They ran out of free slurpee cups, so instead of giving a discount on the larger sizes or just flat out giving away the slurpees for free they completely disregarded customer service and fully charged for the larger sizes. Oh and they only had the extra large cups for customers to use. Talk about a rip off.

I’ll start with the good things about this 7 – 11 and it is that they are conveniently located on The Drag. That’s about it, everything else is the same as other 7 – 11’s and gas stations. They are pretty clean in the store, but the restroom is pretty dingy. Toilet paper strewn all over the floor when I came and it was definitely smelly. The reason why I WANT to give them one star is for their extremely RUDE service and lack of care for their customers. My sister and I decided to fill up on gas before our departure back home but to our dismay, the gas nozzle kept clicking every time I tried to pump so my sister went in and tried to get help. A worker did come out and assessed what was going on and just told us to keep trying. So I did and the dang nozzle still wasn’t working so my sister went BACK in to get someone to help us again. This time, the same guy refused to come out and when my sister asked another worker for help, the guy had the nerve to tell his co-worker to NOT help us and in short, to stop bothering him. At this point, I was flustered and hot from standing for a while trying to pump gas when it was THEIR nozzle that had problems. Now, I decided to give them an extra star because eventually a worker did come out and nicely helped us with our gas problem and even cleaned up the gas that leaked out the nozzle and our car. I appreciate, in the end, the help we received, but I don’t like the way we were treated with the other worker. Makes me think twice about returning to this 7 – 11.

Man, it’s all about the 99 cent Arizona large cans of Watermelon Drink here. Sure, it’s half high-fructose corn syrup, but the natural and added flavors they mix in really almost taste like watermelon. That, and the ability to drive in to the lot and then head in a westerly direction upon exiting, compared to the left-turn-stingy stretch of Guad that it sits on, makes this 7-Eleven invaluable!

This is not the best convenience store in Austin. It’s not even the best in central Austin.(The best convenience store anywhere is called WAWA and you need to live on the east coast to experience what a goof C-Store is like.) It’s not the best stocked or even the cleanest. The gas is even more expensive than other places in the neighborhood. I like this 7-Eleven at 2AM after the bars have closed. The mixture of west campus drunken sorority girls, hipster rocker boys from the next door Hole In The Wall, shoplifting drag rats, third shifters and me, makes for some good people watching. I stay just a bit longer than I normally would just for the sociological observations that can be made here.

Great slushies. Not as good as Sonic’s, but Sonic is a longer drive and 7-Eleven is right here. This one is cleaner and brighter than the one in the heart of West Campus. It is on the Drag, however, and that means vagrants chillin’ in the parking lot.

How do you rate and review a chain convenience store? Better yet, why would you? Because there are some things at 7-Eleven that people just don’t realize or maybe even know about and it is my humanitarian duty to share that information. This 7-Eleven is located on the Drag convenient to the University, the dorms and all the craziness that is «The Drag». This location is a little heavier on bums, vagrants, smelly street kids and other human debris than most other locations around town, so that should be noted. DONOT give panhandlers money, you only perpetuate the cycle and create a dependency issue. Anyway, 7-Eleven in recent years has tried to up it’s image and spruce themselves up a little, and it’s working. They have a great selection of fresh sandwiches, wraps, pitas, salads and much more made fresh every day. They also have fresh fruit, fruit bowls and things like yogurt for the health conscious. No more horse meat burgers covered in a nondescript«cheese» sauce. You can actually run into a 7-Eleven and get a healthy snack or a full meal that won’t kill you now, not at all like the old days. Also I should note that they also carry SmartWater and that is a big deal since I hate it when I can’t find it and now that I am hooked on it all other water tastes like leftover aquarium water now. Overall it’s a 7-Eleven, its in a great location, and they actually have decent quick food and the ubiquitous Slurpee. Check it out, and I personally recommend the wraps, they are AWESOME!
