It’s hard to review without comparing it to In n Out — mainly because I’ve been told by so many west coasters that this was the closest thing you could get to one in Colorado. Unfortunately, and maybe for this reason, I was slightly disappointed. As many posters have said — the service is a bit slow and the prices are a bit high. Now, I know, I know — it’s not supposed to be FAST food and I personally have spent 20 minutes in line waiting for my double double in California … but I was waiting for a DOUBLEDOUBLE. If you don’t know what that is — then you probably liked this place a bit better than I did. I also had 7 cars in front of me and thus it took a while to get to the window at an In n Out. Here it was not the case. I have gone twice to this place and both times I was the only person in the drive through and the parking lot appeared to be empty but the time it took to make 2 hamburger combos was still sort of ridiculous. It was about 15 minutes average each visit. If they want to have a drive through then they need to be able to give drive thru service and that is that or make the food a mind blowing experience that you didn’t mind waiting. It’s just not quite good enough for all that time. After the wait though, I will say that the burgers are tasty in their own right — and for that very reason I would give 3.5 stars if I could. The burgers come in enormous portions and the smallest size with a side of fries is enough to leave you full. Service is pretty decent and both times I was there the servers apologized for the wait and were very friendly. I’ve never had an issue of not getting my order right, no napkins, no straws, or anything like that. They know their job and do it better than most fast food places. I would probably come back to this place if I hadn’t moved on the other side of town… but it’s not a place that I would go out of my way to eat at.

Great place! I really don’t understand how shallow and uninformed the reviewers on here are. First, to address some people’s complaints on the slow food service. Newsflash: this is not a typical fast food chain like mcdonalds. This establishment is in the category of «fast casual» with the likes of wahoos fish tacos or five guys. Newsflash #2 reviewers complain about the high prices. WTF??? I’ve been coming here for almost two years and I’ve seen price drops and small increases during the fuel crisis. And considering the price includes fries and a drink with unlimited refills and includes tax, it’s we’ll worth it. Not to mention that ANY drink has unlimited refills. That includes snapples, bottled waters, sobe, etc. This price also includes extra toppings on your burger, such as avocado, bacon, mushrooms, and if you wish, extra toppings on your fries or onion rings. Now how can any one of you reviewers whine about that? I was even witness to at least 2 groups of customers coming in to look at the menu board only to walk right out!!! I can only assume it’s because of the price since the only things on the menu are burgers and fries. Unless these idiots saw the sign outside that said«old school burgers and fries» and thought there would be tacos and Chinese food inside. WTF??? I honestly don’t understand why this place isn’t as busy as five guys or smashburger which btw both suck. Actually they don’t suck, but old school is way better. Less greasy, the bun isn’t soaked in grease, and like I said, u get a lot of bang for ur buck here. The burger is presented nicely in a wrap. vs Five guys way of smashing it plus the grease into a foil. I think the reason more for Five guy’s success is the liveliness of the atmosphere. Old school seems way depressing, possibly because the owners feel the business has been going down hill. But the important thing is that the food and cleanliness of the place seems to hide the depression quite well. I have to give this place 5 stars to offset the idiotic and unfair 1 and 2 star reviews the place got.

This place is pretty good. To me, it’s nothing too special, but it tastes pretty good and fills you up. I like that you can get the meal and choose what you want with it. You can choose from fries or onion rings, add toppings to the fries and burgers at no additional costs, and choose whatever drink you want, including milk shakes. I will admit though, that the thing that has brought be in here lately is the coupon and not the food. Safeway across the street has coupons on their receipts for buy one meal, get one free. That’s a good deal, however come October 15 when those expire, I probably won’t frequent this place very often. I feel like I can get better burgers other places for the same price or less. But it’s definitely filling and they have some good choices!

Greazy goodness. My lil bro is a growing teenager and he is addicted to these burgers. They come in various sizes of ridiculousness, but even the smallest will fill you up. They were tasty, and we split a basket of fries. The place is worth 4 stars because it is not your typical fast food, but doesn’t get a fifth because the prices are a little high and when they brought me my root beer float it was overflowing and not in a good way. I guess if you go all nutzo on the toppings, which are included in the price regardless you can get a bigger bang for your $. We each took home a box of leftovers and I bet this place would rock as a hangover cure. If you are a teen or a glutton for grease, check it out. If you are a vegetarian or trying to eat healthy, steer clear!

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting to like this place. I’ve seen it on Havana forever, and always passed it up because I thought it was just another generic hamburger chain. After my underwhelming experience at Smashburger a few years ago, I kinda got soured on trying new chains. I was pleasantly surprised. The first thing you will notice about this place is that EVERYTHING is included in the price… tax, toppings, ect… so ordering is made a lot easier. And it is like that for all their products. I wish other chains would copy them. The prices look a little high, but when you consider that everything is included and rounded off, the prices are actually in line with what you would pay for premium burgers at McDonalds or burger King. $ 9 gets you a good quarter pound burger with everything, fries and a drink. And while these are not the best burgers I have ever had, they are definitely much better than most fast food burgers I have had. Certainly better than all of the major chains(McDonalds, Wendys, Burger King, ect…). Four kinds of cheese and a choice of free premium toppings(avocado, bacon, four kinds of cheese, ect.) in addition to normal toppings. The bacon is the best burger-type bacon I have ever had at a fast food place. They are all fresh all the time(«no heat lamps»), and hand made instead of stamped out. Frankly, the pictures dont do the food justice. I think thats part of the reason I took so long to finally try this place. The fries were also good(thin and cooked thoroughly) and the portions are generous. I had a pretty good experience at this place. If you want the best burgers in town I would go to the Cherry Cricket by Cherry Creek mall. But if you have one of these near you, you should give them a try.

I’m from Los Angeles and I know good food especially good burgers. This is DARN good burgers and their fries are fresh cut. Everything is made-to-order. If you don’t like these burgers, you are high-strung and simply can’t be satisfied. Want a good burger??? GOHERE!

I’ve ready that many people say that they are not«In-n-Out» burgers. That may be true, it has been forever and a day since I’ve been to one. That said, for a good, old fashioned, gooey, cheesy, messy, artery clogging burger with good fries, I say OSB can’t be beat. Look, it isn’t a mega chain place(which I love about them), the burgers are NOT precooked and sitting under a heat lamp for hours on end, and the fries and just fine. This isn’t a «fine dining» establishment, and it isn’t intended to be. And that makes it just fine for me… I wouldn’t want it any other way.

Good, dare I say great fast food burger. I like the cardboard to go box that my burger and onion rings came in. In my mind I imagined if they could send them in the mail. That would be awesome! Anyways the burger was great. Good size and the taste was on point. Not the best but really good. The onion rings were thick and crunchy and the chocolate milkshake was good too. I can’t speak on the In-N-Out comparisons; never had it. This place is good, I like it.

This is not In-N-oOut but it is Denvers. The deal is you get a burger with all kinds of fixings including avacado and different sides. I thought the plain fries were good but the onion rings looked amazing. Then you can have fountian drinks, botttled drinks or shakes. These are refillable. All of them. You can have a soda and then refill it with a shake. Not cheap but not too bad if you get all the fixings. Ok so lets not talk calories but I am satisfied and will not need a burger fix for a while.

They try and they try, but they’re no In-N-Out. The meat is nice and salty — perhaps too salty, the cheese is mediocre and does nothing to compliment the saltiness of the patty, the sauce is weak and not very flavorful. The veg — I have to say, the veg is pretty decent, nice and crisp, fresh tasting. The buns were dry and crumbly. The service was quite friendly and the place was clean — They just tried to replicate the In-N-Out recipe, but failed miserably.

The burger itself was cooked as ordered, dressed as ordered and not bad at all for a 100% Angus beef burger. A bit small, but that’s OK. I did not have the«where’s the beef» experience other reviews mentioned — it was all there. Kudos also for being fresh made, not pre-made, that’s a good thing. Now on to the reasons this place only gets two stars. Comparison to In-n-Out Burger? Please. Both places make burgers, after that all comparisons end. For the record, I’ve been to In-n-Out several times and I don’t think it’s «all that» either, but at least they have the basics down and the price is right. Typically I don’t complain about food for money value but in this case I feel it’s appropriate to do so. I’m not a big fan of feeling like I have two choices; be a glutton and get everything that comes«free» on the burger like bacon, avocado or grilled onions OR feel like I’m subsidizing someone else who WILL do that. Note to the owners — just standardize the menu, people will understand paying extra for extra items if they want them and the people who don’t can have things standard at a more fair price. $ 9 for a burger, fries and a drink is a bit steep, for this size burger. There were also some strange looking specials, like a free kids meal with purchase of an adult sized meal but only before 5pm. I felt like I was dealing with a cell phone carrier, not a burger joint. Also, I understand remodeling or a new building or whatever, but having a real menu that’s easy to understand is an important part of any fast food type of restaurant. The menu now is printed on pieces of paper in plastic sheet protectors and taped up to the area above the registers — tacky and not useful and/or easy to understand. Again, I’m sure the real menus are on their way, right? The Fries. Oh where to begin. This was a travesty against nature and all that is decent and holy. I’m not sure how to fix it, but shoestring fries that are basically soaked in grease and lacking any rigidity means(I think) that the frying oil is not hot enough. Please fix this; I just threw away an entire order of fries because they were WAY to greasy and limp, and uncooked on the inside. To recap — get the burger only, skip the fries, and be sure to go inside, because the crazy explanation about the way the menu works was hard enough to understand while I was face to face with the counter staff, I can’t imagine making this work at the drive through. BTW: Others mentioned the floors — this is a style of concrete, it looks like it has stains but it’s supposed to, the place was not dirty when I visited.

I really hate to do it, and if you’ve read my previous reviews you’d probably be shocked to see my opinion of this place drop so drastically off a cliff, but I have to share what I feel is poor business practice. After our experience here Thursday night, my husband has made the decision we will no longer be back. The place seemed to be really busy(compared to normal traffic) that night, and there were only four people running the place. Ordering took forever, because apparently the woman in front of us decided to order the entire restaurant. Well, that wasn’t really the fault of OSB, so I shrugged it off. We finally got our order in, and oh by the way… I realized they switched from paper cups to washable plastic ones. Normally I’d be happy about that, the whole save the environment bit, but as other’s have mentioned this place occasionally has some cleanliness problems in the eat in area and I really don’t like the idea of them washing and re-using cups(I’ll stick to my paper ones thank you). We sit down. We are there for 40MINUTES, waiting for our food. Yes, I’m not exaggerating, I actually checked the time on my cell phone from when I arrived and ordered. Meanwhile, the girl who had been taking orders at the register walks over to the doors and locks them(this is around 7:00PM and they are supposed to be open until 9:00PM); without saying a word to anyone about it. People start to arrive outside the doors, trying to get in and realizing the doors are locked but no one can figure out why. After losing no less than 7 customers, the girl finally returns to the door to put a sign up saying they are closing early(no reason). I over hear the girl turning away some customers that someone else had opened the door for, saying that they ‘ran out of meat’ and she’s sorry for the inconvenience. What do we care? We finally got our meal… though it would have taken us less time to go to most sit down restaurants and get our food. The girl delivering the order to our table apologizes for the wait and gives us a free meal card from the manager then scurries off. Great, 45 minutes of my time is only worth $ 10? What was even more ridiculous, my husband realized that the chef had cut his burger patty in half, hoping he wouldn’t notice I guess. He literally only got half the meat that we paid for. So I ask you, what kind of place doesn’t keep an eye on their stock? They pay so little attention to it that they didn’t realize they were about to run out, and instead of telling the final customers that they ran out of meat and asking if they would like a refund, they opted to cheat their customers of half of their orders instead. The final slap in the face was looking over at our neighbors, who received their meals after us, and seeing at least 3 patties of meat on each of their burgers that they ordered sub lettuce instead of a bun. I guess they thought we wouldn’t notice no meat on our burgers because we had buns? I don’t know.

Tried a burger from this joint for the first time the other day and was pretty impressed. They make a pretty decent burger with all the fixins’ you could ask for at a pretty reasonable price. But I felt that the place kind lacked in the sanitary department. Just a whole bunch of things that caught my eye that made me not want to return. I had actually had Old School burgers in Littleton but apparently they closed all their other locations and this is the only one that remains. Weird. If I can leave you with a final thought, don’t get the onion rings, they add a spice(tarragon maybe?) to the batter and it really clashes with the flavor of the onions.

Their burgers went from unique to typical with their new remodeling. I only go for their onion rings now. With their new menu, you now get a quarter pound beef patty, you can also choose from their many sides. They also have this unlimited drink deal which is pretty cool. Overall, great changes were made but this place is still missing something…

I’ve driven past this place many times, always thinking I should stop in for a burger. I finally did today and was disappointed. I ordered a single burger with bacon, cheese, mushrooms and cheese fries. The girl at the drive through told me they make their food to order, no heat lamps and no microwaves so the wait is a little longer. I’m glad I had the warning because I sat at that window for a very long time! When they gave me my receipt, it didn’t say pickles on it. She repeated my order to me three times when I made my order and kept screwing it up, so I wasn’t surprised. I asked her if she got the pickles on my burger and she said no, and gave me a bag of pickle slices. When I got home, I tore into the box of greasy goodness… at least I thought it was going to be good. It smelled good. The fries were totally meh. My fries looked pretty much bare, just one big glob of cheese in the middle that wasn’t very melty. Definitely the most lame cheese fries I’ve ever had. The burger was even worse. The bun was dry and somewhat stale and completely fell apart on me. The mushrooms tasted disgusting, like they were too old and had started to turn. I picked them off, but caught another one when I took another bite, still rancid. I spit it back out into the box. Needless to say, I didn’t finish my meal and what I did swallow, made my digestive system upset. At least that is the politest way I can put it. I actually went as far as to call the manager and warn her that she shouldn’t serve those mushrooms. She politely brushed it off and had one of her staff taste a mushroom while I was on the phone and they claimed they were fine. She offered me a free meal if I came back and dropped her name. I’m all for free stuff, but I think I’ll turn this one down. I suggest you go a little further north up Havana and hit Freddy’s Steak Burgers instead or head south on Havana and hit Five Guys Burgers and Fries instead. Heck, I’d even recommend McDonald’d over this place! Run away and don’t look back!

As an LA transplant, I miss In n Out burger so much it is not even funny. Old School is as close as it gets to In n Out here in LA. I love their daily specials, especially Sunday, four cheese bacon burger. I say it is a good local burger joint.

Apparently, they’ve updated their website to reflect(on one page) that they have just the one location. I’ve also visited an In-n-Out since my original visit, and this is certainly on par with In-n-Out quality.

This is a great go at In-N-Out. You can never expect just the same, and I wasn’t disappointed at all here. In fact, I think the fries are better at Old School than at In-N-Out. The burger takes a little time to come out, because they cook it really fresh. I don’t mind waiting a bit for a good burger. It surprises me that every time I go the place is nearly empty. It seems like work hasn’t gotten out about it, or something. Here is the word: Old School Burgers is awesome. A fabulous product, and for me it has lived up to the internet hype comparing it to In-N-Out(pretty damn close, but still not the same).

Gave it a go due to the In-n-Out conversations this week. Yes, it’s a best effort attempt to bring that cultish burger purveyor to Denver. We have no chance of the real thing coming here, so this will have to suffice. Tried their standard offering, with fries. Stayed away from the milkshake, as I had one earlier in the week. Anyway, the burger was excellent, and the fries were top notch! I think I was surprised by the quality of the spuds. This’ll work for now, in Denver. Also, the Aurora shop was a nice space too.

I played in the Wooden Open(formerly known as the Woody Open) at the Gates Center for charity and Old School Burgers supplied the food. Tasty burgers. Like others, I had heard that they were the closest thing you could get to In-N-Out in CO. I wouldn’t say close but they were pretty darn tasty. Up there. Gave them an extra star for sponsoring an event that helped underprivileged children have the opportunity to learn and play tennis.
