Brentwood Park & Pool

Free, small neighborhood pool. Good crowd, mostly neighbors. Great for a quick dip during the summer heat in Austin! We love this pool, but wish it were more consistent. At times and completely without warning it closes due to machinery problems (they say it’s old). I would love to see the City of Austin invest a little to make this pool more reliably open. It’s a great location and fun atmosphere.

Great facilities, pool, lighted basketball court and two tennis courts, swings, covered picnic area, perimeter jogging path, playground area, sand box, workout area (exercise bars, etc.) and a baseball field/​area. Excellent place to fly kites as well.

What an unexpected surprise when I moved into my home — a park a couple blocks away, complete with playground for when my little one when she gets a little older, a pool for the summertime, tennis and basketball courts, a softball/​kickball field, and an open grassy area for the dogs to frolic.
Here’s the only problem I have with the park…“all dogs must be on leash”. Granted, I realize not all pets and their humans are responsible so it’s probably the safest idea, since there is no fence around the playscape, however, my little pug, Pants, would LOVE a nice open field in which to run and play, sans leash.

I’m sad to report that tomorrow is the last day this pool is open in the 2012 season. I just found this pool yesterday, when I went to my local pool, Balcones, and it was already closed for the year.
It’s still so hot; and it would be nice to have some convenient pools in Northwest Austin. It’s not even Labor Day!
About Brentwood. There is a lot of close parking. Aside from the big pool, there’s also a little wading pool which was great for my 1-​year old. It was a little tough for me to get in and out of the big pool holding my son, because there are no steps like at Balcones, just the ladders. That’s a pretty minor consideration, though. And my upper body strength and balance clearly need some work. See you in 2013, Brentwood Pool!

When I’m feeling nostalgic, I always come hang out at brentwood. I didn’t go to school here, but my parents used to take me to the kiddie pool, the one with the tall blue fountain. I’ve heard horror stories of being dragged out screaming and crying.
I also used to swim in the main pool with my boyfriend a few years ago. During the scorching hot texas summer, it’s nice to have a FREE place to cool off here during the day.
I am sad that most of the picnic tables are gone. but they were pretty heavily vandalized so I can’t knock off a star for that. This is a great place for kids, dogs, and adults to enjoy the great outdoors!

Man, Brentwood Park is great! Since moving a couple blocks away from it, I’ve used this park for: running alone, working out with a group, kickball practice, lounging about, and walking the dog. And if I was into basketball, tennis, soccer, sand volleyball, or flying kites, I know exactly where I’d go.
My favorite thing about the Park, though, is that any time of day or night, folks are out with their happy dogs!

A nice little neighborhood pool with a good sized park around it. There’s a couple of tennis courts, a softball field, a playscape, and a workout area for adults. The pool is nothing fancy, and could sure use some more deck area and chairs, but in this heat, it’s all about getting in the water anyway. Plus you can’t beat the price (free).
I’ve never seen it too ridiculously crowded, and the lifeguards seem to stay on top of things.
