Rude, I drove in from out of town to have my knives sharpened. In the past I’ve always been able to wait on them. The lone employee doesn’t do that anymore places your tools in the line. Sorry I’m not leaving my knives to wait for a call to come back and pick them up. Basically yelled at me to get out of the shop. I’ll trade else where!

Dirty shop, rude people, that’s it.

I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW! I took three pairs of incredibly dull and nicked Gingher sewing scissors in to get them sharpened (2 small snips, one knife edge one traditional, and 1 large cutting.) The person was working was very kind and professional. I went in first thing when they opened and they had my scissors ready for me in 2 hours! When I went to pick them I was pleased that I wasn’t paying an arm and leg. Very affordable. Just tested all my shears and I am beyond happy with them. I think they are even sharper now than they were brand new. All three sizes/​shape of scissors are sharpened to perfection.

Great prices and quick service. What more could you ask for?!

I have like four different sharpeners at home, but, they just don’t get the job done. My knives got so dull I was sawing meat instead of cutting it. That’s when you know it’s time to seek out a professional. I checked out these guys and a store in Cedar Park. These guys offered the best price and turn around. At four dollars for a straight blade and five for serrated with a one hour turn around, I couldn’t pass them up.
Some other Unilocalers have dissed on the service as being rude. I didn’t think so at all. No the guy wasn’t the most outgoing man in the house, but, he didn’t feed me bullshit and rip me off either. So you decide. Do you wanna stand around laughing and boring each other with nonsense conversation that you’ll more than likely forget the moment you leave the store, or, do you want a good business deal? I’m all about the latter.
I took nine knives in for sharpening. One was serrated. I checked in on Unilocal and saw a 10% promo for the month of May. What the hell. It’s September, but, I asked if they’d honor it anyway. They did! Total, my bill was roughly thirty-​three dollars. From the quoted price I came out on the better side and my knives are pretty dang sharp! I’m happy and have been running around the house with one of the butcher knives playing Michael Myers. It is that time of year you know.
These guys do more than just sharpen kitchen knives. Basically if it has a blade or edge they do it. They even buy, sell and trade, and, offer knife throwing classes. Bring your knives, tools, scissors, swords, etc you won’t be sorry. And just for clarity from another review I read, they do indeed take plastic. Not sure what that reviewer was on about. I’m glad I found these guys and will definitely use them again. And who knows maybe I’ll get the guy that works there to smile!

Great service. Courteous, quick, professional – no problem. And, contrary to what one reviewer stated, they do take credit cards. I had five knives sharpened there yesterday (08/​29/​2015) and paid with a credit card.

I guess when you’re the only sharpener in town it doesn’t matter how you treat people. These guys are rude and blunt. No such thing as customer service. Oh and they only take cash or check? This is 2015, what planet are you guys living on? It’s only a matter of time before they go out business.

Just used them to sharpen my chainsaw which came back razor sharp. It went through some mesquite like a hot knife through butter.

All work and no play (with sharp kitchen knives), makes a dull boy (who is likely to experience injury and/​or poorly cut foods because of dull knives). If you’re a home cook, understand the importance of a good/​sharp knife, and aren’t keen to sharpen your own because you don’t want to mess them up, you need to come here.
Prices are incredibly reasonable, they take great care of your precious cutlery, and they do it quickly (sometimes while you wait).
They also sell used kitchen knives, so if you’re looking for a great deal on a new addition for your knife rack – come here.
Lastly, kitchen knives is just a small part of what’s happening here. You may be «struck» a bit when you walk in upon seeing the walls adorned with various swords, hatchets, etc.

For the price, I don’t think you can beat these guys.
I routinely come across folks at farmers markets, etc. who want $ 6 – 7 per knife and knife sharpest is around $ 3 a knife plus they give you 1 free for every 6 you pay for.
Great deal — I’ve used them 3 or 4 times and always enjoyed how well my knives cut afterward.
I’ll definitely keep using them and I think I’ll sign up for a tomahawk throwing class while I’m at it.

I can’t speak to the quality of knife sharpening that goes on here. I can speak to… knife throwing and tomahawk throwing lessons! I called a few years back for a lesson for a unique anniversary present for my hubs. It was SO FUN. The instructor– Cliff– was so friendly and hilarious and a great teacher. By the end of the lesson we were both throwing knives and tomahawks like pros. Seriously one of the funnest experiences of my adult life. Probably not for everyone but we loved it! Thanks Cliff!

Been using these guys for years. They do a great job for a very affordable price. Have friends that spend hours messing with knives. I spend minutes and very little money and always get expert work. They are a big enough draw to get a Liberty Hill redneck into that fruity part of Austin! Just kidding fruity Austin people!

I was sooo skeptical on whether or not I should have my knives sharpened here. My Wüsthof Classic knives from Williams-​Sonoma are my most prized possession from my kitchen!!! Anywho– my knives are definitely sharper but they were poorly sharpened. I had them sharpened last March in Kansas City and they were so sharp. In comparison to that, I’m highly disappointed.

I hate leaving bad reviews for small businesses, but after using my knives over the Thanksgiving holiday, I feel I need to speak up.
This place is under new ownership, and it seems the previously skilled sharpeners have left.
First let me say the good things. My knives were indeed sharp after service, and Customer service was really good when I complained. The employee at the counter attempted to fix the problems I had, with some success. I was also not charged.
Here is the bad: The profiles of my knives were completely off after being sharpened.
These are Solid Forschner and Henckels brand knives, an 8 inch chef’s knife, a 6′ inch chef’s knife, a long bread knife, and 2 Santokus.
The Chef’s knives all had their blade profiles flattened out, with a rapid sweep back to the tip. One knife you could literally lay flat on the counter with no roll to it at all.
One Santoku had a sharp rocking point added to the knife so if you placed it edge down and lifted the handle it would clack back and forth instead of rolling.
The other Santoku had the tip ground down to something resembling a Tanto, as though the sharpener could not get the transition from edge to tip correct, and removed too much material.
The bread knife had all it’s serrations ground down, the guy was able to fix this, and the blade came out very sharp, but a great deal of material had to be removed to fix it.

I recently stupidly tried to hack through some oxtail bones while making a jamaican oxtail stew and dinged up my Wusthoff Chef’s knife and was looking for a place to get it fixed up a bit and resharpened as I’d never had it done since receiving them a good 6 or so years ago.
After looking around, there were very few options in town, and even fewer with normal business hours, so I decided on this place. I picked out a couple other knives I use frequently and brought the trio in for a sharpening.
The store says they sharpen while you wait, so I thought I might be able to sneak in and out in pretty quickly, but I guess I came while it was busy and they said it’d be a couple hours. I couldn’t make it back the same day and picked it up the next business day, and all my knives and block were returned in good shape, and nicely sharp and checking out was a breeze.
All in all, I paid just over $ 12 for a chef’s knife, a paring knife and a fillet knife, and after using the chef’s knife for a few days I can definitely tell its noticeably sharper than I’ve had it in years. It makes cooking easier and more pleasurable using a sharp knife, and I’d recommend this spot based on my one experience with them.

I’d gotten used to having knives that qualified as blunt bludgeoning instruments rather than slicing tools. My husband was not so impressed with that state of affairs.
After reading all the reviews I was wondering if this place had gone bad since the last time I had knives sharpened there… which must have been 10 years ago. However it also seems like the only game in town so I headed up. It was just like I remembered it, which is to say no frills. You stand there for a couple of minutes while the staff helps a dad buy his teenage sons machetes, and when it’s your turn, someone courteously takes your knives and gives you a ticket. Ours were ready in 3 hours when I had expected to leave them overnight. The staff aren’t going to chat you up, but really, that’s not what I paid for.
Our bread knife is so sharp now that I can slice a bagel and no crumbs fall out. The cut surface is smooth and clean. I had forgotten that was even possible. For the regular knives, the difference isn’t so dramatic, but overall we’re happier with them and the price was very reasonable. They give a discount if you bring in 7 or more at once.
I would never bring them my husband’s super special Japanese knife because I wouldn’t want to end up divorced if they ruined it, but I absolutely trust them for basic sharpening of kitchen knives owned by non-​chefs.

Great company to work with! The guy was very nice and considerate enough how to teach me to feel serrated knife edges withy finger so that I could determine for myself when the knives need sharpening. Reasonable pricing for what it is. They are quick also, knives are sharpened in their shop. Not elsewhere.
Be prepared to bring cash or checkbook only.

Thomas, I am very glad you responded to my post. It shows just what kind of businessman you really are. Your customers can simply read your responses and know what kind of person they are dealing with.
To your accusations: That I brought you a replica, made in China sword: Yes, it was made in China (it’s a Chinese Sword!). As far as it being a replica sword, I have taken it to 2 university historians and two knife experts (No Thomas, you are not included in this) to find out it’s authenticity. None of these people could authinticate the sword because it was mass produced in at a time when steel was in short supply and these swords were cheaper to make than guns. This sword was not meant to be a family heirloom, it was made solidly and roughly for fighting invaders and beheadings. So none of these experts could put an exact date on this sword, but I guess you know more than they do… Irrellivent anyways, whether it was a replica or not doesn’t excuse a half-​assed job.
To the accusation that I wanted to use cheap materials: It came down to a choice between using Japanese thread or using paracord for the wrap (not the handle). I chose paracord, and good thing I did because it would have only cost me more $$ for cheap work.
No illustration of what you were going to do was ever presented to me other than when we talked for a few minutes in your shop (during which time several of your customers marveled at this «cheap, replica, made in China» sword. All I asked was to not change anything about the size of the handle and do a wrap. The first time you returned the sword to me, the handle had a circumference of 8 inches. How ridiculous is that? The only thing that out-​does it is your «repair» in which you cut the wooden handle down to a 3.25 inch circumference. Yes, you did not charge me for this, and for good reason!
The damage on the blade from where you removed the epoxy you spilled amounted to the removal of a lot of patina from the blade, as well as scratches that went down to the metal.

So I heard about this place from a crazy friend of mine, he told me the guy running the place looked like Sam Elliot and that they had tomahawks. This was all I needed to check it out.
So last Saturday we made a trip up north for breakfast and to check out this shop. Unfortunately when we arrived a younger guy who looked nothing like Sam Elliot was working in the back, presumably working on the knives for the next Machete movie. (I cannot confirm this though but that would be pretty cool)
The selections of knives is OK but I gotta admit I was a bit underwhelmed, although the selection of kitchen knives was pretty good. The blade sharpening prices are easily visible and covers everything under the sun. While we looked around the shop 2 others came in and got sharpening done. The process is quick and the guy was friendly and helpful with tips for those getting work done.
I would easily recommend this place to others and I will probably be back soon to sharpen up some chef knives.
