Canine/Feline Behavior Counseling

Big thanks to Marie for all that she did for my cats. She was responsive and easy to work with. Marie went above and beyond for positive results. I highly recommend her!!!

I contacted Marie about helping me with my dog. She stated that she would send me a questionnaire and that it needed to be filled out before our appointment. Well I never received the questionnaire and I just spaced it. The night before our appointment, we are driving back from the mountains, I get a phone call from Marie stating that she never received my questionnaire. I told her that I never received an email from her at all. She then told me that I had to have it in a couple of hours or we had to reschedule. Well, we did not get back until late that evening, so I did not get to her until the next morning. My bad. When opening her email the next morning, I was unable to open the attachment where the questionnaire was and responded back. She told me that we had to reschedule because I responded to late. I understood and was happy to do so. Although, the way the Marie speaks to me and email is in a very rude and offending tone. Using capital letters in most of her statements. She told me that she would waive the cancellation fee and I told her that was great since I never received the questionnaire in the first place. This is her response back to me:
I wrote:
It is fine that we cancel today’s appointment, but please understand that I never received any other email from you other than this one so it would have been impossible for me to read that you require the questionnaire 24 hours before the appointment. I work 11 hour days, so I apologize for not remembering that I should have received an email from you prior to our appointment and had not. It is mentioned in your email below that you are not charging me for the cancellation fee but you state in the next sentence that you are. Is that a typo or will the $ 60 be for the next session?
She wrote:
When we spoke on Tuesday, July 8^th, I stated that I would be sending you a questionnaire that I needed to have returned by Sunday. I called you last evening at 7 pm, resent the questionnaire and extended the deadline to 9pm as a courtesy. I clearly stated on both my voicemail and in our phone conversation at 7:14pm that I must have the questionnaire returned by 9pm. I waited in my office until 11pm awaiting your questionnaire. I received no response until 6:23 this morning.
My policies were clearly stated in both of our phone conversations, on my website, my original email and on both copies of the questionnaire. This policies are in place and enforced into to accommodate clients who are serious about working with their dogs and to protect my business.
My 6:24am email this morning clearly stated that I was NOT charging you the cancellation fee, but would require, as stated in our policies that our next session be PREPAID before being scheduled.
It is obvious from your emails that we have a serious communication problem, that PREVENTS ME FROM BEING ABLE TO HELP YOU WITH YOUR DOGS. I recommend that you find another trainer who is more able to meet your expectations and that can communicate with you in a more effective.
TO BE CLEAR, I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO WORK WITH YOU AND YOUR DOGS. I AM NOT THE TRAINER FOR YOU! I hope that you find someone more able to meet your expectations and needs.
As you can see there is no room for error with this woman. I clearly accept that I should have called her and forgot as we were on vacation. Potential clients should not be treated as idiots by simply being late or forgetting about the questionnaire. And you are going to throw away business because someone wants some clarification about fees.

I adopted my dog, Titus, from Maxfund last summer… within a week he had bitten two people (thank God no one was hurt)! An animal control officer recommended Marie to me, what a blessing! Within a couple of sessions she taught me how to direct and handle Titus so that he and I would both feel safe. She is still working with us when needed, but my confidence has grown and our sessions are much less stressful. Thank You Marie!!!

Marie (the owner) is wonderful! What a great dog counselor! I needed help with my 4 year old dog who is urinating and causing yellow spots in our grass. I asked Marie how I can train him to start going on the side of the house in the mulch instead. Marie is so knowledgeable and patient. She explained to me that it could be something else in his urine that could cause his body to be too alkaline, which could be the issue. Funny thing is that we have a water alkalizer, which is exactly what I give to him in his water bowl! Duh! I would have never thought about that! So now we are giving him just filtered h20 water and the problem seems to be solved! Thanks so much for your knowledge Marie! I look forward to some more counseling sessions for my 4 legged boxer friend!

Marie is excellent! She took my crazy hyper 8 month old puppy, Keiko, who was actually anxious, and turned her into mush! Marie showed me how to calm my dog down through acupressure. It’s worked wonders.
It’s been two days since Marie was over and my puppy is completely different. She can still get hyper and have fun, but she’s more in control and behaves herself. More importantly, she’s listening to me when I give her a command!
I had a major problem with Keiko chasing our two 16 year old cats and since Keiko is now calm and behaving, the cats have not been chased under a bed since. The entire atmosphere of the house has changed. All the animals are calm and happy.
It really helps that Marie comes to your house because then she gets to address the problems where they are most likely to occur. More importantly, Marie can show you what YOU are doing wrong to cause the behavioral issues.
I highly recommend Canine/​Feline Behavior Counseling. They are worth every penny!

We bought a border collie (Angus) from a supposedly reputable breeder in early November 2010, We soon realized that this was more of a rescue situation, and Angus needed some professional training FAST if we were going to keep him … !
Marie came over to our house and immediately helped Angus calm down (while showing us how to do that after she left). We’ve since had her over for about a half-​dozen more sessions with Angus, and we also took her puppy training class.
I’m sure the passage of time and a much-​needed neutering had something to do with it, but we think Marie & Canine Behavior Counseling was the single biggest contributor to the loving, MUCH better behaved puppy that Angus is today. THANK YOU, Marie!
