Integrating my sense of client centered therapy with my veterinary services, we opened AVC in the Northwest Hills in Oct. 2012. The business model and service mission at AVC is to integrate knowledgeable veterinary service in a kind and gentle manner with your pets, to connect with our clients in dialogue and mutual understanding of the needed care, and to provide this care in an affordable way.

Meet the Business Owner

Dr. Steve H.

Business Owner

As a small animal primary care veterinarian, Dr. Harris is passionate about caring for people’s pets. His affinity for animals began in his youth when he would watch his grandmother, mother and father «shower their pets with affection.» His ability to impact a pet’s life is what he enjoys most about being a veterinarian. «I like being able to make a difference in a pet’s life or refer the family and pet for additional care if I cannot help them. I also know that at the end of a pet’s lifetime, I can alleviate its pain and support the family in their grief,» he said.

While in college, Dr. Harris worked in a small animal hospital during his summer breaks. After earning his bachelor’s degree in biology, he went on to receive his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. Dr. Harris also has a master’s degree in counseling from Amberton University.
