I went in for a pregnancy test and found out that I was pregnant. The woman there looked over my questionnaire and medical history that I filled out and saw that there was a sexual assault in my past. She lectured me for five minutes about how I «needed to forgive my rapist» after I said I didn’t want to nor did I want to talk about it. After that, she read some verses of the Bible, prayed with me, and (when I told her I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do about the pregnancy) told me that I would regret «killing my baby» and that women who «killed their babies» are depressed and suicidal afterwards. When I said my main concern was childcare she said there are government programs that will pay for it and that «God will provide» But gave me absolutely no resources or phone numbers. If you think you may be pregnant, go anywhere but here. I am a Christian who is now happily five months pregnant, but that was the worst experience of my life. I needed support and all they did was shame me, tell me to forgive my rapist, and provided no resources.

It’s great that they have an opinion on encouraging women to keep their babies, but are highly biased and Christian. Not exactly a group of open-​minded people. They are very anti-​abortion and will do anything to get you to not get one.
I volunteered there a handful of times. The people there are very kind, but somewhat passive-​aggressive about their opinions.

APRC provides referrals to St. Davids, Medicaid, STD testing, free maternity homes (e.g. Annunciation Maternity Home, Texas Baptism Children’s Home) and many other services for single, low-​income, or expecting mothers. They provide abundant guidance to help mothers make informed decisions for their families, including adoption plans. Upon visiting APRC for the first time, each client voluntarily signs a waiver accepting APRC’s mission and confidentiality policy. Mothers are welcome to «shop» in the maternity boutique, where they pick out maternity clothes, baby clothes, books, toys, formula, bottles, diapers, etc. for FREE. APRC donates thousands of dollars of materials to mothers and children each year. They fill a crucial need in the Austin area. The environment is very warm and nonjudgemental; the staff and volunteers treat each woman holistically and remember names and faces as many clients return each month for materials or services. The center provides free pregnancy tests, sonograms, and materials. If you need to visit the boutique, just be sure there are 30 days between your visits as they have to space them out to help as many women as possible.

This CPC does not provide abortion services and may not even refer you to an abortion provider. You probably won’t receive unbiased information at this center.
