I had brakes put on my car a couple of weeks ago I was very pleased with the work they did as well as the professionalism of Michael and Liam I would definitely go back there again and recommend Pep Boys to my friends

I am surprised at how great the service was. And I am writing this seconds after my car was taken care of. I had to have my turning relay sensor changed. I am told they are backlogged and to come back the next day. But then the technician Liam says it is a 5 minute job, walks out in the freezing cold, and gets the job done !!! And the best part? I wasn’t charged at all !!! Awesome service. Thanks Liam !!!

NEVER again! Went there as I am a commuter from Indiana and my tires were 10lbs low. Told them that then decided to get a synthetic oil change while I was there. I as told it was a special with $ 30 off. Anyway got the oil change and $ 10 off and was told I have to go to the website to file for the other $ 20. Went back to work and checked my tire pressure on the dash board and it was 11lb LOW! I called and they said. oh maybe your computer is wrong, bring it back. Brought it back the next day and different guys were there and they aired up my tires (saying we werent here so its not our fault). It was NEVER done in the first place. The packet they gave me where they are supposed to check off services like check fluids ect wasnt even checked on anything! and to top it off I cannot find a $ 20 refund. STAY AWAY. Im even doubting if they changed my oil!!!

This morning I called Pep Boys and talked to Rich on the phone, who seemed nice enough and let me choose what time to bring my car in to have my rear brakes looked at.
When I entered the store at the scheduled time Rich was walking out with another customer and luckily I had another Pep Boy employee helping me, Liam. I say luckily because when Liam went into the system he instantly saw they did not have my brakes in stock, since it was later in the day, he told me there would be an extra charge to get them from the Napa parts store instead of their Naperville Pep Boys store.
Rich was sitting on the stool and I said I could bring the car back to help them out so they would have the needed parts. Rich said «It doesn’t help me out but it helps you out with the price.» I called about 8:15 am, my appointment was at 3:30pm. I believe that is enough time to let me know you do not have the brakes that fit my car.
Once again Liam helped out by saying he could get the parts from Naperville in time to be fixed. He also was able to change out the burnt out license plate lights with rusted out screws and fix the tire pressure in one one of my tires.
Pep Boys is lucky to have Liam working for them! If it wasn’t for him I would have taking my business else where and wouldn’t have such nice things to say.

I had work done on my front brakes last year at another location. The parts were all under warranty, so when I noticed my car was lurching whenever I hit the brakes, I decided to have them looked at. I called to make an appointment, which was painless and fast, and I got an appointment exactly when I needed it.
Rich called me after about an hour and explained that one of my brake hoses had collapsed in on itself, so the driver side was wearing a lot faster and hotter than the passenger side. He offered to repair the warranty parts for free, and recommended the hose be replaced for what amounted to about $ 150. I approved the warranty work, but chose to wait on the hose since be said it wasn’t an immediate danger, but would need to be addressed soon. He didn’t pressure me.
I did a little fast research and determined that it was actually probably a good idea to just go ahead and fix the hose, so when I called back, Rich said they could have the part delivered and the labor complete in a couple hours. They did a great job, and the car was finished when promised. I loved that I wasn’t pressured into any decisions and that Rich was kind and patient when explaining something I didn’t quite understand. I definitely recommend this location, and will return again!

Pep boys told me I needed new tires and they could hook me up with a «good deal». They brought it up a second time when I was in for a headlight out. So I took my car to Costco’s auto section for a second opinion and later to Firestone for a third opinion. Both places said I was totally in the clear and that they all use the same measurement system for wear on tires.
Two stars because they were nice… But they were lying to me to make a sale. Disappointing.

Pep Boys website is very comprehensive but be sure to print out any coupons and choose «pay at store» if you want to get credit for discounts/​coupons for service! If you pay online for these discounts it can’t be rung up at the shop properly. Bring printed paperwork & give to manager prior to commencing service appt. The manager, Sam Chripczuk was careful to explain the process when I called prior to my arrival. I had a Bosch car battery installed at a very reasonable price along with the battery protection service. Excellent service with a smile, great product, quick turn-​around.

After my experience I was beyond taken care of by the area and store managers. They more than made up for the inconvenience and misunderstanding. I can appreciate when a company admits it’s mistakes and more than makes up for them. This restores my faith in the store and company.

I had a great experience at Pep Boys. Started off with a professional greeting. All too often you find mechanics that grunt at you when you walk in the door.
I had an emergency flat tire when towing a trailer, I was running late and I was wondering how exactly do I get a tire repair done on my car while towing a trailer that would be extremely difficult to unload. These guys got the job done in 15 minutes, an AWESOME price and had me on my way.
Pep Boys is opening in New Lenox August 27^th 2014. This is my new place.

Went in looking for a cabin air filter & license plate lights. Two people were already inside, one woman who seemed very confused about the price of her tires & another guy looking for a business discount.
The woman couldn’t understand why some discount didn’t apply to her tires & the salesman kept repeating some Pep Boys jargon at her (Basically — «Because, Ma’am, you’re currently getting the Mumbo-​Jumbo discount and while it makes sense to you, you’re wrong and you’ll be charged this amount»).
They have this thing where they’ll excuse themselves from their current customer and ask the person waiting in line behind them, «What can I help you with, sir?» but they really don’t care because they can’t help you until they’re done with the first person in the first place. Waste of time.
Ultimately, she didn’t understand but paid anyway. Finally my turn. Even though I already told them what I wanted, I have to explain myself for a second time. Lights & an air filter.
They have my lights, but need to order my filter. $ 30+ (I want to say he quoted $ 37) for the filter. Fine, I tell him. Now, they have two registers, but only one can ring you up. So, now I need to wait for two Pep Boys employees to find the business guy on their one operating system. 10 min later, guy’s found, done, & I’m finally rung up. In all, I’ve probably been in there 20 min.
Walmart is across the street & I need some other things. Not a fan of Walmart, but I was near the automotive section & looked up air filters. They have mine, in stock, for $ 18. $ 18 vs. $ 37! Get home, bust out the rubber hospital gloves to install my lightbulbs & they don’t even come close to looking like mine.
Returned to the store today to get my $ back. Store manager Steve, for a $ 5 return, needs my name, my address, and my telephone #. I tell him I’d rather not give that personal info, but, of course, they MUST have it.
Fake name, fake #, fake address, finally get the return processed when, really, all they need is the original credit card the purchase was made with in the first place. Once again, they don’t NEED to know all that, they WANT to know all that so they can sell the info to telemarketers.
Summary — fakers trying to scam you, take your $, and waste your time. Don’t be fooled.

I have had a number of issues dealing with the pep boys in Chicago, so I was very hesitant going in and getting my car looked at here. I recently had some poor evaluations done on my car and needed to get a second opinion.
Pep boys in Auroa not only took the time and effort to find the problem, they went out of their way to give me a ride to work, found discounts that applied and were just outright nice to deal with. I’m glad they opened this location and will definitely come back (hopefully not too soon).
Finding a trustworthy, caring mechanic /​company is hard to come by, but when you find one, you will go no where else.
