Baum Property Management

Last straw today dealing with that horrible association. I wont’ go into details, as others here have many of the same issues I’ve experienced. I’ve lived here for over 15 years and have been part of this association for as long. It wasn’t the best over the years, but was tolerable. The past five years it has REALLY gone downhill and, as others have pointed out, their representatives have ZERO people skills. Putting my house on the market to get out of this association! Good luck to them when they get irresponsible people in the subdivision who don’t pay their dues (as many here do not).

I will keep this short because as I agree with all the low star reviews that have already been posted. This is not my first time working with a property management company. They can have a hard job because they need to bend to a board. I understand that, I recognize it and I still think that BPM deserves the 1 star review.

I have actually had to re evaluate my review here and take it down to only two stars. While I like Mike Baum as a person, some of the operating procedures are just bad. The final straw was one of the managers implying that it was myself not doing enough. Apparently she had all my emails going to spam, so she took it upon herself to tell me that maybe I should work harder, and try more for our community and help by replying to emails .

Baum has been working tirelessly to help turn our HOA around. They have been open and receptive to any criticism and instead of automatically getting defensive, will work to ensure all needs are met.
More times than not people only seem to leave reviews when they are unhappy about a business, but it’s also important to recognize and recommend a business when they are doing great.

This company is not worth one star. Loree King is the absolute worse. I honestly cannot believe that she is our contact person. I will be taking our issues over her head. She has no people skills whatsoever.

Absolutely poor customer service and poor follow-​up. I moved out of state and changed alternative address to California. My invoices never arrived and Baum Property stated that they cannot change alternative address over the phone. This was changed four times in the past. I never received a call even though my cell phone number remains on file.
Poor process and undesirable customer service. Barb was extremely rude and short. This is a poor reflection on our subdivision.

I noticed that there were some comments on here putting down one of the property managers. Lori King is also our property manager, and has been for the last 10 years. I have had many conversions with Lori, some great and yes some frustrating… BUT I have found that more often than not Lori is trying to help. I may not always agree with the way things are, but Lori is just doing her job and doing what our board is asking her to do (based on the by laws of the association). She may be a bit rough around the edges at times, but she has always worked hard to «get the job done». She works hard to resolve issues. Last year we asked about the lawn care company switching the day they come so that the grass would be freshly cut for weekend get togethers. Although she was unable to get it changed last year, she worked to get it changed this year and now our lawn care service comes right before the weekend! Baum Property Management has my vote !

I agree with the previous post. For some reason Baum keeps Loree on and I cannot figure out why. She is always defensive and not professional. She does not have extensive experience in dealing with condo issues and I have to question the HOA budget spending. Have not dealt with anyone else at Baum but she is an obstacle homeowners do not want to face.

Horrible customer service with a well-​deserved (BAD) reputation, rotten phone manners and even worse communication skills. Services all provided by lowest bidders, and it shows. More interested in recent projects such as front porch/​step replacement and partial outside balcony repair (instead of doing the whole thing at once) — opposed to taking care of anything living, like grass, shrubs, trees. We have a bald spot on our lawn from the front step repair from a few years ago that they have not addressed after multiple complaints. The front yard looks more like the surface of the moon.
Recently they had several stricken trees cut down, but have provided NO information as to plans to replace them, they’ve just left stumps along our streets. When arrangements HAVE been made on different concerns for multiple units, we don’t find out who these contractors are or what they’re doing here until much later.
Currently rated as «F» with the Better Business Bureau, for failure to respond to complaints. I don’t know who signed them up in the first place, but I wish the residents in my association would get together and fire them.

Baum has managed our Condo Association for the past 7 years. Our Property Manager is Loree King. In this time I’ve had numerous issues from landscaping to inaccurate charges.
First, we only own from the drywall in. We’ve been told that we’re expected to care for the landscaping. If it dies from something like a drought, we’re responsible for paying to replace it. There is one spigot at the end of each building for 16 units. The one on our building ended up getting locked one year due to the baseball players from the neighboring park using it to drink and bathe. Nobody was told and nobody was given a key. The next year when we finally got a key they removed the lock.
They also have a landscaping business (lawn mowers /​hedge trimmers) that comes in to care for everything. The shrubs in front of my unit had become over grown in a span of 5 years after not being properly cared for. Not once had they been trimmed or pruned. I had emailed Loree more times than I can count about this issue (along with others). They finally ‘trimmed’ them down this year and all that is left is dead branches. The front of my unit looks like trash. Unfortunately, I can’t do anything about it or I’ll be charged additional fees ($ 50 + per each) for planting new /​nicer plants. This same company ended up breaking one of my windows and they found several nice ways of telling me that they won’t ever pay to replace it.
They provide snow removal service in the winter as well. Unfortunately, I have an end parking space. My space is continuously plowed under (last year in particular it was over 8′ deep). They usually don’t show up until long after we’ve left for work (2 or 3:00pm). There were a few times that I was able to catch them last year when they actually came out for some extra visits with all the snow. I kindly asked (begged even) that they remove the snow from the end parking spaces so we wouldn’t have to park in the street. Parking in the street just pisses off the city workers, then they plow us into the curb. They guy in the truck would make 5 of the guys go over and hand shovel my spot out. To my dismay, they would never really get enough snow out to fit my car into my space!
These are really only a handful of the minor issues I’ve experienced, not necessarily with Baum, but with Loree. I’ve heard from a coworker who has Baum that another Property Manager they have is great and so nice to work with. This makes me wish we had someones else to work with. Nobody shows up to our Association Meetings because they think (and I quote), «That woman [Loree] is a witch!»
