Community College of Aurora

I went to the theater here to see «Pronoun.» The theater is small but intimate. My only issue is that the setup of the college is a big confusing to actually find the theater.

CCA is one of the WORST colleges ever. I registered for a class online and it was suddenly dropped. I even payed for it already. I had NO notification of this happening. NO ONE emailed me or called me to tell me this class was dropped. When I was checking out my account, it said I was not registered for any courses. I had to call CCA and of course no one answered the phone. No one could tell me what was going on. CCA has incompetent and lazy staff who never know how to answer your questions or neither do they want to. Don’t waste your money here, take your classes somewhere else. This college is not worth your money.

If you learn best by having someone with slightly higher education than you reading out loud a PowerPoint that came with the instructor’s manual or by watching youtube videos, CCA is the «college» for you.
If you like being answered by an automated system, leaving several messages on answering machines, and NEVER getting a call back. Call CCA.
To their credit, if you willing to sit through a bunch of boring PowerPoints and you don’t care about learning much, you can get many of your general education credits for cheaper than going to an actual college.

The processing for Finical aid is a hassle and they seemed more concerned in getting paid then for the actual education they provide. It takes 4 – 6 weeks from anything to process and in that time there is no communication and even if the paper work is not correct they do not advise of the issues. You are basically in the dark hoping your finical Aid comes through. Their processing seems to be unique to this school though, this is not how any other community colleges in Colorado work. I normally attend Metro State University and only decided to come to CCA to finish off my gen ed at a lower price. At Metro State University things go more smoothly and the school is in contact with you quickly about any changes. The only saving grace I have for CCA is that I will not have to deal with them anymore after this semester.

Small classes, friendly teachers and staff, I had a wonderful experience at this school!

First of all, no one EVER answers their phones or returns messages. If you need an issue straightened out, you should probably go in.
I guess that comes with the affordable prices.
Other than that I took two online courses this summer. English 121 online was great. Math 090 online was not so great.

I got to spend a day on this CCA campus for a library conference recently and was quite taken with this little college!
The parking here is super easy. And free! Huzzah!
The buildings are close together and well-​marked. You are not going to get lost here; there are only four academic buildings.
I spent several sessions in the classroom building and was impressed with the great technology in the computer labs. However, I did notice an old school overhead projector in a classroom. That needs to be upgraded stat!
I loved the quietness of the location and all of the greenery.
Now, that being said, I cannot speak to the academics since I was only here for a conference. However, it was a lovely little place and I enjoyed it!

First class education at a price you can afford. I’ve been taking classes here for a while and the professors are good at what they do and some actually truly care about you and your career. Don’t forget, if you live in Colorado you should also get your COF so you can get school discounted. Also, be smart and fill out your fafsa stuff before you enroll. It will make your life much easier.

This is a beautiful, easy to navigate campus. Most classrooms are in one place, and everything is easy to find. They keep it well groomed and looking rather nice all year round. However, the office people have been steadily horrible for the past four semesters I’ve been there.
Ever semester someone messes up somewhere and I have to go in and fight with people to get it fixed. Their office staff in the Cashier’s Office constantly treat you as if you’re bothering them. Every person in there I’ve talked to has been extremely rude, and I’ve always been friendly from the start. I know they probably get yelled at all day but they need to learn some better customer service. The admissions staff has also consistently been rude, and they refuse to take responsibility for anything. They always blame someone or something else. When I registered a couple years back I moved out here to move back in with my parents to continue my education. I was only 19, still a dependent, and the school told me I had to wait a year before I qualified for in-​state tuition even though my parents had been here much longer. I sucked it up and paid the ridiculous tuition, only to find out a year later that I DID qualify for in-​state tuition, but the school would not reimburse me for my over payment even though they specifically told me the wrong information.
The Financial Aid office, which is where I end up the most, is actually very friendly and helpful and will assist you step by step with anything.
The teachers however, have been absolutely fantastic. And that’s the only reason I give this school three stars. If you’re looking for a good education at a decent price, you will find it here. The classes are relatively small and the teachers genuinely care about your success. The bookstore and student center is always nice and clean and is a nice place to relax between classes. They even have a little cafeteria which isn’t too bad.
Just make sure you watch EVERYTHING closely including transcripts, bills, and your financial aid status, otherwise you could really get taken advantage of.
