Austin Duck Adventures

If you are into architecture, this tour is good for you. The other tours we took didn’t really focus on details regarding the architecture on some buildings/​homes. Also, if you are into wanting to see the hill country & city, this tour is a good way of seeing both of those areas. Lastly, this tour has a lot of people on the tour so if you are looking for a quiet/​privates/​small group experience, this tour may not be for you. However, the guide speaks loud enough on the speakers to where you can hear over the quacking & talking of the kids. The tour guide even gives a courtesy disclaimer to the parents to make sure they don’t annoy their neighbors or talk too loud. :)
We got 2 adult tickets off of Groupon for $ 28. We did this tour after doing a segway choose cruise with Segcity, and the Real Austin tour with Austin Detours. It was nice considering how we thought the duck adventure was going to cover the same points of interest & information as the other companies/​tours. However, we saw a couple of things we did not see in the previous tours and learned some information that was not discussed in the other tours and that certainly was refreshing. I am so glad that the duck adventure took us outside of downtown and into Texas Hill Country. This tour covered the capital, the Texas state museum, moons towers, info on the dam, architecture, 6^th street, and popular places to eat. It was worth the deal on Groupon. However, if the Groupon is not available and you have to pay full price, it is worth it too. Also, the duck adventure is not a hop on hop off kind of tour. You stay in the vehicle the whole time. :)

Great tour on a great day. Driving into the lake was a smidge disconcerting but a lot of fun looking at all the houses on the lake.

Had a blast on this tour! We bought two tickets from groupon. I learned lots of historic facts about Austin through our tour guide. I think his name was Ralph. He was really nice, informative and animated! Best part was my free duck whistle! Would do this tour again!

Nice excursion, kind of low key. Other duck tours we’ve been on were a lot more lively with more music, etc. Also, we arrived about 25 mins before departure and the girl in the office first told us that we should wait in the lounge until the boarding call, then came over a couple of minutes later to tell us that she was sorry, the boarding had already been called and that we should wait outside. We waited and waited with another two families until about 3 mins before departure time, when I decided to walk down the street and turn the corner and there was the duck tour bus almost ready to leave! Nobody told us that we had to go and look for it so several passengers almost missed the tour.

The tour guide Bob Ojeda is so relaxed and cool especially when it comes to children. Our experience was great!

Great 1 ½ hrs seeing and learning about the history of downtown Austin as well as floating in Lake Austin. The tour guide keep everyone entertained and made the trip that much more worth it.

Not a bad way to get to know Austin a bit better. $ 28 for two tickets on Groupon. Check in inside (there’s parking across the street in the outdoor parking lot for $ 10 and its good for 10 hours). They will announce 20 minutes till to head around the corner where the boat is parked.
Corny comedy, but that’s what you get with family friendly tours.

We originally had tickets to go on the tour on October 31^st. We spent the morning waiting for the tour to get going. 45 minutes AFTER the scheduled start time, they cancelled the tour. I just tried to reschedule only to be told their policy was not to honor the Groupon during Thanksgiving. That’s fine, but it’s not my policy to sit somewhere and wait around for 45 minutes only to be told we’re not going on a tour. I am very unimpressed with their complete lack of customer service.

We have taken our grandchildren on the Duck Tour several times and they love it. I have been around the Austin area 11 years and I enjoy the slower ride around the historic downtown area. Our guide today was Darrell and he was interesting, informative and funny. The kids, who are under 8years old, enjoy the feeling of being outside, the duck whistles and especially going into the lake. It is a fun time and a great tour for locals or tourists.

It was a fun quick way to show my friends from out of town where I live. Our driver was funny and helpful. He gave us tips of where to go for music and/​or food, and even other tours people can take. I liked the fact that their services ran in time. All in all it was a wonderful experience.

I was looking for something fun to do with the family and came across their deal on Groupon. $ 28 for 2 people. We bought an extra ticket for our tween and kids under 2 are free. We LOVED the tour! What better way to explore the city than on land and water?! Captain Tim was so entertaining. I’ll be sure to bring my out of town family when they come to visit :)

If you don’t have kids with you, skip this tour. I’d seen Duck Adventure tours in every big city area that has a lake or ocean nearby. This time, I had some time on my hands and was seeking a tour to learn about the area. I decided that I could never convince my husband to pay to get on a contraption that dubs as a boat and a duck, so I might as well do it while I was alone for the day.
I took the early tour. It left out of the tourism center, just a short walk from our hotel, the Residence Inn. Darrell came in to to center, made the announcement that he was there and and walked out. Luckily, I was ready and waiting, otherwise if I’d had have been in the bathroom or not paying attention to the one time announcement, I might have missed the boat.
We started the tour on land and Darrell seemed to do a fine job cracking jokes and keeping the kids entertained, but when it came to learning about history and the city in general, I thought that the tour was lacking and not at all worth the price of admission. Later, I even learned a couple of the accusations that he made on the tour weren’t fact.
My favorite part of the tour was when we reached Austin Lake. This was the only part of Austin that I’d not yet made my way to, so even though he dropped yet a few more restaurant promotions, along the lake ride, I liked gliding along the lake. It only seemed to be about a 15 minute ride up the lake and back, but still the highlight of the tour for me.

We love this tour. We’ve been 3 times when guests come to visit and it never disappoints. Our 2 yo loves it too and will sit the whole 75 min tour watching and listening. That is pretty amazing! Lots of good info but not boring and the splash into Lake Austin is fun

Great tour! We had a blast. The only thing we did not like was one of the other guest who was a chinese woman with three young kids allowed her kids to climb all over everything. It was annoying, but I realize that they can’t control those people.

The tour guide was good but the tour itself was not what I expected. I thought I would learn a little bit more about the city since I’m new to austin that’s the kind of tour I was looking for. I would recommend it to people who have kids I guess it’s more geared towards families.

The duck adventures was my favorite part about visiting Austin. I absolutely fell in love with the city and its history. You also go into the water and tour the lake. It was a super fun adventure for all age groups. QUACK!

My family loved the tour! Bob was awesome! I don’t think the tour would have been the same without Bob.
I could have done without all the restaurant promoting & a little more history, but at the same time we found some great places to eat!

Expensive for not much. The tour of downtown was somewhat interesting and entertaining, but we just saw a bit of 6^th street and the Capitol. Most of the tour is heading west of downtown through some pretty, but unimpressive and uninteresting neighborhoods while the guide regaled us with stories of evil and violent Native Americans and Matthew McConaughey. We eventually got to Lake Austin and the duck did a quick little loop in the water before heading back. Overall the trip was kind of boring and unimpressive, especially for how much we paid for it.

I took my son on this tour today and we both had a great time. Our driver was Randy and he was warm, down-​to-​earth, and friendly. He automatically made everyone on board comfortable with his jokes, music trivia, and seemingly limitless breadth of city information. He did all that while still sounding like he wasn’t putting on an act, either. He was genuinely happy to be there, and you can’t ask for a whole lot more than that!
The bus was clean and in great condition. Sit on the right for a slightly better experience. The ride was smoother than I expected, which I was especially thankful for as I can become motion sick. He drove safely, no lurching or more bouncing than expected, and I noticed on a couple occasions that Randy stopped at the yellow lights instead of gassing it. I learned a few things and had a few laughs along the way.
He didn’t encourage an excessive amount of quacking (thank god), just a small handful of occasions that fit in. Other than a couple exuberant quackers on board, it was just right for us.
The ride is about an hour and 15 minutes long (I think?), and I swear he was talking the entire time. That guy knows his stuff!

This was the first time I tried a duck tour. We don’t have this bus/​boat concept and thought it would be a fun experience. So glad I tried it!
Our driver was Bob (a teacher). He was so funny! I laughed throughout the trip. He was so knowledgable too and gave little tips about the best places to eat etc. I loved that the bus also went in the lake. I would definitely do this again and recommend it to everyone I know.
