OK, so I have to admit, I don’t really like or appreciate this sculpture but, I have to admit that this artist is impressive. Here’s a Colorado artist, who has created dozens of public sculptures for businesses, cities, states, parks, schools, and private owners, all over the US and Canada.
This may be my least favorite of his pieces, but I gotta admire his tenacity, and initiative. Artist, Davis Griggs, of Denver, graduated from the University of Colorado, in Boulder, with a masters degree in fine art. Here’s a self made man, succeeding in the art arena in our community. That’s great! As I watched this sculpture being built(see photos) and I had to question, *Is it trying to spell something? *Why such a strange blue, when the other colors are so primary? *It’s whimsical, but where’s the humor? *Doesn’t it need some relevancy, to something, anything? *Why would the city of Aurora purchase this when they already own ugly public art? *Whose idea was this anyway?
