Austin’s Couch Potatoes

We purchased a couch there about 2 years ago and it has proven to be incredibly low quality. My college craigslist purchased have faired far better than the new couch we purchased from Couch Potato.
The stuffing in the cushions is incredibly poor quality and has shifted and sunken in in many places leaving springs exposed and uncomfortable lumps.
The seams are all busting open as well.
I highly regret this purchase.

I bought furniture there 7 weeks ago. It has yet to be delivered. Finance company is getting their money. No return phone calls.
I will NEVER shop there again.

Great sales experience, bad service.
We purchased living room and dinning room set and couple of accent chairs, all went well until delivery, I was informed to let the delivery team know about any damage to the furniture so they can fix or replace. we did find 3 damages and 2 of which was just a fix and 3^rd was not fixable so needs to be replaced. they did the 2 fixes no issues. (everything happened with long delays). but would not replace the Dinning table, after talking to the service team for 2 year they did not seem to care about the furniture and all they claimed was that, I did not file the damage claim. Only reason they wanted to negotiate with me 8 – 10 months ago was to avoid a bad review. and they agreed to replace the furniture and asked me to wait for 2 – 4 weeks. and now i have given up waiting for another 8 months expecting them to respond as they ignore my call now.
At this time i am good even if they take the dinning table set back.
make sure you file a claim if your furniture is damaged which they don’t inform during the sales time.

After looking at other stores with high pressure sales tactics we were pleased to do business with CB. He was very knowledgable and no pressure at all. We found a sofa and love seat at a very reasonable price. Delivery was made the very next day. We are pleased with the furniture and overall experience. Customer service was exceptional and the delivery crew was outstanding. I will recommend this local business to friends as well as go back for future wants.

We bought two sets of chairs (table and bar stool) for our office and they were fantastic. No damage, look great, best price we found online or in Austin. Delivery folks were prompt and helpful.
We looked long and hard for something that looked great and we could afford — didn’t think we would find both. Grateful for how easy their sales team was to work with, and I will absolutely use Austin Couch Potatoes when I need furniture for my my next office or house.

I ordered a chair on Saturday over the phone. Sal helped me and was very friendly. He said the chair was not in stock and would take about 2 weeks for it to come in.
Four days later (last night) I find out that my new office cannot accommodate an additional chair. I was pretty bummed out, because I really wanted the extra chair. It’s a nice one and I had bought one the previous week that was in-​stock from Sal. I called this morning (5 days from the order date) and asked to cancel my order. I was informed that the staff person had to get approval from their supervisor to allow me to cancel. She said she would have to call me back and there would be a 25% re-​stocking fee. I had not been informed of this repercussion when I first ordered the chair. I didn’t hear anything and so called back about 5 hours later. I was informed that I could cancel my order and I was charged a 25% fee. Basically, I was refunded $ 224.02 and they kept $ 67.28. A very expensive mistake on my part. Please be aware of this hidden steep fee when buying furniture from this company.
Overall, Sal was very friendly and readily helpful. The type of furniture offered at this store is mostly large and overstuffed. Overall, the selection is adequate. When you enter the store they don’t hassle you or follow you around while you’re browsing and they offer you water when you come in.

From the minute I walked in to the time that my couch arrived, this was a great buying experience. The store staff and manager were all very helpful, offering recommendations based on my needs and allowing time for me to consider the options. Understanding that a furniture purchase is a big commitment, they were never pushy about getting me to decide on something. When the manufacturer information on an item was limited, the store manager actually took the time to draw out sketches of couch configurations to help me decide what would work in my home.
The delivery guys were great about calling ahead to schedule, and arrived on time. They were friendly and fast, which I appreciated since I was on a work break.
If you are in the market for a new couch or other piece of furniture, check them out! They also have a new store on Lamar that is worth looking at.

Great customer service! We went in, found what we wanted, and was helped by a wonderful gentleman who’s name I can’t remember. He and the staff got us in and out in no time. They do financing too, which is awesome! We had our beautiful new couch delivered 3 days later, on time. Couldn’t be happier! It was such an easy purchase!

I just bought my couch today, haven’t had it delivered yet so my review may change.
This place is fantastic! I’ve had this terribly uncomfortable couch for a while and decided it was time for a new one. I’ve been on a search for the last week for a new couch and went to multiple stores. I found my dream sectional at Ashley Furniture, but I was out of my price range. When I went to Austin Couch Potatoes I found the EXACT same sectional for $ 1,000 cheaper. No joke. They also offer a protection plan for cleaning and damage repair for 5 years. The sales guy CB was very friendly, and explained everything to us.
Like I said, I haven’t received the sectional, but I am so excited for it!!!
So I got my couch delivered, and except for the mix up with times, everything came out perfect!

Excellent! This guy is a beast selling his furniture! I have come several times looking for different items. However, TODAY HE TRULY DESERVED HIS FIVE STARS.
Let me explain you why:
First, he explained us everything about our couch choices: materials, sofa bed vs regular sofa, benefits, etc.
Second, good price.
Third, we were looking for quick delivery, but we could not pay the couch price for the delivery. WELL!!! He delivered everything ON THE SAME DATE A FEW MINUTES AFTER WE LEFT THE STORE. Who can beat that?
Fourth, I was not planning on buying a TV stand. However, I saw one I like and we got a GOOD PRICE ON IT! and guess what? SAME DAY DELIVERY TOO.
Fifth, He is honest and a good salesman. TRUST ME ON THIS ONE.
In conclusion, he really deserved his five stars. I will recommend him with my eyes closed. I am this store’s new fan.

For the first time in six and a half years, and since I’ve moved to Austin, I finally live in a house again. A real house, where the walls don’t connect to anything but the great outdoors and I have a yard and a garage and privacy. With a house comes more space. My only requirement for filling that space? I wanted a couch long enough I could sleep on, because sometimes it’s a lazy Sunday and you just want to fall asleep on your comfy couch while on a Netflix binge.
For a better visual, does anyone remember that kid’s show on PBS called The Big, Comfy Couch? That girl did everything on her couch! Slept on it, stored all her stuff in it — that couch was basically her home. I wanted a couch like that, but less «I inherited this from an old and distant relative» and more aesthetically pleasing.
I remembered seeing my friend’s couches that he purchased here and I really liked those couches, so I checked out their website. I narrowed it down to a few choices and decided I’d spend my Saturday testing out some furniture. (Couches are one of those things you really have to try before you buy.)
Upon arrival, C.B. greeted us and answered some of John’s questions while I found the couch set in which I was most interested. The couch was comfortable, affordable, and definitely passed the «Can I lie down on this?» test. Our set came with a couch and a loveseat for $ 899, including pillows. (The pillows used the same fabric as the couch, so there was no way I was passing those up. I don’t even have to go out and find matching pillows? Thank goodness.) I chose a dark gray color so that stains wouldn’t show up as easily (I have three animals, a clumsy boyfriend, and a 1 year old niece. Yeah. That’s a lot of potential stain damage.) and because it would match with the other décor.
After picking the couch set and browsing to see about potential coffee and end table candidates, we kept coming back to this one chair.
«It’s so cool. That’s a kind of chair you sit in while drinking whiskey and smoking a pipe.»
«But do we need a chair?»
«No, we don’t need a chair. And we might as well not spend that money.»
«Yeah. We don’t need it.»
«But it’s just so cool.»
«It really is.»
And that’s the story of how we talked ourselves into getting that really sweet chair. Worth it.
They offer several types of financing — if you qualify for the 12 months with no interest, go with that option. We chose that just so we wouldn’t be paying all of that money up front and we could spread it out over a few months, just in case. It has been worth it seeing as how some kind of unexpected expense always comes up when moving and it’s nice to have that buffer.
The only part that didn’t go so smoothly was the delivery. We went in on the weekend, placed our order, and C.B. informed us that our furniture would be in that week and they’d call us to set up a delivery time. Yay! On Tuesday, they called us to set up a delivery time. We went with Thursday, because someone would already be home waiting on the gas company to turn our gas on and it was convenient. How perfect — now there is no scrambling to get extra hours or days off work for anybody.
Then John gets a call from somebody saying that Thursday won’t work for them and Wednesday would be better. Okay, well, that’s pretty short notice, but John is somehow able to swing it and our couch and loveseat is delivered. But what about our chair? «Ummmm.»
We’re informed that somebody will call us later that day and let us know what is going on with the chair. Maybe it just didn’t get delivered yet, and that’s fine, but we’d like to know so we can plan accordingly. Someone tells John that they’ll deliver it later that day and will call us back when they’re on the way. Yay!
Then we get no phone call about the delivery. Nothing. John calls and no one returns the call. So is it coming tomorrow? Guess we’ll have to wait and see. Thursday rolls around and good thing John was already home, because the chair was delivered. Woo! Now we have all of our beautiful furniture and it looks great. That chair really ties the whole room together.
The front-​end experience was great — everyone was helpful and friendly and really upfront about everything — expected delivery times, financing options, price, everything. C.B. was wonderfully helpful and never pressured us to spend more or buy anything other than what we wanted.
The delivery aspect was fumbled a little and it was a little odd to have someone tell us they’d deliver the furniture when it was convenient for them rather than when it was convenient for us. Would I purchase furniture from here again? Yes. Would I recommend this place? Absolutely! Just work on the delivery snafus, guys.

I just bought a new house and needed new EVERYTHING. I went online and found what I was looking for super easily with their great website. What attracted me was the quality furniture for the great prices. What will keep me coming back for all of my furniture needs is the amazing service I got from everyone there, including Saul. Definitely recommend talking to Saul, he’s the best! Their delivery service was on time, friendly, and conscious of my home and it’s cleanliness.
I really can’t say enough great things, and I’ll definitely be using them when I furnish future homes.

My wife and I recently purchased bedroom furniture from Austin Couch Potatoes.
Roughly a year ago we also purchased our sectional couch and dining room table. Purchase, delivery and assembly were all a breeze.
The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Their prices are aggressive and they offer good financing options (for those that are interested).
Will definitely buy here again.

To keep it short and simple…
DO NOT use their delivery service. They tried stuffing the couch through the door frame metal side out and damaged it badly. They did however have someone come out and fix it so that was a plus. They were in such a hurry and were running into everything. They did not take their shoes off on the new carpet and left stains, never covered the door areas with blankets to not damage the frame/​paint or furniture, and also hit my wall and marked it up.
Another reason for the two stars is the couch and table looked heavily wrapped and protected, but when I further went to inspect and clean them after they made a quick dash out the door. I noticed that the dings on the coffee table were covered up by those marker pens. Really guys not cool!!! Be up front with your customers and don’t sell them (me) damaged merchandise.

I have been shopping for a couch because my lovely dogs have decided that would chew up the couch I currently have. I called over to see if I was going to be worth my time even coming in. I explained my situation to the the guy who answered the phone. I told him I wanted a simple sofa that was not going to break the bank and if my dogs chewed it up, no harm no foul. The guy tells me about an Ashley sofa he has that Ashley sells for $ 300 on sale and usually goes for $ 400. There is a furniture place in San Antonio that has these same sofa’s for $ 350, but was trying to save myself a trip. I ask if he as anything under $ 400. He quickly tells me know and becomes very rude.
Thanks. You saved me a trip from wasting my time at your store. No, I do not want to buy your overpriced furniture. I do not care you have couch potato figures in front of your store. I do not need a «gimmick» to bring me. If you do shop here, compare prices, look around. You more than likely will find someplace else that will work with you.

When you walk into the store, it seems overcrowded with furniture, but don’t let that turn you away. We had searched for a sectional and found one we liked at other furniture stores. Went to Coach Potatoes and found the same sofa at a much lower price. The staff was very nice. They did not follow us through the store, but were there to help when we were ready; they gave several options to look at before making a decision. The in store experience was good. We were happy to hear about the warranty too so we definitely bought that!
The best part of all of this– we were told we would receive our furniture in 2 – 3 weeks, probably closer to the later since it was during the holidays. We received a call that our sofa was ready for delivery within a week! The delivery guys brought it the next afternoon and had it set up within 10 minutes!

We stopped here just to get a photo op with the huge potatoes. Thought we’d pop in and check out their stuff. Meh… just ok. Prices are too high for what they are selling. I will say the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. But… if you want the same furniture (sometimes better) go right down the road to Austin Furrniture Market.

I had an excellent experience with Austin’s Couch Potatoes. I recently moved to Austin and was looking for a one stop shop for quality and affordable furniture. A good friend referred me here and I am so glad she did!
When I went in, I was greeted by Jim Tyson. He was very friendly, offered me and my family cold bottled water. The best part was that he was fun and positive but not at all pushy or annoying, like salesmen can be. I found everything I needed to fully furnish my new apartment. There were so many different styles of furniture and all at great prices.
Once I had picked out all that I needed, Jim made the sale very easy. He gave me a nice discount without me asking for it and even offered me options for a «loaner» couch while I waited for my order. I really cant say enough about what a nice guy Jim is and how easy he made everything!
My order was promised in 2 to 3 weeks. I was pleasantly surprised when it came in before 2 weeks. The delivery service that this company uses is also great to work with. They accommodated my work schedule, called when they were 15 min out, and set up my furniture in no time! I hadn’t decided where I wanted to put it all and they kept insisting they would move it around to my liking.
Overall I am extremely pleased! I hope I get the opportunity to personally recommend someone. On a quick personal note… I have a very sentimental stuffed animal that is a couch potato. It was my grandfather’s. It’s meant to sit on the couch and hold the remotes. I thought it would be fun to take it in to the store, considering the name and the giant display of Couch Potatoes outside the store. All the staff, including one of the owners, were such great fun about it all, snapping pictures and making jokes. This is above and beyond and really made me happy! Thanks Austin’s Couch Potatoes!!!
