This place tailored my jackets and did great. Cameron is awesome, fast, and informative.

Spent an hour at Ace to get everything fitted with a baby (which in my opinion is entirely too long for 2 items) The girl checking me out was painfully slow and didn’t know what she was doing. I rushed both of my items and specified that I needed them by 10am for our family photos, showed up at 11am and its not ready & she was borderline rude about it (apparently the girl who checked me out didn’t specify a time, shocker). She said it would be 20 minutes till they are done and I could sit and wait, I’ve got a whole family to get ready for our family photos but instead I’m sitting here waiting. Plus she had the nerve to still charge me the rush fee. Annoying.

I ordered my wedding dress from an online site. I knew it wasn’t exactly what I wanted but, I had a vision. I took the dress to Vanessa at the Walsh tarelton location. I explained my vision and after only a month she had it back to me exactly how I had imagined! I couldn’t be more thankful! Of all the stresses a wedding brings getting my perfect dress was not one of them! They are the only tailor in town that I trust with such an important garment! Thank you again!!!

Been going to Ace for years– taken them everything from formal gowns to jeans needing to be shortened with the original hem. Everything is always well done.

Between the guy not honoring the price he quoted (changed it as he was ringing me up), the incredibly long wait to pick up the shirt (3 people in line waiting while he measured a hem), and the unapologetic attitude, I would recommend that you go any place else than this. I give Ace 0 stars.

Meh. They don’t take ‘Go Local’ cards or give any types of discount.
I gave them a dress to hem and reinforce 6 small clasps on the back of the dress.
After 6 days I went in (seemed excessively long) but anyway walked in to pick up my dress. They had obviously forgotten about it. And said ‘Oh wait 20 – 30 minutes and we will work on it now.’ I left.
After 30 minutes I walked back in, it was done. One of the clasps hadn’t even been reinforced, although it was simple. The work on the hem looked okay, it wasn’t stellar, it wasn’t bad, it was okay.
I paid 26 dollars for 20ish minutes of work. No discounts for being late on their part, and making me wait.
Meh. I would think twice before going in here again. And so much for ”Express Alterations” only if they forgot about it 6 and a half days later…

I took in my WEDDING DRESS after I called and was told that they have a master tailor that works on gowns that need a bit of work. Being a pretty relaxed person in general I figured «Hey, why would they bluff and say that they could do something if they can’t.» I verified that I could come in at any time and that I could get the initial fitting underway. So I went it the next day, yada yada everything seemed ok — except I was told that they wouldn’t be able to help set up a bustle system or put cups in the dress. I also signed a contract that expels them of any responsibility if the dress is messed up and paid a deposit.
I only made it to the second fitting. I understand that the second fitting is just another way to say «making progress to the final goal» but after seeing the dress I took it home.
The lace was snagged in three noticeable places on the bodice of my gown. Also, there were two obvious seams that came up my torso (one on the right and one on the left) the right seam stopped on my rib cage and the left seam stopped around my belly button so that the dress hung crooked. Also the bust of the dress was two inches off of my skin. When I mentioned the concern that my chest would be visible I was told that they could take the dress in a little more «but not much because the boning would interfere.»
I took the dress off and talked to the woman who was helping me through the fittings about my concerns. I mentioned that I may take the dress to another tailor in Houston that I knew well, who could also do the bustle, cups and boning (not to mention the crooked seams). Ace Tailor’s lady insisted that I could meet with the master tailor (who may be able to take care of all of my requests after all). I’m just dumbfounded that the work wasn’t originally done by the Master Tailor or by someone that knew wedding dresses…
Also the price didn’t seem right at all. When I was upset she told me that I could have a discount on the price but then went back and said she would still have to add a few other charges… I just paid the fee, held my tongue and left.
Now I’ll have to find another place to get my jeans and sundresses altered because I will never go back here.

My husband took a pair of my pants into Ace the other day to get a hem fixed. Based on my experiences with other tailors, I expected to get them back in a few days and pay $ 5-​$ 10. Imagine my surprise when my husband came home with my hem fixed — and for free! They just took care of it right on the spot. Now, that’s how you earn return business!

So it was the day before my sister’s wedding and my bridesmaids dress didn’t fit. I took my dress in and in four hours they had it completely fixed and it fit perfectly! Also I couldn’t even see where they cut into the dress, it looked as good a when I bought it. I couldn’t believe it! The women who work there are amazing at what they do, they are very professional and know their stuff, and best of all they are nice and listen to what you want. I will definitely be taking all my future alterations here and will encourage everyone I know to go there too! Thank you so much again Ace Custom Tailors!

Ace Tailors was recommended to me by a friend and I went them to alter my wedding dress. The ladies were very helpful and kind throughout the process. It did take me a couple of fittings to get everything right, but it ended up being perfect. They were responsive to my feedback and quickly made the changes I requested. This is understandable that multiple fittings are needed for some garments — especially a wedding dress.
I found the price to be fair, and they were consultative as well as listened to my requests. I respect this in a service that they can provide their expertise and also provide advice.
And, the dress turned out to be exactly as I imagined it — even though I had hesitation before taking it to them that they could get it to fit. It was no easy task as it was a complex design and they knocked it out of the park. Thank you!

I brought my swimsuit in for repair before my vacation. They said they would replace the clasp. They waited 6 days before calling to tell me they did not have a new clasp after all and could not fix it. Unacceptable.

Never go here! I took my skirt to get it altered to match another skirt I owned. First of all, I didn’t even get any sort of greeting. After standing at the counter awkwardly for a while, I finally had to ask them how they were so they’d talk to me. When they finally responded, I explained to them what I needed done. They told me it’s too hard and the skirt I want to get altered looks nice as it is so I should just wear it like that. Seriously? I didn’t come to you for fashion advice.
Apparently at Ace Alterations, they only take the jobs they want. Don’t take them anything too difficult if you don’t want to get turned down!

My boss recommended Ace Tailors to me when I asked about a reputable shop. So far, they’ve altered my newest suit (pants hemmed, sleeve shortened) and replaced my sleeve insignia on my ASUs. This latter task is a difficult one that I don’t even trust the person at Camp Mabry to do.
I’ll have more for them to do in the coming month. As long as I remain in/​around Austin, Ace made another permanent customer.

I have gone to Ace Tailors on 12^th for 25 years ANC they have consistently done excellent work at a reasonable price. Plus the staff there seems to genuinely care in an old fashioned personal service way. I would highly recommend them.

I’ve been an Ace customer for 25 years. I’ve had dozens of suits, sport coats, and trousers altered to exacting specifications. The work is always top notch. Last week Josie and her crew altered new Versace, Martin Greenfield, and Hickey Freeman suits for me. They all look fantastic, as do the three summer suits that were taken in because I’d lost weight. You won’t find a better tailor in Austin.

I’ve been using Ace Tailors for 6 years and am lucky to have found them. This is the only location I trust to alter everything from my work attire to formal dresses. The atmosphere is always friendly and honest.
You may find them to be priced higher than other shops but it’s worth the $ to have the job done right. Some of my alterations have had to be done in stages or repaired do to wear, if an alteration isn’t to my liking they’ll fix it free of charge.
No they don’t accept AMEX and yes the turn around for an alteration can be up to a week but this just goes to show how busy they are and in most cases if you need a rush they’ll accommodate you.

Fantastic place to get your things altered! I went in there after having gone to Austin Alterations and Cleaners on Lamar (who told me it would be $ 200 to let out and hem my ball gown) to see what their price points were. Not only were they $ 80 cheaper but they were also extremely friendly and promised to have my gown ready in the short time I was needing. I will continue to come back here for any altering needs.

I took in four dresses for alterations.
It took 20 minutes to get somebody to direct me to try them on.
She then told me that a simple straight hem with ONE line of stitching across the bottom of a STRAIGHT dress would be $ 25 EACH. RIP OFF.
Then she argued that putting the belt back on the clothes before I picked them up would be an erroneous SIX dollar fee.
THEN one week later when my clothes were ready, my assistant went to pick the clothes up and they don’t take AMEX.
THEN the dresses weren’t steamed — they look like $@*T.
How do you HEM something without ironing or steaming it!!!
THEN — FOR THE LOVE OF GOD — The dresses are FILTHY. They hung them under a dirty door and must have opened the door onTOP of the dresses for hours.
One is white — and absolutely destroyed with oil.
THEY DESTROYED MY CLOTHES.
I must take them to a cleaners just to have a chance at wearing them.
So needless to say, «RUN»! This place is a total PIT OF FILTH.

I *want* to like this place. It’s hella convenient… right between where I work and where i live. They seem to know how to sew. They do a good job. But my god, they are expensive!!! You’ve been warned.

I’ve had great experiences each time I’ve brought something in to be tailored here. And they do same-​day alterations for only $ 3 extra!
