I ordered some wings and onions rings, they were really good! They have drinks specials every day!

I’m reviewing the Rec Sand Vball league. The bar itself is pretty cool, and the venue is really awesome. It was fun to play there, but to play in the organized league was awful. For all those considering playing in a league: 1. The«Rec» part is kind of misleading. True rec means, realistically, teams of people who mostly are brand new or play infrequently. The teams that were playing seem to play more frequently than that/played high school, though they arent Dalhauser for sure. It should be labeled as a ‘B’ league. This is just a minor annoyance, but one that really just would take 10 seconds to fix, and would save teams like ours from having to go through a season losing all our games by 10 points. 2. I didn’t get a single email, despite being expected as team captain to have recieved and read them. Which is also very minor, but, like 1, points to the larger problem: 3. The staff RUNNINGTHEVBALL(bar staff was very nice) are lazy, incompetent, and petty(yes, I recognize the irony of writing a crazy long negative review and calling someone else petty, but hear me out). They scoff at/actively discourage/make fun of teams that suck, even though this is a league ADVERTISEDASREC. The refs’ calls are fair for the level(no lifts basically, etc), but if you’re down by 10 or more, the refs will, and this is the most important part, they will intentionally make bad calls against your team so they can go home sooner. They will justify this by «you’re losing anyway» and get really pissy at you, as if you didnt pay money to play the full, fair game every week. Same goes for if they dont like you for whatever reason. All leagues need some sort of team regulation to make play fair at each level, and it appears to me this league does it only via rudeness towards the bottom teams in every division so they feel unwelcome and leave. Well, it worked; our team will never be back. I was a rec league ref for 6 years at a 8 court facility in Wisconsin(Center Court Waukesha), and was good friends with the great organizer over there, so I understand this might be construed as a pissed off team that sucks and is blaming the refs and the organizers. Please don’t make the mistake of thinking that. Also relevant: some friends not on the team are playing at Austin Social Club and are having none of these problems, so this isnt rose colored glasses either. From someone who used to do this to you all who currently are: you’re doing a bad job, you’re being lazy, and I will never return to play at your place again. I will come back for a drink though, since like I said, the venue is pretty awesome.

I’m only giving it a 3 because of the volleyball courts but it is a great place to drink some brews with friends and bring your dog to the large patio. The food sucks and the servers are nice but aren’t rockstars. I’ve had better food at hot dog stands

I love playing volleyball and chilling on patio at Aussie’s(hence, the 3 stars), but the food is pretty bad. I’ve never had mixed drinks there, so I can’t speak to that. The beer prices are reasonable, but the services out on the patio is always spotty. We usually have to flag someone down to get service. Great idea for a bar, but poor execution.

This place is great! There’s tons to do, the staff is friendly(and attractive), they have a great drink selection and not to mention its on a totally rad part of town. Even the regulars here are a hoot! Volleyball, corn hole, badass food, beautiful people everywhere, a huge dog friendly patio, food specials after 11(maybe 1130?), I’m for sure coming back! Aussies is the bees knees!

Good food for a bar. Service is a little slow, but the staff is very friendly. Drinks are great and reasonably priced.

I have been here for lunch many times, and honestly the food is subpar. I went for an after hour party celebrating a co-workers birthday and we had a great time. The apps are awesome. However, the service was sort of lacking.

Still like the food but going to a three star the quantity of the ham on the hot ham and cheese now. I’ve been coming here for years and they used to pile on the ham. Now it’s like 2 slices. Please reply to this review when y’all start putting more ham back on as I’m probably not coming back till this happens

I feel obligated to give Aussie’s a minimum of 3 stars since I play volleyball there all the time and it’s basically my second home. But damn, someone please ‘bar rescue’ the place. If you must order food, get the fish tacos.

Cool place to come Chill, drink cold beer, & play Volleyball! Came in yesterday as a last minute Happy Hour place before another event, and was pretty please with little dive-like bar. $ 3.50 beer on Tap, $ 3.00 wells & frozen Margaritas. Not too shabby to be honest… if it’s your 1st time, think Beach Dive Bar and you’ll fit right in! After several cold ones, I broke into a couple Blackened Shrimp Tacos, and tore them up like a starved Redneck! Not too big, but definitely not too small either. Tacos were packed full of flavor, served with pico de gallo & jalapeño ranch tartar sauce. Two Thumbs Up! Can’t wait to come back once the Texas Heat returns outside!

I went here to grab a quick drink during the day and was a little disappointed. I had heard this place was fun for drinks and gatherings. I’m not sure if I found it lackluster though because their appeal seems to be more from their beach volleyball court and I was visiting during Novemeber. Yet, despite it being November, Aussie’s was incredibly hot inside. I was sweating and it was only 70 out. I can’t imagine what this place would be like when it’s a typical 100 degree summer day. I also thought the bar area was small and didn’t really offer much atmosphere.

The service here was friendly and fast. It’s beach bar with live volleyball on location you fill like your at the beach. I love The sloppy nachos. Homemade chips smothered with our sausage queso and homestyle Chili’s topped with diced onions and jalapenos it’s a complete meal. They have quite a burger menu and dingo dog also. The bar is friendly I would give them a try.

Here’s the deal. Food-wise Aussie’s is barfood and has had the same menu for 20 years. You won’t find gourmet lamb tacos and kombucha here, but you will find a menu that has good variety. You can get a variety of burgers. A couple different kinds of chicken plates besides chicken wings. Chilli. Catfish. Tuna. You get the picture. I love their macaroni and cheese as a side. And steamed broccoli— is always good. Their salsa is some supermarket salsa like Pace that may be acceptable in Iowa while I remind myself they buy from a distributor and get what they get, and the owner here isn’t trying to compete with the sea of Tex Mex i Austin nor keep pace as the food quality index in Austin has risen and things have become more trendy. Why come here? Well, their flat screen TV’s aren’t tied to each other meaning you can ask for a game. And get it. And just hang out. As a regular I always feel taken care of. Always. Which means I live in an alter universe of sorts after reading some of the reviews, here. The staff knows what I drink, and it’s easy to get to know the staff. Hear their stories. Super easy, in fact. What I get is a healthy dose of casual and genuine, and some folks spend a few years here before eventually moving on. One waitstaff explained it this way— a lot of places the managers yell at you, but here the managers chip in. Am guessing it stems from an owner with an old Austin attitude. So, that’s the deal. Less packaged and more real. Sensible. And not trying to prove much. I’ve been there on succeeding Sundays recently. It was dead one Sunday. And packed the next. I catch predicting crowd size is like predicting the weather, at least here, and varies. A lot. So, yeah, I’ve caught moments when I know I have to wait. But, I’m there for the game and catch the bigger picture that it’s not a place that runs on an old school attitude but doesn’t run on neglect.

Stopped in for a qick bite before a boat ride… staff is friendly but definitely not a quick bite. Ordered two appetizers & it took over 30 minutes. Food was less than good. Considering the place isn’t that full I would think service would be quick but NOT.

Came in to watch the Indy 500. They turned on the tv and sound for us. Excellent Bloody Mary’s, nice beer selection, and good food. Would definitely recommend.

We were staying at a nearby hotel and due to unseasonably cold weather we were looking for a reasonably priced place within walking distance and we ruled out all the food trucks. I had the clam chowder and it really just tasted like it was dumped from a can. Hubby had the BLT which he liked. Our son had the chicken sandwich which he said was good and the chicken was really moist. The guys said the beer was cold and the waitress was nice. Overall though, it was not a place I would need to go back to.

This place was a nice stop considering last night’s freezing weather. The bartender girl who was our server as well was very nice and was fussing around our table. The mushroom hamburger was delicious and I liked their margaritas(not the frozen ones, however). One of the disadvantages of this kind of places is drunk people walking to your table not caring if you are having dinner with your boyfriend, and asking you some random drunk questions :) But overall, it was good :)

I will like you as long as I have a bikini body and the desire to eat cheeseburgers and drink beer while half naked next to a sand pit. …but now it’s winter time. So… this is awkward.
