Austin Marble & Granite

Wanted to update what I found upon making my own repair. The sink itself had been glued in. The glue failed. There are no clips as Ty told me that they would have used. You would normally use clips to hold a sink in place. It was only a matter of time before the sink fell into the cabinet below. Incredibly bad workmanship. An Ty’s flippant attitude on this is what makes me come to this site to review his company.
I will say again. Do not use this company. They are TERRABLE!!!

I engaged Austin Marble & Granite in ⁴⁄₂₀₁₄ to replace the counters in my kitchen and bathroom, paying a deposit at that time to secure 2 slabs of stone for the project. I really liked the work examples I was shown and the 2 slabs that I believed I was purchasing were perfect for my project.
Construction on my home was delayed until ⁴⁄₂₀₁₅ — I kept in contact with the company and the owner Tyrone Bartos during that time and was assured they would be ready to proceed when I was. Long story short, once I was ready to proceed I found out the original slabs had never been ordered, and I would need to use different stone.
I was super excited about getting this project done so I pressed on. It started out well but went downhill quickly. Emails/​phone calls/​texts went unreturned and appointments were blown off. Ty changed the scope of work — starting on the bathroom fabrication without my signoff on material or pricing, refusing to give me an updated contract, taking one month to complete 3 bathroom counters (during which time I had no access to bathroom sinks) and then refused to complete the kitchen on the terms he had proposed, asking for another $ 4500 (This is after I’d already paid $ 4600 out of $ 6000 for the entire project). There was also minor damage incurred to my bathroom walls during the installation process which was never fixed.
He has refused to return the stone and sink which I paid for directly to the stoneyard and manufacturer (another $ 3000 on top of the amount I paid to him) and I am in the middle of pursuing civil and criminal charges to recoup these losses as well as a Better Business Bureau complaint. Ty in fact called and texted while I was writing this review to demand additional money, threaten to take me to court, and tell me that he has no intention of returning my property.
Don’t make the same mistake I did, this is the biggest scam or fraud I’ve ever experienced and it is going to cost me more money still to clean up the mess.

Do not use this company!!! My experience with Austin Marble and Granite was the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I waited 3 hours past when he said he’d be at my house, just for his team to show up and measure my counters wrong. They came back and remeasured a few days later and them told me they would it install my granite a few days after that. A few days later I showed up at my new house at the time of our appointment, Ty, the owner, and his team were not there so I called numerous times trying to get a hold of him. His secretary told me twice that he’d call me back and he didn’t. I ended up waiting 6 hours for his guys to show up and start their work. Ty finally called me back and ended up yelling at me on the phone and was very disrespectful. I tried to tell him that his company messed up with my appointment earlier that day and he accused me of claiming that he runs his business in a shady way, which he does. I reminded him that I was the customer and all he did was keep yelling at me for his mis doing. He accused my other family members that he had spoken to as liars. I asked him to please hold and he hung up on me. I have never experienced such disrespect and dishonesty DO NOT TRUST this guy! As for the actual work this company did, my granite wasn’t done that well and when I addressed issues I had with the work to Ty he came up with some lie of how to fix it and when I objected he wouldn’t listen. I would NEVER recommend such an awful company to anyone!

Worst work/​workers ever! No ethics at all! Save your money because he will connive and get it any way he can. Ask anyone that has had them do work or his vendors. ALL have had problems with this company and to even call it a company is a joke! Run away as fast as you can. Do not allow yourself to become another sucker! Avoid Austin Marble and Granite at all cost! DO NOT MAKE YOURSELF MISERABLE by using this bogus outfit! Nothing in your home will be safe and I am not kidding!
Sad that this guy still does business unethically as I update this in 2014. STAY AWAY and keep your sanity. You cannot even imagine how bad his work is… no words can even express it! Does a good business keep moving around to hide from vendors as well as unhappy customers? This one does! He has run from people that he owes money to and and he will hide from you after he has your money and left you with the ugliest work you can imagine!

Avoid them!!! Ty was very eager to get our deposit for vanity tops and then was a no show multiple times. Then he called to increase price for demo which was included in what he quoted. Very shady. Then could not get him to do install as committed nor would they answer calls. Tracked them down by calling every number they had. Linda agreed to refund our credit card so met her at shop. She ran refund in front of me, but must have cancelled after I left. 2 weeks and no credit has posted to account. They will not return calls or answer phones. Dispute has been filed with our credit card agency to charge them back. Will see how they respond, likely going to have to file police report for fraud. Save your money and sanity and go with someone else if you want granite.
Update: On ¹⁄₁₉ (over 3 wks later) the credit posted on our credit card, subsequently Austin Marble and Granite told us they issued the refund in error. They stated that since we signed a contract we were legally obligated to pay them again or they would sue us…
