This is in the top three best places to eat in Augusta. I have never had a bad meal at Riverfront and I have eaten here a lot. Staff is always very good. It has the best Blackened Chicken Cesar salad I have ever had. Great drinks and you can always find some great local brews on tap. The downsides would be. If your not in a booth the seating in my opinion is uncomfortable and the prices are a little high.

We dined here for the first time last night. We were warmly welcomed and seated promptly. Our food was fresh, wonderfully presented, and flavored perfectly. We could not have asked for a better dining experience!

One of our favorite local spots. Best Cesar Salad in Augusta. Excellent draft beer selection. The service is always great.

Burger was good nothing spectacular, but fries were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Rice was dry, but Caribbean shrimp wrap was really good. Habanero sauce was not too spicy. Margarita was really good even with well tequila. Overall a good dining experience for lunch.

The service was excellent. The food was very delicious and flavorful. We felt like we were sitting in Memphis. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. And the barbecue was tasteful

Dinner was excellent and was served fast. Maybe 15 minuets to be served. I had the special Texas brisket, my daughter had the sausage and Mac and my wife had pulled BBQ chicken and corn bread. We all thought it was excellent. Jennifer was excellent as a waitress and gave us just the correct amount of attention. Huge portion sizes and a nice atmosphere. An excellent place to go and I highly recommend it.

As a family, we’ve been here several times and we’ve always had a delicious and pleasant experience. The wait staff has always been exceptional and friendly and the beer selection includes local craft beers as well as the usual domestic beers. As to the food, I’ve never bbq’ed at the US hotbeds of like NC, KC or Tennessee but I haven’t found any dry rub BBQ as delicious as this anywhere in Maine. We’ve tried most all of the options on the menu and highly recommend you give Riverside BBQ a go!

Great selection and very fresh! Fish tacos were outstanding as was the bbq pork sandwich. First time I’ve had an Arnold Palmer where the lemonade was freshly squeezed right in front of us(we sat at the bar) We are on a road trip and wanted a real meal not fast food and we were not disappointed!

This place was a great surprise. We were a party of three for dinner on a Saturday night. It’s very nice inside — recently remodeled and it’s small, so cozy and friendly feeling. I’m a vegetarian and they had several options. I had the hush puppies, house salad, and a side of their bayou pilaf. It was all good. The hush puppies have what tastes like a little bit of cumin in them and they’re very lightly fried, which is a nice twist. I also tried some of their corn bread, which was really good. I will definitely go back, especially with out of town guests.

I was passing through Augusta with friends and needed a place to grab a bite, as our top choice was closed in observance of Memorial Day. This place was near by and I do love BBQ — especially brisket. When we arrived, we were the only customers, but the place filled in fairly quickly as it was nearing noon. Our server was friendly and efficient. My friends and I were starving, so in addition to our meals, we split and appetizer. This was by far my favorite thing I had there! We had the onion rings. But, these weren’t just any onion rings — they were pickled onion rings! Pickled! Perfect thin sliced onions, very lightly breaded and fried. But, with a distinct dill pickle flavor. I want these again! Now, right now, actually! For my meal, I ordered the brisket platter with corn bread, coleslaw and fries. And, while it was all good and tasty, the brisket was average for me. The portions were good sized and if definitely like to go back and try more.

The food is always very good here. The ribs are great! I like the BBQ sauce but am used to having sever options including mustard and vinegar based sauces which if they made them available would surely be great. I’ve had all the meats, some of the appetizers, and a few of the specials and they are all thoughtfully played with a complementing side and well executed. Pretty good beer selection but their upstairs bar has a better one.

This place just deserves way more credit, as the quality of food is right up there with Beal Street BBQ and a few bucks cheaper. Due to the location, I think people may miss out on the opportunity. Order the sausage platter. Or anything on the regular menu, pretty much. Like most restaurants, don’t bother with the specials. Waitstaff attentive. Not too busy, not too slow. Just a chill place to enjoy some pulled pork and a decent beer. A hidden gem!

Service was excellent at the bar Had the risotto with blackened fish. The portion was generous Risotto was way too salty and soupy in the cheese sauce(I was warned that it was very cheesy, which I’d normally appreciate. The saltiness negated my enthusiasm.) Blackened fish was set on top which was a bit off putting The server tried to make it better with a complimentary dessert, which was declined Ok food, superb service Stick with the bbq

Great central Maine BBQ joint in a state that has a paucity of ‘que options. My brisket was tender, flavorful(with just the right amount of smokiness) and the Riverfront’s sauce they use gives all of their meats a nice kick. This particular dish is served on their grilled cornbread, which is a treat if you haven’t had it before. The side I opted for was their cole slaw, which is the shredded(vs. chopped) variety that I like. There was a bit of vinegary-ness evident, but not overdone. A really nice treatment of a dish that so many places do poorly – fortunately, the Riverfront knows what makes for a good cole slaw, which is a great side for barbeque, btw. Nice selection of beers on tap, including Pemaquid Ale, from Sheepscot Valley Brewing, which isn’t available everywhere. If you like Scottish ales(which I decided to have in honor of the valiant efforts across the pond, where the good people of Scotland rallied to free themselves from English rule and came up just short), which I do, then Pemaquid is a great, full-bodied ale. If you are passing through Augusta, jump off the interstate and head for downtown for some quality barbeque and one of our capital city’s better eateries.

Delicious food. Good service. Green salad with oranges and red onions reminds me of Mediterranean peasant food I grew up on. «Ixnay» Gluten Free beer a tasty surprise ! Fish tacos really good. Too bad they don’t take American Express. I probably won’t be back. …

Excellent all around. Friendly service, good value and incredible food. The only thing I wouldn’t order again is the Mac n cheese. Tasted like Kraft, which I can easily make at home. We loved the pulled pork and brisket. Fries and cole shaw and corn bread are fantastic. Sweet tea is delicious, too!

Had dinner at Riverfront BBQ and Grille tonight. Only one other table was occupied when we entered at 4:45pm, but the place filled up soon after. Blues music and the smell of smoky goodness put us in the mood for what was to come. I ordered the Pulled Pork & Beef Brisket over cornbread w/beans and fries for sides, my gf had the ¼ chicken & ½ rack of ribs — WOW, everything was outstanding, the BESTBBQ we have ever had ! I read the Unilocal reviews on here, and a few of the reviewers stated that their ribs were«dry» — that was certainly not the case for us, we found the ribs to be extremely tasty & moist. Beans & coleslaw, very good. The sauce on the table, also very good. And the cornbread… DAMNGOOD ! My gf also downed a couple of White Russians — great drink, she told me ! Service was excellent also. The only thing that bums us out about Riverfront BBQ is that it is located 300 miles from our home, because we would be regular customers if we lived in the Augusta area.

Stopped in here one afternoon when we came into town to drop off a friend at the bus station while on vacation. It’s got a great location, but sad to say this ‘waterfront’ is lacking a energetic scene. I was happy to see this place was trying to ‘improve’ the area. The building was clean and open. We sat at one of the booths by the street front window. Our waitress was very friendly and shared a few laughs with us as we people watched. They had a nice beer selection, so we had a few rounds. For lunch we had the Riverfront’s Veggie Risotto, Burro Vegetale, and Crab & Slab. I food was pretty decent. The risotto was really creamy and rich, but a little too much cheese and needed more veggies. The burro was really nice. I think I liked it more than the risotto. I tried my friends crab cake and found it to be appetizing as well, but the corn bread alone sold me on this place. Just like my grandma used to make! I have to give it a 4 star, just because of where it is. I’m glad to see them working to maintain a level of class in what they are doing. But don’t compare that 4 to a city full of amazing restaurants. Don’t expect amazing things, but just good olé food & service.
