Angel’s Formal Wear and Alterations

Took some dress slacks and shirts in to get refit — granted they were practically remakes, and I paid well for that, but they didn’t turn out all that well. Ana is super nice and does speak much better Spanish than English, and it’s possible that she does better work with dresses and such, but for my suit and shirt tailoring I’ll be going elsewhere.

I took four pieces to her. The easiest, a sew-​on button, she got right. The other three were all wrong. 1^st — I had a hole in my dress pants, which she patched with a different color! 2^nd — she sewed a rip in my shirt which fell apart as she handed it back to me. 3^rd — she was to shorten some sleeves, which were then way different size (one too long, one two short).
While she fixed the first two above, after trying to say everything was fine which it wasn´t, my 3^rd item (shirt with different sleeve sizes) is still wrong and she put lots of small holes into in when she was trying to fix it.
She did try and fix the items after I complained a lot but not worth the effort and I still don´t have good tailoring.

If you’re looking to get any sort of work done to your clothes, look no further! Ana is a very friendly and gives fair prices to all her clients. She is bilingual can speak Spanish and English (Ofcourse she speaks more spanish) but that doesn’t effect the work she gives! Visit her by the AMCO on Limerick. You won’t regret it!

I think Ana is a really nice gal, first of all. But… I had some athletic pants (like workout pants) to be hemmed up. Apparently she cut the inside fabric too short so they bunched up when I bend down (and cut too short overall, floods.)
So, went back to have them fixed (finally got a hold of her after going by a few times, trying to call and having the phone hung up or something.)
She did it for free, appropriately, but actually made them worse. Rather than go back and forth I ended up throwing them out. I’ll just buy another pair and go somwhere else. LIke I said, she’s very nice but I won’t be going back.

I found Angel’s Alterations and Ana in 2009 (?) when I had to have bridesmaids dress # 12 hemmed. David’s bridal quoted me $ 65 on my $ 99.99 dress. Uh, no. Ana charged me $ 20. It looked great and was done in under 2 weeks!!!
I came in another time with an armful of stuff. Skirt to have zipper replaced, boyfriend’s jeans to have hole in knee patched, slacks hemmed, another dress hemmed. $ 75 for all! Amazing!!!
I work in bridal and the work done by our in-​house alterations is superb! Their work is guaranteed which explains that the cost is a bit more. However, if I have a bridesmaid on a time or money crunch I am more than happy to recommend Angel’s Alterations! I have only seen one wedding gown altered here and it was a friend’s very delicate silk Maggie Sottero. You could see the stitch marks on the hem, however I have a feeling it might have been the material.
I have probably referred 20 bridesmaids and special occasion customers to Ana and would do it again! Heck I did it yesterday! In sales you don’t want to cut off your nose to spite your face. If I can help someone get a dress she loves or needs by saving her money on the alterations side, I will absolutely help her by sending her here!!!
Side note: Ana. (and her sister, I believe) speak little English. That being said, she will absolutely be able to understand your requests and desires even if you don’t speak broken Spanish like I do! You might not be able to chitty chat, but your items will be flawless — so do not let this scare you off!
I know small businesses will sometimes give a discount for cash. I haven’t tried this myself, but suggested this to the bridesmaids I had yesterday and saw another Unilocaler post the same thing!
ALSO. When I was there last she had a ton of beautiful beaded kinda slinky/​sheath formal gowns for sale. Gorgeous and cheaper than some of the simpler, lower quality dresses I’ve bought at David’s bridal in the past.

Probably not an issue if you’re functionally good at Spanish. But I guarantee you WILL get men’s pants altered too short. They loooove hemming pants short. So, unless you’re preparing for a flood– be very specific about your lengths and even still you can count on them being a half inch too short. They error on the side of taking out more material — which seems like the opposite of what makes sense. Ive gotten at least 10 pairs of pants there, most of those ended up going to buffalo exchange three of them i put on today and feel self conscious about my socks showing. Not sure why I keep letting them ruin my pants!

I of course waited until the last minute to have my bridesmaids dress altered. A few of the places I called actually laughed at me over the phone when I told them I had less than 2 weeks! But Angel said she would get it done. She had a lot on her plate so it wasn’t ready when she first thought it would be, but was done just a couple days later. I had plenty of time before the wedding. I don’t know how much alterations normally are. At first they were supposed to be 150 but she lowered it to 100. Also if you pay with cash it’s a smidge cheaper.

Before I could even blink she repaired the hole in my pants. Before I could pull out my wallet she says,” No charge.” This lady has earned my alteration needs for life.

I have been here a few times to have some pants hemmed.
Her prices are very reasonable compared to some other places.
My pants were ready the next day. The lady is sweet but doesn’t speak English to well.

Ok, maybe she wasn’t Chip Taylor’s inspiration for Angel of the Morning, but I still get that song stuck in my head every time I drop stuff off to be altered. Great service and great quality! I have been coming here for a few years now, and have never been disappointed. The owner is very warm and friendly and her prices are extremely reasonable. She specializes in weddings and quinceaneras, and can do anything from intricate formalwear to hemming a pair of pants. Every time I come in, I feel like I’m talking to a long lost friend.

i have midgi legs, apparently, since every pair of pants i buy is about 9 inches too long. and here i always thought i was somewhat proportional. regardless, alterations tack an average of 20% onto the price of my pants. more if they’re jeans. add that to the fact that you have to wait like FOUR days to wear said pants, and it’s just a big ol’ pain.

anyway, i believe their main business is formals (they cater to the quinciniera crowd), but they do alterations too. and quick. i needed to have a pair of slacks altered before a trip and they were ready within 24 hours — all i had to do was ask. it also cost only $ 9 including tax for the alteration, which was done perfectly. the service is no-​nonsense and professional. i did have one experience where they told me to pick something up on thursday and they were randomly closed with no explanation, but it’s close enough to my office that i didn’t have to go way out of my way the next day. as long as i work up here, and have a disproportionate body according to banana republic, i will be using angel’s.
