Allstate Insurance: Steven Funk

I must say I’ve been very pleased and impressed with Steven and his staff’s professionalism and timeliness in getting back to you with any questions and or concerns. They may not always tell you what you want to hear but always provide you with the truth and options to fit your needs. It’s a breath of fresh air to work with someone who is honest, up front and dedicated to his clients. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a partnership in your insurance needs.

I feel such a relief! I have never had an insurance agent be so attentive to my needs and get back to me so fast. I feel I have not only a wise agent but a great friend too. Also he is very honest and creative with the options he tells me about! Thank you Steve and your awesome team!

I just found out they cancelled two of my policies without notifying me and without providing an explanation. I had no coverage for two months. I have never dealt with such incompetence in my life. I may contact TDI after all this. Absolutely terrible.

Steven Funk is located on Bee Caves Road as well as another location. I’ve stopped by the office more than once during 8 – 5 business hours and they were locked up. Unbelievable. There would be a note on the door circa 1940 in Europe stating that they would return but there was an offsite staff meeting or whatever.
I was in an accident and had been told that since I had a perfect driving record for 5 years my rates would not increase. After much research on Steven’s part (and tons of rigamarole with his minimally knowledgeable staff, I was told that he had misinterpreted the fine print and that this was not the case. Too bad so sad but he would send $ 100 worth of scammy coupons that I could use at local chain restaurants and could only access the coupons if I spent the same amount of money that I got discounted, for instance spend $ 20 get $ 20. Ugh.
I had Progressive in the past for auto insurance and it was much better, but I don’t think they do houses.

We have been customers of the Funk Allstate Insurance company for several years. We were with a different Allstate group before and the service here has been far superior to our past agent. They call to update and review all our policies annually. We either get our questions answered when we call or get a call back immediately. Everyone in the office has been very nice both in person and over the phone. We have not had one issue and we highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a policy in Austin. They are helpful, thorough and friendly!

Where to begin?
We have been with this agency for almost 15 years and for the most part it has been ok. i now believe that our experience was good because we never had much to do with them. they cashed our checks and would send me a proof of insurance card when i lost one. now it appears that when we really needed them to intervene on our behalf and help resolve issues with the Allstate machine they are no where to be found.
i will also be leaving a review for Allstae in general but be warned. in 15 years i have not spoken to anyone named Funk and it appears that no one in the angency can be bothered to take responsibility for helping us.
Maybe i will give them another star when i see how they handle my cancellation call!
An update;
i was contacted by the Funks and they took our issues very seriously. it appears that my daughters issues fell through multiple cracks, including messages left to a unmonitored land line. i am going to add two stars to my review because we were with the Funks for a very long time and they came across as very genuine in their concern when we spoke several times. We are still going to move ourt policies but it will not be done with a sense of frustration.

I was sold on the «local» and «Steve Funk is your neighbor» type of sales approach. Friendly, attentive at my initial quotes, and had a genuine air about selling me insurance.
However, once i was signed– that’s pretty much where the good customer service ended. Not only was i hindered by the crappy Allstate Corporate ma-​lay of bad communication: unanswered emails (sure, i got the Corp. Auto response…, but nothing after), and flat-​out BS about discounts (to which Allstate spends millions in Advertising them) and plain old misinformation which they can sell, but can’t back up with numbers– this is just a poor mix of Local sales and Corporate run-​around. As a general rule in business, «discounts» are measurable by what we call NUMBERS. I asked «where is the line that specifies the discount» as in a $Dollar$ amount– nothing. Just told that i received a «discount». What?
The local office people are completely inept. They absolutely ignored my questions for 2 weeks until i logged into
and removed my payment method (attention getter!). Then you get a sales pitch from an JERK of an office lady, who is also unable to take NO for an answer and still cannot fulfill my request without a severe explanation of what «Cancel» means.
Why even have a local sales team? They are unresponsive, unhelpful with actual problems and the only time Mr Funk is involved is with the initial «Sale» and to push you to his other crappy sales gimmick, his partnered Financial Planner. (which he gave my cell phone and i got 14 calls from another team of sales goons)
Like the Spice Trade, all the info flows from the parent Allstate planet, please tell me WHAT the local Funk team actually does, besides drum up more junky schlock to ‘sell’ me? Well, they sure-​as-​shit aren’t busy answering my e-​mails, and trying to keep a customer.
Stay away.

Warning. Worst customer service ever. I have had an on-​going issue with this all state agency for months. It eventually led me to cancel my auto and home policies and switch to State Farm. However Steven Funk’s agency continues to haunt me. They are trying to bill me for changes they made to my policy that I did not authorize and that I was not even aware of! Every time I call and try to discuss it with them, I am treated with extreme disrespect. Just today I was called a liar and was HUNG UP ON. Are we in 6^th grade? Do we call people liars and hang up on them when they are trying to resolve an issue? In addition I have asked numerous times to speak with a Manager or with Steven Funk himself, but he is never available and never returns my calls as promised. Thus far I have been very nice, but I’m about to lose my cool. What they are trying to do is unethical at best. I don’t even care about the $$ they want from me, I just want the issue resolved. But, try as I might, I can’t get them to move towards a resolution. Mr. Funk — If you’d like to resolve this issue please call me. I am more than happy to take care of this TODAY.
