A Plus Transmission Specialists

I took my vehicle there a couple years back; 3,000 dollars later and my transmission is still doing the same thing it was before I took it. They tried telling me it was this and that. I used to rebuild transmissions for Ford motors so I know how things work.
They keep telling me its not the car, its me. How funny. Now the transmissions leaking very bad. Managers were switched out for whatever reason, but that doesn’t matter now. Please reconsider before taking it there. We all work very hard for our money and for a business to take that from us is UNACCEPTABLE.

Just two words! SIMPLE CROOKS! (especially the bald guy)
I paid 2700 $ for transmission repair for Honda OEM parts. but they put aftermarket parts. which cost significantly cheaper and needless to say ILLEGAL! I am also convinced it was just a small sensor/​solenoid problem which could have been fixed for couple of hundred bucks but they disassembled all clutch plates and made a nice story of worn parts! They even cheated me on warranty. They told me they will give 3 year warranty but only gave me warranty for 2 years. They flatly denied any such conversation! I am pretty sure I am almost overcharged close to 1200 $!!
Lesson Learned: TAKE EVERYTHING IN WRITING BEFORE YOU PUT A SINGLE DIME!
Stay Away! These people should be out of business, SUED in small claim courts and their license should be revoked for unethical business practices !
Just go to EAGLE transmission. They have much better reviews!

STAY AWAY… These people are completely inept and should not be in business.

Car had minor difficulty with shifting so took it in for a diagnostic at dealer and went to A Plus for a 2^nd opinion. Dealer quoted me at $ 1200, A Plus estimated $ 3000+ in work. As soon as I left I knew something was wrong, as shifting was virtually impossible. Thankfully I live very close and limped the car home. Had it towed to dealer for repair. Turns out A Plus drained the transmission fluid and never put it back when I declined service. Never go here.

I reviewed this company back in October 2010. I was the first to post a review. Felt so compelled to post for the bad and I believe dishonest service. My original review for some reason was moved into the not recommended to read area. Who knows how Unilocal makes those determinations. However I encourage you to read them for mine was totally honest. Long story short they did not honor their own coupon for a fluid change and said I had problems with my transmission which needed repair. I did not accept their claim. I went to another transmission company without mentioning this incident to the second company. The second company changed my fluids with no mention of needing any repairs. The same thing happened with the third company I took my car to just recently for a transmission fluid change. The fluids were changed with no mention of needing repairs. It has now been 3 years and 8 months since this incident. The car and transmission are doing fine.

I am not sure what the lady is talking about in the lat review, cause they took their sweet time on my car. Same thing as everybody else, the coupon got me in the door. They did not know what was wring with my car, so i left it over the weekend. I live down the street and passed the location all the time. I noticed my car had been parked in the same spot the whole weekend. I called Monday and asked the status of it. He told me this, that and everything needed to be replaced. He said he could put me on a payment plain and i was ok with it. Said it would be a day or two and the work will be done. Well over the next few days, my car still sat in the same spot. Not happy having to share a car with my girlfriend, i decided to go up there and see why he has not moved. He was nothing short of being an ass! he told me they had other cars that were being paid in cash and he hasnt gotten around to mine yet. EXCUSE ME!!! I told him i want my car now and he said i owed them $ 350 cause a cable was messed up and needed repaired. Yet i thought i needed a whole new transmission and now it is just a cable??? CROOKS!!! STAY AWAY! I can see why he is rolling around in a Mercedes, cause he robs people for their hard earned money!!!

I was needing another transmission guy to take a look a the issue on my 97 Yukon. I had the tranny rebuilt by a guy and still had an issue of the drive slipping when going into reverse. Took it over to these guys on a recommendation from a friend and after my tranny guy told me he could not find any other issues and it might not be the transmission.
So I make an appointment to drop the truck off and they say a tech will give me a lift to work since it is right down the street and we can do an on road diagnosis. Well as soon as he gets in I drop the truck into reverse to hear my usual horrible noise getting the attention of the manager and techs in the bays. So we drive on to drop me off and they are going to contact me with a diagnosis. Expecting the worse I figure I got a bad rebuilt and am going to be in the hole another 2k.
Waiting for the call was pretty nerve racking and when it finally came David let me know that it was not something in the transmission but in drive line. Apparently there is a clip of some type in the transfer case that will wear out and cause this issue. They needed to order the part and would have me on the road in a day or so! I was very happy to hear and more excited that my bill was no where near of a rebuild!
I would recommend these guys and even dropped off some Torchy’s to say thanks.

We have been going to A Plus Transmission for 2 years now. We have 2 Vans and 4 Trucks. They always make sure we are clear in understanding any problem (s) our vehicles may have. If the problem is simple they don’t make it complicated. They are quick to get the work done and have excellent communication skills in letting me know what is going on. They go above and beyond for their clients. We live in Spicewood and go out of our way to take our vehicles to them… small price to pay for piece of mind.

They RIP you off. Stay away from A Plus Transmission.

Do NOT go here. DANGER! I see there are plenty of other horror stories about A PLUS TRANSMISSIONS on Unilocal,but I felt compelled to add mine:
I am a pretty good mechanic. The transmission in my 5 year old Dodge pickup lost 2^nd gear. I pulled the transmission out myself and carried it in on Thursday. David, a very nice fellow greeted us and said they offer a free tear down service and they’d show me what the problems are. I said OK and came back Friday. He showed me the snapped 2^nd gear and also one of the other gears that THEY broke during the disassembly. He said they would cover the cost of replacing that and he’d have a bid for me Monday. I stopped by on Monday; NO DAVID. The owner informed me that DAVID DOESN’T WORK HERE, he was just covering for me last week. The estimate? $ 3200. I said i don’t think so. He said, well, we can do it for $ 2800. I said, «I’ll think about it and get back to you.» I left and before i got home my cell phone was ringing. Guess who? «I talked to ‘the shop’ and they can do it for $ 2400.» No thanks, just put it back together. I spent 5 minutes on ebay, got a guaranteed replacement shipped from Oklahoma for $ 745. plus $ 90. shipping.
When I went back to get the bad one, the owner went ballistic. «I’m not putting that back together for you. I’m not going to spend another minute on it. i don’t care what DAVID told you, I’m the owner, what I say goes.» He wanted to get paid to stick it back together so I can send it back as a core. I got back a box of broken parts and a lecture from the guy.

I went to A Plus because I thought I may have a transmission problem. They drove it for about 45 mins with a diagnostic computer attached. When they came back, I saw they were preparing to raise up my truck, I asked why they had my truck on lifts and were raising it up? They stated they wanted to take off the pan to look for problems. I asked them if they had gotten a code indicating transmission problems. They stated yes a P0068 code for my Dodge. I asked if this code related to the transmission and was told «Yes». I had a feeling in the back of my neck telling me not to allow them to removed the pan. So I thanked them and left. I immediately called up another transmission place that had very good reviews and gave them the P0068 code. I was told this was not a code relating to a transmission. Turns out it was a code relating to air flow and had nothing to do with the transmission. Now I had to ask myself why A Plus Transmissions would tell me the code was related to my transmission. The only reason I can think of is that they wanted me to think I had a transmission problem and pay mucho bucks to fix the transmission when it didn’t need fixing. I don’t know why a business just can’t be honest rather than victiminzing people to make money they didn’t honestly earn. Especially with todays economy. I feel an honest business can make more money in the long run rather than deceiving people. What a shame. I recommend going to Ike’s Transmissions on Anderson Lane for your transmission problems. That at leat appear to be an honest company.

Stay away from this place! These people are crooks. Total, complete crooks.
I took my car in to get the transmission fluid changed, with the coupon that some of the other reviewers had mentioned. I had not had any trouble with my transmission, other than that it had slipped a couple times when really cold, because, what do ya know, I needed my transmission fluid changed.
I took it in and they kept it for a day. I got a call at 5 minutes before they closed saying they didn’t have the chance to get to it today and could they keep it overnight. What choice did I have? They were about to close, it was rush hour, and I didn’t have a car. Sure, fine, keep it. But I told them I absolutely had to have it back in the morning because I had to get to work. They said that’d be fine.
The next day they called at 10am and told me that there was an issue with my transmission, but they couldn’t tell me what it was without a test that would take an entire day and THREE GRAND in labor costs. Um, no thanks, just change the fluid and give me my car back.
They refused to change the fluid, so I just asked them to give me my car back as soon as possible. «Well, we took the filter off and have your fluid in a bucket so we need to replace that, it’ll take about an hour»
Again, what choice did I have? Please hurry, as I said the day before, I needed to have my car for work. One hour went by, two went by, almost three and I called them again. «Oh we still need to put the filter back on and the fluid in. We will call you when it’s done»
Another hour, two hours, it was almost closing time when I finally took a cab up there and stood there til someone helped me. At that point I was told that my car was finished, had been for a while, but that the manager was gone and I couldn’t take my car without his approval.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME???
I had to wait another 45 minutes there for the manager to show up so I could get my keys back. When he finally showed up I was lectured as to how they really shouldn’t even let me drive the car off the lot because it was so dangerous. TOTAL CRAP.
I took the car, went straight to my regular mechanic right before closing time (who, the only reason I didn’t take the car to in the first place was because I didn’t think he’d do such a small job like a fluid change…), and told him what had happened. He rolled his eyes, said that was absolutely ridiculous and that he’d get it done in 20 minutes.
20 minutes, fluid changed, and there was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with my transmission, other than the fact that it needed it’s fluid changed. (By the way, if you have a Toyota, go to Mark at An Honest Mechanic, he’s the best)
Moral of the story– STAY AWAY from these guys. They’re thieves. The coupon is a bait-​and-​switch technique to try to convince you that your transmission needs a $ 3,000 overhaul (see other reviews for what happens when you agree to it), and when you don’t agree, they hold your car hostage.
Thank God for Unilocal,these guys need to be shut down. Don’t give them your business.

Buyer beware. After a transmission overhaul and complete rebuild ($ 3,000) they did not put my speed sensor back on right. It ended up rubbing on my axle and breaking off. They would not pay for the part or repair.
