This place is a JOKE! Be prepared to experience long wait times for your appointment you made weeks ago. And the pediatricians I saw for my son over the course of 2 years were rushed and not helpful. This is my first child and typically I have questions at every appointment about the different stages. Not once did I ever get asked «do you have any questions» before the physician left the room. They would come in take 5 or so mins with me and my son (after waiting 30 – 60 mins) and then just leave! I would have to say WAIT, I have questions! Every time. It was frustrating to be rushed in and rushed out, after I had patiently waited so long for my appointment. If you are looking for a good pediatrician for your child this is NOT the place! I saw almost everyone here and left frustrated each and every time.

I have been a patient for 15 years. I cant get appointments with my doctor when i need one… it took me from 9 – 10:30 today just to get sw arc to answer. Finally another arc transfered me and it was answered right away. (Yeah nice)
They were able to make an appt for 5 days away. After another long wait i talked to a nurse who talked to my doc who said i have too come in right away (severe m.s. complications) so now i have an after hours apt with a doc, not my doc.
So if you are peeing blood and need help from your doctor bad good luck. If you have a cold and can wait, your probably ok.
The doctors here are caring and kind, but the phone representatives are either overwhelmed, under trained or don’t care.
I’m upset that it took 5 hours on the phone to get an apt, scheduled for 15 min duration, after hours, With not my doctor. After 15 years of great service the last 2 have been tough.
Once again though, i believe in the doctors here, but the customer service/​appointments has fallen to a possibly unacceptable level. This is now not unusual.
I have been sending friends and family here for a decade and a half. I can no longer recommend arc.

Scheduled appointment at 3pm. Came 20min early to ensure timely healthcare. We were sat in a room until 3:30 before the doctor showed. The quality of care was nice, but not good enough to account for the lack of respect for our time. Unacceptable.

Worst customer service of any practice we’ve ever been a part of. We’ve had our family here for six years and we are now getting ready to switch. They have botched prescription refills where it’s taken hours to get them straightened out. Today the final straw was waiting over half an hour on hold to talk to a nurse in the family practice. When someone finally picked up, they immediately hung up. So then I called back and pressed the option for physicians as I was not waiting another 31 minutes and the operator said, sorry there are 20 people ahead of you and they’ve all been waiting 21 minutes. I JUST SPENT 31 MINUTES ON HOLD AND YOU CAN’T HELP ME? She was going to put me at the bottom of the queue. Unbelievable.

Convenient and fast for me. Some of the best doctors in town come here a couple of days of the week. Saves me mucho time.

I have been with arc for almost 10 years now and have been very happy with their services except for this past weekend. This review is reflective of the care I received at the after clinic. I went to the clinic this weekend for a severe GI bug – twice!!! The ancillary staff and nurses are very courteous. However, I felt the doctors were very condescending and kept talking down to me and insisted that I was «ok» and proceeded to give me advice I could have received over the phone. I don’t think they even bothered to look at what I did for living. Because if they did, they would realize that 1) they would not have said maybe the knowledge I had was from the Internet, 2) their idea of being dehydrated, eg orthostatic hypotension, hypokalemia, would warrant me to go the ER than some «after hours clinic.» During one of the visits, I told the doctor that I have lost about 8 pounds since this GI bug and that I haven’t been able to produce enough breast milk for my baby who has also been sick and not able to take formula. She proceeded compare my weight from over 3 months ago and stated the weight I «lost was from calories» and that feeling thirsty (in spite of attempting to orally rehydrate) doesn’t mean that I’m dehydrated. I was then told that giving IV fluids could lead to an infection!!! Seriously?! I thought the whole point of an after hours clinic was so one could receive help without going to the ER. I have a colleague in the ER who said I would have received IV fluids given my sx.

I’ve been going to ARC in Austin for years and I’m looking for a new system. ARC is antiquated and I don’t feel like I’m getting the best service here. On my last routine visit, I had to fill out 7 sheets of paper and when I was referred to another location, I had to fill out actual paperwork again. The staff is a mix of very friendly and apathetic and trying to get any type of follow-​up information is awful and timely. It’s time to move on…

I see Dr. Mark Ambler MD at ARC Southwest Austin. There is plenty of parking at this location. This is newly remodeled to meet all your medical needs with family medicine, LAB, dermatologist, OB/​GYN, physical therapy, pediatrics, endocrinology, ENT, internal medicine, orthopedics, fertility, etc. all on site. I have been seeing Dr. Ambler for 5 yrs now. Sometimes I wait 3 months or so to get in with him, because he is so great. The staff are professional and pleasant.

I had been under the false impression that Drs at ARC were less than stellar. Not only was I wrong I have been extremely pleased, I have never seen, a «less than stellar» Dr at the Slaughter location. One Dr in particular I feel deserves mentioning because he has done such a good job. My child and now infant have been seeing the pediatrician Dr Goodman in total of 2 years and his name says it all. His is very thorough and we never feel rushed in his office. Dr Goodman has a great bedside manner for the overly paranoid parent which is the possible category I may fall under. He offers to run more specific test to put your mind at ease. He will call and speak to you to explain any questions you may have. His nurse is also very friendly and helpful. There are hardly any wait times as well. This ARC location is a very well oiled machine that I highly recommend.

Long waits! I like all the upgrades with my chart and the app the ability to message doctors but one thing has never changed when I have a 2:15 appointment and don’t actually see the dr. Until 3:00pm it’s annoying what’s the point of making an appointment? You can tell the Dr. Are over booked which causes them to rush through the visit I feel like a number not cared for…

My husband and I have been to this place about 5 times now (husband has been for his whole life actually to this one) and it’s been nothing but efficient fast and personable.
They truly want to take CARE of you and get you fast care. Between the fast service and quality cleanliness it’s hard to beat. Well prices even without insurance and you need a quick visit.

My daughters and I have used this clinic for years. We have consistently been satisfied with the office staff, nurses and practitioners. We hve used the regular hours as well as after hours. I used after hours just last week.
Dr. Porter is friendly, thorough and takes her time with you.
Dr. Chen is kind, thorough and explains everything very well.
I have also seen Dr. Browning and Dr. Kapadia and liked both.
In Peds – we have used Dr. Jack Horton for 8 years and have always been happy with his care. He is kind and has a Mickey Mouse watch that plays music for the littles while he listens to their heart. We also have used Chris Crocker who is excellent as well! We have also seen Dr. Mouser once and enjoyed her as well.

This review is only for Dr. Heidi Busceme. We have been taking our kids to see her for over 5 years now and she is by far one of the best pediatric doctors in Austin. She not only takes the time to listen to our concerns but has a great «bed side manner» and is excellent with kids and parents. She even takes the time to call and see how our kids are doing after a visit.

We’ve been using ARC for over 32 years. Our 1^st son was a patient even before he was born. As we grew and got older we’ve counted on ARC to be there and Lo and Behold they have exceeded our expectations.
Great Doctors who care and the staff is always helpful.

I love this place! I originally used to go to their far west location and that place is a way older building. The sw location is way nicer, staff is friendly normally, you get the occasional bad customer service. The doctors are 99% of the time super friendly & informative! I love Dr Austin! She is amazing and full of energy! I’m glad I switched to this location, its closer to us, cleaner, & nicer… its also a one stop shop, and can get everything including xrays done here.

Atrocious! The staff at the front desk has been so condescending I’m amazed they’re still employed. That’s the least of our problems we’ve run into with this establishment.
Vaccine records have been written in wrong, so my daughter had to get in another set of vaccines because the last ones she had canceled itself out, because it was apparently given to her too soon! Wow. That didn’t scare the daylights out of us or anything!
My son came in with an extremely high temp and was told to give him Tylenol and Ibuprofen. Wellllll I was not told to rotate them! I am a new mother, I am NEW to this. Educate me a little, I did after all pay for a dr visit. Needless to say he had a seizure the next day called 911 and went to dell children’s hospital via ambulance.
My son came in feeling sick and ended up having a very contagious and dangerous illness to preemies, which our preemie daughter just came home. She ended up catching it even though the NICU had given her synigious (sp) shot. She was taken to dell children’s hospital because of the risks and stayed the night.
Last straw was today! Was told to come in right away. It was 430, got there at 5 and doctor wouldn’t see him after the nurse just told us to come in! We rushed in rush hr traffic with a 2 yr old and a 7 month old to be turned away. Thanks ARC. Great bedside manner.
My son got worse and worse, took him to dell last night his fever wouldn’t go down, he got a proper diagnosis and now we have a big fat bill. Cool.
I feel I need to add that my children have not once been tested for anything at ARC. I guess that’s not a typical practice? I have no idea what to expect, but this establishment has not taken the time and care my children deserve.

Aside from flu season, I’ve never had issues getting into ARC Southwest and if I do, the receptionist will happily schedule an appointment at one of their other locations while I am still on the phone so that I don’t have to hang up and dial elsewhere.
That being said, I love Dr. Grimes. She has changed my negative perspective on family practice doctors that wouldn’t take me seriously in the past. I feel like she REALLY listens to me and gives me the answers that I need to hear and explains things to me so that I actually understand what’s going on. I also love the new MyChart login that they have setup now so I can access my info anywhere (they have a smart phone app) and even make appointments online OR email my doctor if I just have a question or need a prescription refill.
People can bash ARC all they want but as another reviewer said, it only takes ONE bad experience for someone to vent and leave a poor review so make sure you REALLY read the other reviews on here and decide if this is the place for you.
I find it extremely convenient to be able to use any of their numerous locations and still have all my info in one place so that’s definitely something to consider.

I love this place. Never had any bad experience. I see Dr. Porter and she’s the best. She’s warm, thorough and spends some time with me, not «in-​and-​out» like a lot of doctors. I’ve never waited more than 20 minutes and that usually happens only when I’m a few minutes late and mess up their schedule.
My family and I go to ARC for many years and I recommend them highly. They have a lab onsite, which is very convenient.
They have pediatrics, internal medicine, gastroenterology, podiatry, orthopedics and I don’t know what else. Recently they added a dermatologist. Great to have all this at one place.
No complaints here.

After discovering an unfortunate issue, I had originally booked an appointment to visit with my doctor tomorrow morning. After a couple of hours, things were heading in the wrong direction and called ARC to see if I could get in sooner and was referred to their after hours clinic near the house.
We arrived a little early and booked in with the receptionist. She was polite and took all my information, co-​payment and was directed to the waiting area. A nurse came by and took the wife and I to our examination room and completed the some more information.
Dr. Ted Smith came in promptly and quickly diagnosed my issue and referred me to a specialist. He had a great bed side manner, explained to me what had happened, that it wasn’t uncommon and he would refer me to a specialist. We had a nice rapport during my visit and was very pleased with all the staff. When he came back in the room, Suzie had joined me and he took time to explain everything to her.
Very nice to know that this clinic is just down the road from us and will be using them if need be in the future.

I went in for a spider bite/​skin infection and left with the wrong type of antibiotic prescription and a huge scratch on my arm from an ACC student who worked in the blood lab. They wouldn’t let me see a regular doctor, just a glorified nurse who, had she taken the time to listen, might have put me on the correct antibiotics.
Won’t be going here again, found a fantastic Doctor at the Far West Clinic who put me on the right antibiotics and solved the mystery skin infection!
