Been seeing RJ since 2005. Had thyroid cancer. Hes been taking care of my treatments and pet scans etc. he did an excellent job for me. i also received the 5 week notice he was retiring. to get my records, i needed to fill out a form. I would then be notified what to pay to obtain them. I did this and heard nothing. I have now sent 2 requests, to a POBox I might add, trying to get these papers. I have heard nothing and will be seeing a new endro. Tomorrow. She will have no place to start on me except from the ground floor. I desperately need these records to identify my cancer, let her have a point of reference on my pet scans and to see how i function best with what numbers without a thyroid. I’m truly desperate, but only have a PObox. No name or phone number to help. Now what?

I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 1995. I have been seeing Dr. Rees-​Jones since this diagnosis, almost 20 years ago. His retirement came as a shock to me. It seems so abrupt with no warning. I see him twice a year, Dec and June. Obviously won’t be seeing him in Dec for my appt. It has definitely put me in a funk since receiving his letter. Feel like my safety net has been cut. I wrote to him, to express my gratitude regarding care I received, but received a response back from one of his NP’s, which is out of character for him. Something feels odd about his sudden retirement, and his staff scattering with no one taking over his practice. I will miss his care and am hopeful I can find a Dr. with his qualities to replace him.

After seeing Dr Rees-​Jones for several years for my Type 1 diabetes, I received his «I’m retiring» form letter with just five weeks notice. What shocked me the most was in order to receive MY medical records, I would have to pay standard copying fees first. Once they receive the payment, they’ll send the records. Really? As far as I’m concerned, I’ll start over with a new doctor and create new records — and unlike Rees-​Jones, my new doctor will be downloading my glucose values into their system and use technology in my treatment. I think the fact that Rees-​Jones is retiring is a blessing.

Only saw this doc for a year and a half. I have had Type I Diabetes for 26 years and have thyroid/​parathyroid issues as well. I had heard very good things about this doc and he is listed in 5280 magazine. I had to request to ONLY see the doctor or they have you see a PA. Dr Rees Jones is very nice and says lots of reassuring things, but I don’t think he is very proactive with treatment or care. My A1C never improved while working with him, my thyroid levels were always off, and I remained at my heaviest weight. Part of the problem is that he does not use technology for insulin pump or meter downloading. All blood sugar records have to be paper. He also does not encourage use of the CGM which has helped my sugars tremendously. He might be better for someone who is less serious about good health and about technology, but I was not impressed. The office staff is also consistently rude.

When I made the appt, I asked if they could help with balancing hormone levels. While Tammy at the office seemed knowledgeable, it was suggested I see a hormone specialist. So their answer when I made the appointment should have been no, they can’t help balance hormone levels.
