I’ve never reviewed anything before. That’s how big of an impression this place left on me… I feel compelled to speak up. Honestly, this is the worst customer service experience I have ever had… Long story short, we bought a crappy off brand charger that messed up two older model
MacBooks. We knew the news would be bad, but at several different points, I was quoted everything from $ 50 to $ 900 to fix each computer. Eventfully, the end result was a $ 900 quote per computer so I went to pick them up and just cut my losses. As a side note, when I originally went to drop my computers off, without even looking at them, the technician told me the motherboards were probably fried and immediately started trying to sell me a $ 1200 computer.
I dropped my computers off on a Friday, and I was told I would hear something by Monday. I didn’t hear anything all week and so on Thursday I called to check in. That’s when I was told it was going to be a very minimal repair and that someone would call me on Friday. Someone did call me on Friday, and that’s when I was quoted the end $ 900/​per computer. He told me I could pick them up that afternoon. I couldn’t make it on Friday so I went in on Saturday afternoon. My computer was ready but I was told that they «couldn’t find» my husband’s laptop. What in the world? No apologies. Nothing. Some dude just came out and told me. Finally, after waiting forever in silence with this guy, someone else said they found it but weren’t sure which hard drive belonged to my husband. At this point, I’m pretty fed up. I felt like I had been given the run around for over a week. I left the store with a promise that they would call me on Monday after they figure out which hard drive belongs to my husband. This place is such a nightmare that I’ve thought about reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. Save yourself the headache (and massive bill) and run to the nearest Apple Store instead.

These guys do everything they can to help you with your machine, even if it’s an older model. If you go to the Apple store, they’ll just tell you to upgrade. At MacWorks they’ll help you try to solve the problem, and if they can’t, they can work with you to get a good price on a gently used or brand new model.
Don’t expect instant turnaround, but as with anything, you have to pick two: Fast, Good, Cheap. These guys’ services are reasonably priced, and they know what they’re doing. I’ll definitely use them again in the future for my Macs. Thanks Norm!

Jose was my go-​to tech guy at MacWorks for 6 weeks as we worked through the logic board failure on my 2011 MacBook Pro. He guided me through the whole process of getting Apple to cover the repairs, and when that didn’t work, he gave me solid advice for how to get Apple to replace my machine for free under their recall.
Jose loaned me a flash drive so I could take my current projects with me to work on while they worked on my machine. He always returned my calls promptly, was very courteous & understanding of my frustration (since it was on Apple, not MacWorks, that this ordeal took 6 weeks!).
And when my new machine finally arrived, Jose prioritized getting the data transferred from my old hard drive to the new one to make the transition as fast & painless as possible for me. I was happy to pay MacWorks out of pocket for that great time & energy saving service!
I know EXACTLY where to go for my future Mac repairs. I can’t imagine how much more frustrating it would have been to make countless Genius Bar appointments while this ordeal drug on & on, compared to how easy it was to have one tech managing my issue the entire time who was always reachable by phone/​email & who always greeted me with a polite smile when I walked through their door.
I can’t speak highly enough of this reputable, respectable, and professional authorized Apple repair store.

We took my daughter’s Apple laptop here because it was running slow and wasn’t charging. And I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of taking it to an Apple Store.
The intake process was quick, efficient, and we got all of the information we needed. But, this guy was so gruff and short with us that it was comical – it was like the G&M Steakhouse in the 80s – performance art! We received our diagnostic call a day earlier than the time Porcupine Man gave us. The technician was pleasant to deal with. He said the laptop needed a new battery and additional memory sticks. He told us this was simple work that would not take long, but we left without an estimate of the number of days it would take to get the work done. This was a mistake.
After several days (over a week) passed without any contact from Austin MacWorks, we visited the store to check on their progress with the laptop. It was finished! I don’t know how long it had been sitting there. The person who checked us out was surprised that we had not gotten a call to say that the repair/​upgrade was complete. Regardless, the charge was reasonable and the computer works quite well now.
So there you are. Honestly, I don’t know how to fairly rate this business. They have a person meeting with customers who should not be doing that, but he is competent. They called us with a correct diagnosis earlier than expected. Their technical service was excellent. They don’t overcharge. The failure to call us after the work was complete was not good, but if we’d had a compelling need for the laptop, we’d have called sooner and found out it was finished. They are far more convenient than the Apple Store, which is about 75% of the reason we went there in the first place. I’m going to give them four stars because they got the things that matter right.

I previously wrote a review about Austin MacWorks. This is an update. I am extremely pleased with the work they did on my 2008 iMac. Great price, and Robert was especially helpful. I would definitely go back to them. The down side is that it does take a very long time to even get the diagnostic part done, and they could use some kind of management. When I hadn’t heard anything for over 2 weeks, I called and the 2 people I talked to were very confused. They couldn’t find me or my Mac in the system (frightening), when they finally figured it out, they gave me a lower price of what the cost would be than it actually was. I was told I would get a phone call when the diagnostic was done, but nobody called. It seems like it would benefit them to have someone in charge of customer service.

Excellent. Fast. Honest. Apple certified. I’m going here from now on for any of my computer problems. So happy with the results!

after i took my computer to the Apple store and was referred to this location, i was advised my issue could be due to two reasons. i took my desktop, they advised that the diagnostic fee would be waived if i decide to have them fix it. i was quoted a time frame, the time frame was not honored and was pushed back a day. the repair ended up costing more than the price of my machine so i did not use their service and paid the diagnostic fee. i also had to request the diagnostic report with my receipt.

CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!! EVEN IF YOUR PRODUCTS ARE OUT OF WARRANTY STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! I can’t believe that this is an Apple certified repair facility but I am planning on sending this information directly to Apple. Whoever answers their phone is rude, condescending, and a total rip off artist. I called for a quote on a cracked iphone 6 screen and while almost sounding annoyed they quoted me over $ 300 and said that it would take 3 to 4 business days to fix. I took my phone directly to Apple in the Domain & they fixed it for $ 109 the same day. Don’t walk away from this business, RUN!!!

I had tough experience here with my iMac. The Apple store at the Domain referred me to them with a bad a hard drive. The Apple Store people had plugged it in and the monitor was working fine, just a bad hard drive. Macworks charged me $ 160 to remove my hard drive and try to see if they could get any data off it. They called and said no luck with the hard drive but also that my monitor was not working. When I went to pick it up they basically said tough luck.

Just picked up my MacBook Pro after being told yesterday when I called in to inquire about its status, that they had begun the diagnostic and would get back with me shortly on the results. After a full day with no call back, I decided to pick up my laptop and was told nothing had been done to it… after 3 days. I absolutely love being lied to!

beware. these guys will try to charge you for warranty issues that Apple will fix for free
I’ve heard good things about the customer service there but be ready to open your wallet for that privilege.

This is about as good as customer service gets. I dropped my Mac Book Pro and they did everything they could and then told me that I would be best off letting them send it to Apple. I got it back very quickly for a very fair price and it works great. Then I was talking to Ramana and he noticed my busted screen on my Iphone and volunteered to repair that for me without my even asking!!! As the GM of a upscale Italian restaurant, I can truly appreciate their focus on taking care of their customers. This place is one of the best in Austin and if you need any work done I would highly recommend them.

My 2013 MacBook pro’s screen stated messing up, vertical lines appeared and color distortion at the bottom. Being as the laptop was under warranty and that I did not want to go to the domain, I went on apples website and saw Authorized Repair shop Austin MacWorks. So I headed down with the laptop and walked in. I was greeted by someone working at a workbench. I told him the issue, opened up the laptop and instantly he said «Did you drop this?» no. «Do you have kids or pets that could have knocked this over?» no. Well this will not be covered under warranty, because you can see the screen is messed up and apple will deny it. I had never dropped the laptop, there were no scratches, dents or anything else that would even suggest that. I said, well that sucks they wont honor their warranty… How much is another screen? He said hold on. Brings in another guy from the back, guy says instantly again «ohhh man, those are really expensive… like $ 1200 or so.» That sucks, its a company laptop. So I said thanks for the 30 seconds of help and left.
I took the laptop back to work, and had my IT guy bring it to the apple store at the domain. Fully covered by apple and the part was actually $ 600.
So I do not know if they just didn’t want to work on it for warranty reasons, or they just do not know what in the world they are talking about. But if you’re wanting warranty work, do not take your Mac here.

They are amazing!!! Every time I use their services I’m amazed at how simple they make everything seem. I had them overhaul my iMac and reorganize the OS on different drives. When they set it up, they said nobody has ever asked us to do this. But they did it. Then I ran out of space and needed them to undo what they had done and boom. Fixed.
I used to own a tech company and I outsourced all of my repairs to them. I’ve never been let down there. I work with José a lot and he knows what he’s talking about.
PLUS they have awesome apple accessories that you probably haven’t seen online before. Go in and check it out.

I believe they know what they are knowledgable and can help most problems. My computer had some serious issues that were mostly resolved. My main complaint is not everyone that may work on your computer is the most personable and clear on timing of repairs. There are a few staff you need to gravitate to when you stop in for assistance.

My wife’s macbook wouldn’t power on, so we took it to AMW since they’re nearby. They told us 3 business days to diagnose the problem. That seems pretty long, but whatever, I guess if they’re good, they’ll be busy. 3 days go by and we call them & they haven’t looked at it. 2 days later they think it’s the hard drive but want to see our power cord. Really? 2 days later they tell us it’s bad software and to pick it up in 2 days. 3 days later we pick it up, bring it home, and see they forgot to screw the bottom plate back together w/​the body.

I took my Macbook Pro (late 2011) version here to get its cracked glass (not screen) repaired. They quoted me 3 days, but it took 8 due to them ordering the wrong part. When I received my Macbook, everything looked OK, but I noticed the screen coming loose at the bottom as I shut the screen. This has been happening for about a month now, and I’ve just ordered double-​sided tape so I can do the job I paid them $ 300 to do. It would have been easier for me to buy the materials (less than $ 100) and do it myself.
Very disappointed.

I’m not sure whether this is a totally fair review considering I didn’t go in and PAY for a service. However, I did receive service. And here’s why.
I drop in the AT&T store (next door) because I’ve had the most irritating lack of service problem for the past two weeks. The Chad helps me out — he’s a nice phone dude and activates a new SIM card for me BEFORE we take the old one out. Then we try and get the old SIM card out and both fail miserably. He suggests I go talk to the dudes next door at MacWorks.
I head over and encounter John Johnson, who helped me out for no charge. I’m sure they get AT&T folks coming over all the time for stupid crap like that but he just smiled and got out a huge pair of tweezers. For one terrifying moment, I thought it was some vague hint about my brows but then he plied that tool and popped the SIM card tray out.
I took my old phone back to AT&T and we were able to complete the transfer. It was a little thing but totally crucial. if I’m ever supposed to actually use my phone for you know, work. Or taxis at 2a.
If I have issues with my other Mac products, I’ll bring them here. That’s how you get customers for life.

Austin MacWorks always has a smile on their faces.
Oh, maybe because I just bought a computer for three grand.
Doesn’t matter. The store is great, the staff in knowledgeable and helpful, and what? it’s right around the corner from me.
Right now, I cannot think of a better feeling than carrying the biggest, newest Mac out to my car, and that Austin MacWorks helped me do it.
