenient!

This toy wonderland is amazing for several reasons.
1. The selection of only the best toys that any parent can appreciate.
2. Story time, music sessions, and a dedicated play area to keep the little ones occupied.
3. Excellent customer service from helping to select just the right gift to checking out to…
4. Gift Wrapping!!! For FREE! And it looks awesome.
5. All this for really reasonable prices.
It’s so wonderful to know that I have my gift buying 90% complete when my daughter receives invites to her friends’ birthday parties.

I enjoy this little toy store where they cater to the younger ones. Today I came in here to buy a gift for my nephew and kind of knew what I wanted to give him and a sales lady came to help me. She was nice and I told here what idea I had and she guided me to the perfect gift. They even wrapped it for me. At the end my nephew loved it and thanks to the staff staff at Brilliant for it.

This is my go-​to place for children’s gifts now. They make it easy for me and the prices aren’t much different than any place else. Plus the service is fantastic and the gift wrapping beautiful!

it’s a get what you pay for sort of experience. and the service is part of the transaction here.
let’s say you are on your way to drop off your kid at a birthday party and you are running late… THIS is where you want to go.
I ran in and they saw the NEED on my face, correctly noted that I was in an urgent gift situation. the girl came from behind the counter and used grace and skill to harvest the correct information. here is what I gave her, «GIRL! 4! PRINCESS PARTY! AROUND $ 15». she ran over and picked up a box, started to explain it to me and I waved my hands in approval, gestured towards the register in a jedi like motion.
while one girl operated the register, the other wrapped the gift FOR FREE! a gift receipt was applied, the wrapping was perfect… and I was done and on the way to the party.
I’ll note that a lot of what they sell here is better than the crap you see at other stores. it’s not cheap, but I’ve come to recognize that service is part of their business model, something you won’t get from target/​toysRus.

This is a wonderful, quality children’s store that Austin is lucky to have. A great place to find unique, thoughtful, and inspiring toys and books for children of all ages.

Great place to pick up a birthday present no matter what price range. There is a great variety for all ages boys and girls. It is bright and cheery and super fun to just walk around.

This is the Super Hero of toystores! You won’t find Dora, or any Disney Princesses here. But what you will find is an emporium of magical wonders that will delight children from 0 – 100. My daughter who is the biggest saver and never wants to spend her hard won money actually broke out three piggy banks so that she could buy loot from this store. Trust me – Santa shops here. If you’re a mom who likes to buy the BEST presents for kiddies birthday parties, get it from this store. You’ll blow their minds. Plus the owner, Maya is a mom too! So, you can’t go wrong.
