All our techs and installers are certified. We are a factory authorized dealer of Goodman, Amana, Trane, Carrier, Lennox, RUUD & Rheem products. We service residential and commercial systems. We have been providing comfort since 1982.

We specialize in unit replacements and we’ll beat any written quote by a licensed and reputable company open more than 2 years.

We also do weatherization which includes attic and wall insulation, solar screens, windows and doors, caulking door sweeps and seals and other air infiltration

. We replace old leaking ducts and seal ducts when appropriate. The average Austin home built before 2002 leaks on average 27% of conditioned air into the attic.

Established in 1982.

A-​1 Air Conditioning was established in 1982 and is family owned and operated with over 30 years experience in air conditioning installation and repair. We are a full service residential and commercial installation, service and replacement contractor.

We have our own in house commercial sheet metal shop. Not only do we do our own commercial installations and retrofits, we also supply duct work to many local a/​c contractors. Including jobs for Samsung. University of Texas Heraeus Quartz and many others.

We also offer a full line of weatherization products that include attic and wall insulation, solar screens, windows and doors, caulking, door sweeeps and other air infiltration products.

Business Owner

Glenn Kritch, President and CEO has been in the A/​C and Heating trade since 1977. He has worked in all phases of the industry. Starting in new and existing single family homes. Then moving up to commercial work. He was in charge of an 80 man crew during the the construction of the Boca Raton IBM personal computer Buildings as far back as 1982. In the Austin area we have done numerous jobs at The Domain, W Hotel and many others. We are a full service mechanical company. He holds licenses in 5 states, No job too big or too small.

Came home early from work today, and the house was 45 degrees chilly. My builder’s grade air handler is 14 years-​old, so I braced myself for the bad news that was surely going to be delivered after a technician gave it a look-​see. The A-​1 tech (Chris) arrived within an hour of my service request and almost immediately diagnosed it as a bad relay, which with my system, was not a common type of relay. Nonetheless, the tech happened to have one in his van, and sweet heat started rolling out of the vents soon thereafter. The cost was the service call + part = happy dance. I will call A-​1 whenever the heat or AC goes on the blink again, which will hopefully be in 10 years, smile.

One of my A/​C units went out during a period of 100+ heat. I called these guys because they had good reviews on Unilocal and were near where I live. They did come out right away. They took a brief look at the unit and showed me the electrical board and said it was blown. The guy then went on to tell me a new Carrier board would cost me thousands of dollars and then spent a lot of time and effort selling me a new A/​C system.
Something about his demeanor struck me as odd so I got someone else to check it out. Before the new guy came I told him it was a blown board so he could pick one up on his way here, which he did. The new board (actually $ 800) went back because that was not what was wrong. I showed him the electrical board that A-​1 said was blown. He just laughed and said, «I don’t think so.» One look told him that wasn’t the problem. This new guy actually traced all of the circuits on the wiring diagram and found that the problem was quite simple — deteriorating insulation on some wiring caused a short. A quick and simple fix that needed no new parts.
The net result with A-​1: they were not interested in fixing my old A/​C unit, I’m not sure that he could have figured it out even if he wanted to. They wanted to sell me a new system for $ 6,300. Hold on to your wallet.

I had problems with my AC last year, and their technician, Jon, was nothing but helpful and professional and we’ve had great experiences with them. However, yesterday, I had my first hiccup with this company. The technician was over an hour late for the appointment (which I had made two days prior), despite the fact that the lady that had made the appointment had been told (and told the technician) that I was on a tight schedule as I had to work that day. I understand that sometimes things happen, like the previous case was more complicated than anticipated or maybe there was traffic, but at least give me the courtesy of calling to let me know the status and acknowledge that I’m waiting. I had to call the office 45 minutes after the scheduled time to ask for an ETA. And then when the technician showed up, there was not even an acknowledgement much less an apology for the fact that I was waiting for an hour and ten minutes before he showed up.
However, between the facts that this is the first hiccup I’ve had with the company in the few years I’ve been using them and the fact that Karen (the lady that answered the phone in the office) and Chris (the technician) were both otherwise friendly and professional, I can’t hate on this company too bad. I just hope this doesn’t become a pattern.

We have had 2 new complete systems (upstairs and downstairs) installed by A-​1 Air Conditioning. Each time, the owner Glenn Kritch did an excellent job explaining his recommendations. The crews were efficient and thorough. We have been very happy with both systems and have seen the energy savings promised. We also had A-​1 install Solar Screens which have been wonderful for cutting out the sun and heat in summer. I never hesitate to call their office manager Karen with any questions and she has always been flexible to scheduled service calls around my availability. I highly recommend A-​1 Air Conditioning to everyone in need of AC Service, new HVAC systems or weatherization.

These guys have been great to do business with over the past 3 years I’ve used them. Very competative pricing and I would recommend them to anyone. They are professional and the owner glenn knows his industry and has always strived for me to be comfortable in my house. Our ac went out yesterday and I called them last night. He had a tech come over this morning and fixed the issue quickly and didnt try to sell me anything I didn’t need. The ac is now back on and the house is cooling down. Its 103 outside right now and labor day weekend, so I was worried, but once again these guys came to my rescue.
