Dreyer Medical Clinic-Highland

I debated about writing this but believe people need to know this. I broke a metatarsal bone in my foot on June 1. Since Dreyer does NOT have an orthopedic doctor who is a foot/​ankle specialist, I saw Podiatrist Dr. Taha who put me in a cast up to my knee. He also strongly recommended surgery, telling me I needed screws or screws and a plate in my bone. He also told me that if I did not have surgery my bone would not heal properly and/​or I would always be in pain.
After 2 weeks of being in a cast I received a second opinion from an ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago who literally laughed at my cast when he saw it and asked me «who did that?» He then said, «a podiatrist, right?» and told his nurse to immediately remove my cast and put me in an ortho air boot and told me to walk — Dr. Taha told me not to walk and to not put weight on my foot whatsoever. The ortho surgeon told me he NEVER CASTS OR DOES SURGERY for a break like mine, ONLY in the cases of bone that is very displaced, where the broken ends are not touching (mine are touching, not separated.) When I told him that Dr. Taha told me that he has performed «hundreds» of surgeries like he recommended for me, the ortho surgeon at Northwestern was shocked. He told me, «he should have said two or three.»
Ten days after I received the cast I was practicing with the crutches that I was was given by Dr. Taha and I fell and broke my wrist. I was given very inadequate and minimal instruction on the use of crutches by the Dreyer staff.
The bottom line is that had I not had the cast put on by Dr. Taha, I would not have had the crutches and therefore would not have fallen and broken my wrist. I did contact a medical malpractice attorney for the improper treatment and advice I received from Dr. Taha, but was told the case is not big enough to pursue. Thank goodness I received proper treatment at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago! I am horrified to think about how I would be now had I listened to the medical advice of Dr. Taha — I know I would NOT be in as good as shape as I am now if I had listened to him!

I had a great massage at the Physical Therapy department by Anne, who is an excellent physical therapist, she’s very knowledgeable and shared a lot of helpful information with me. She focus on the health and well being of her clients. Massage therapy is a recent addition to the physical therapy department at the 1221 N. Highland Ave. location where you can call and schedule a one hour massage for a reasonable price. It was the best experience compared to ones that I received at other massage centers. I look forward to my next visit.

Professional, quick, and friendly! Called for a same day appointment and they were able to squeeze me in. After filling out little paperwork I was seen by the nurse. Little waiting time in the room to see the doctor. Love that. They are very efficient here.

I have always been treated with the utmost dignity and respect at this location. Dr. Szuch and her staff are top notch PROFESSIONALS. It does not get any better than this. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

The staff is very nice, but there always seems to be about a 30 — 45 minute wait. Just be prepared to wait, and you should have no problems. Dr. Nuyles of Cardiology is very good and thorough as well as Dr. Pelegrin in the Orthopedics department. They seem very knowledgeable and very professional. If the wait was less, I would give this clinic 5 stars.

While the gynecologist I saw was great, I have several issues with the support staff. I was referred here by my primary physician after a routine pap. The staff here called me demanding that I take the soonest available appointment and scared me half to death but refused to tell me what the heck was going on. I showed up only to be met with a surprise biopsy that the doctor informed me her staff was supposed to have told me about. I was very reluctant to go through with what I still wasn’t 100% convinced was a necessary procedure but the office staff claimed to have already checked with my insurance and stated that the procedure was covered. A month later I got hit with $ 700 in charges that my insurance company denied after they supposedly «confirmed» that it was covered. When I attempted to dispute the charges with them the dispute process was bogus. It basically consisted of me stating the facts at hand and them telling me that I was going to pay it anyway or they’d notify the credit bureaus and they further claimaned that they «have no way of confirming coverage other than verifying that your insurance is current.» Okay fine, but then why LIE to me and tell me that you checked and the procedure was 100% covered? They had also forced me to book a 6 month follow up with this doctor for god knows what other expensive procedure. I’ll be cancelling that appointment.

Dreyer Medical Center — Mercy Campus is another excellent branch location within the Dreyer Medical Group.
I’ve had the occasion to visit their pulmonary, ear nose and throat departments on a few occasions (unfortunately) and each time was treated professionally, politely, and in a timely manner by the professionals at Dreyer.
If you’re looking for a doctor, Dreyer would be a great choice for you and your family. From the nurses, Physician Assistants, Doctors and Specialists, the Dreyer team is hard to beat!

Their GPs are good, but don’t see the OB/​GYN specialty. Dr. Korczyk is not good.
