I think this has changed completely. It now is southern Catfish &BBQ, but the Swirk name is still on the canopy.

Decent amount of seating(place was empty). Cook(owner?) was friendly. The gyro took at least 10 minutes, maybe even 15, which is much too long. It was okay, kind of sub-par compared to others, and the bread seemed kind of stale. The juices had too much peppermint and were largely undrinkable. Prices for the plates seem a bit expensive. The desserts were pretty good though.

First time here, came because of the good reviews. Definitely nothing fancy, it is your typical mom n pop hole in the wall. I was a little concerned that it was 12:30 pm and i was the only one there. Menu was a little odd… Pizza, burger, wings, falafel, hummus, and kabobs all on the same menu. The man was very nice. I ordered the masahap chicken plate and the beef kabob plate. The masahap chicken was actually quite flavorful and good. The kabobs were also flavorful but a not as tender as i would have liked. The mediteranean salad was crisp and good, although no dressing(i just added my own) as i did take out. Its a little pricy but filling. Overall i would come back, the food was good!

Everything about this place — with the exception of the owner and the rice — is awful. I don’t know if the people who wrote positive reviews are friends of the owner — who genuinely is a nice guy — or this place has grown much worse, but something certainly isn’t right. First off, be prepared to wait a long time to get food. We waited about 45 minutes. This wouldn’t be a problem if the food was actually worth it; it wasn’t. Second, the food is ridiculously bad. The falafel was greasy, the salad was not fresh or prepared with any kind of dressing, the hummus was watery, the baba ganoush was odd and thoroughly disgusting, the pita slices were overly hard in spots and overly mushy in others, the goat was oily, and the gyros were cold and particularly flavorful. The rice was decent. The food was so remarkably bad that we left most of it. Third, it’s expensive. For what you’re getting — which is a meal that is best forgotten — it shouldn’t be $ 12 and $ 13 for dishes.

First time i came here had mashap chicken and it was delicious. Service was great also I dined I’m and chatted with guy. Seems like he was the one who took my order and cooked my food. Today got a catfish sandwich and side if rice to go. The aroma of the food was great and matched the taste when I came home. Every time I pass by or come there is no people here. This place is a hidden gem that needs to get more recognition.

Date(s) visited: about 1 time. Food/Drink: 5⁄5 Service: 5⁄5 Atmosphere: 5⁄5 Price: 5⁄5 Parking: 5⁄5 «ANAWESOMEFAMILYOWNEDBUSINESSWITHGREATAFRIKAN, MIDDLEEASTERN, and AMERICANFOOD!» Food/Drink: I ordered a Combination Plate which consisted of Hummus, Pita Bread, Falafels(eight of them), Baba Ganoush(eggplant sauce), and a Salad topped with Yogurt Sauce. The platter was served with a green hot sauce that is absolutely DEEELISH! I really enjoyed the plate and the fact that all of it was authentic Afrikan cuisine. My other half ordered a Catfish Sandwich that he also thought was pretty good. Service: The owners of this restaurant were very friendly and made our experience one that made me feel as though I was truly being served. The wife who is a co-owner was very warm, charming, and a great conversationalist when it came to speaking about her home country in Sudan. Her husband who did the cooking was nice enough to also give my other half and I a sample of dessert at the end of our meal(which he made sure to warm up for us before he served it). Atmosphere: This place is clean, cozy, and has an «at home» feel to it. Price Great price for all of the food that came with my Combination Plate order. Parking: Free parking in front of the building. MYTHOUGHTS? This place is A-W-E-S-O-M-E. I will definitely be coming back for sure not only because the food is so good, but because I truly enjoyed the service received by the people that owned the restaurant. RECOMMENDATIONS: Their homemade Green Hot Sauce is something to die for!

My gosh this place is good! The chicken masahap is all I’ve tried, but you better believe I’ll be going back soon! Also, the family that runs it is incredibly welcoming and friendly. You will not regret it if you try it!

I discovered this place last summer and was blown away by how good the lamb tasted. It’s soft and has a lot of flavors. I’ve gotten to know the owners and they are fun and friendly every time I come in. I love African/Mediterranean food and highly recommend the food here.

I had dinner at Swirk earlier this week because it is close and the reviews were good. First of all, the reviews are right. I had the chicken kabobs and they were delicious. Tender and tasty and plentiful. They included onion and peppers although these two items were minimal and could be increased some. The rice was delicious and the salad was a nice edition. We were the only people in the resuraunt however there was a fair amount of take out business. The service was slow but I believe this is because everything is cooked fresh. The setting is minimal but quite sufficient. I would definately go back. My second point is that this place is listed as American(New). I do not agree. Although I did see a hamburger on the menu, I would not clasify this as an American resturaunt.

This was very good. I had the Chicken Masahap, which was delicious and tasted kind of like Indian food. The flavored yellow rice is similar to east African rice, and also delicious. The beef sambousa I got on the side was very tasty and seemed fresher and to have more veggies mixed in compared with those from other places in the area. Differing from some of the east African places around here, the service is good for the average American. I didn’t have to ask for a table, menus, drinks, etc. It did take a while to get our food, but it seemed the kitchen was just getting started when we arrived, and I got a free desert out of it. I’ll definitely be back.

In the stripmall behind the Walgreens at Peoria and Iliff, Swirk Supreme Food will stun you with its scintillating Sudanese offerings. Enjoy a thirst-quenching lemonade(subtly flavored with mint), or a nice cool glass of Karkadeh(made with roselle [hibiscus] flowers, this is indeed reminiscent of the Mexican beverage called Jamaica) while you peruse the menu board directly in front of you. Don’t those Sambosa sound tasty? And indeed, these enormous triangular pastries(lovingly filled with either ground meat, peas and corn, or potatoes, carrots and peas, then deep-fried and garnished with vividly colorful bell pepper strips) will send you into«oohs» and«aahs» from the first bite. Swirk also offers more pan-Middle Eastern staples like silky-smooth Hummus, smoky Baba Ganoush, and herby Tabouleh if any of those tickle your fancy. But keep in mind — you have some more courses ahead of you! Up next, why not try the temptingly tangy marinated chicken dish called Masahap, sided with a moist mound of yellow rice and a fresh, crisp salad(bursting with cucumbers, tomatoes, onions and lettuce). Other succulent options include roasted meats like rich goat or tender lamb, and for the fish fiends among you, there’s also a great big trout fillet. Each plate comes with little cups of Shatta(zingy green pepper sauce) and ranch dressing. You can also have a packed-to-the-brim Falafel sandwich if you’re in a more meatless mood. Something sweet? Why thanks! Oh, you were asking about desserts. Well, check out the syrup-drenched semolina cake Basbusa, or even the creamy rice pudding called Mhallabia. For those of you who absolutely *must* finish with Baklava, yes, they have that here too. They do sometimes offer other pastries and baked goods as well — let the two lovely, lively sisters who work up front give you some suggestions! If John Coltrane had been able to visit this place, he might very well have named his groundbreaking album«A Swirk Supreme». So give it a spin, and see what you think!

This place just opened up and I’ve been curious to try it. They have an interesting variety of food here of African, Middle Eastern and American. There’s falafel sandwiches, hummus, lamb stir fry, goat stir fry, a fried catfish platter, trout, even burgers and pizza. I had the gyros, yum! The fried catfish platter that my husband chose was outstanding! The breading was perfectly crisp and well seasoned. The fish inside was moist and tender. The rice that came with the catfish had amazing flavor!.For something new try the roselle drink or the tamarind drink– they are pretty tasty. The counter gal was super friendly and very helpful! Try it you will be back!
