History

Established in 1970.

Austin Lone Star has been open for about 45 years, only charging $ 2.00 per night when it opened. Originally the park only had 47 sites but in 1997 additions were added to the back of the park bringing the total number of sites up to 144 plus 12 cabins. There’s lots of history around Austin Lone Star, in fact just south of the resort, Willie Nelson used to frequently play free concerts! There’s much to see and experience so come and check us out!

Meet the Manager

Chuck and Sharon K.

Manager

Chuck and Sharon are both originally from Western New York near Niagara Falls, and have been married for 37 years. They have one son, Kyle who lives nearby in Austin and every summer they return to their cottage on Lake Ontario to see family and friends. They both moved to Austin in 2006 after Chuck retired as a supervisor at a General Motors rapid prototype model shop after 30 years, and Sharon retired as a Certified Pharmacy Technician after 32 years. Sharon started working for Austin Lone Star shortly after the park was purchased by Carefree and they both became park managers in 2009.
