Augusta Marriott at the Convention Center

I stayed here three nights. Let me say upfront that I travel a lot for business and I prefer to stay at the better accommodations. Pros for staying at the Marriott Augusta Convention Center — it’s right on the Augusta Riverwalk which is pretty and a great place to go for a run, it’s within walking distance of a number of good restaurants and pubs, the rooms appeared to have been renovated recently. Cons: It’s close to the train tracks so if your a light sleeper make sure they put you in a room that doesn’t face the Riverwalk. The cleanliness of my room was not acceptable as my floors were not clean, the white tile in the bathroom showed many hairs of the kind you don’t want to be seeing on your floor or in your tub/​shower. There is no carpet in the room other than a small mat by the bed which is weird. I wore my socks in the room and they quickly turned from white to brown. I like to do calisthenics in my room every morning and the lack of carpet made that uncomfortable. the bed was very firm (which may be a pro for some people). As Marriott’s go lately I have to say this one was better than most I’ve stayed at. Augusta has a ton of low to mid-​level hotels but few in the higher-​end of the spectrum. Overall I’d say it was a decent place to stay.

The parking attendant (an older white man) at the front door was a total SA. When I asked, with tip money in hand, if we should leave our bags (so he could help take them to our room) he replied with «ah, no you should leave them in the car until you drive around to elevators in the parking garage». Totally unprofessional. I was beyond upset by that. The room was nice, spacious and clean. I did however take 2 semi cold showers because I could not get the water hot. It was New Year’s Eve and the bar was busy, not packed but busy. However the two bartenders did not work well together. We ordered drinks from one and the other took a to go food order. 30 minutes and another drink later the to go order still wasn’t out. I am guessing because it was never put in. When it did come out they had to ask us what we had to drink because they couldn’t find it in the computer. They were nice, but completely unorganized and flustered. I have stayed there before and not had any issues. Maybe it was just a bad day to be there.

The service is really good. The rooms are spacious and classy. My room had a river view from the window and it was beautiful. The breakfast options are good too and the food at Augustino’s Italian eatery is delicious too. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel if you are traveling to Augusta.

Room 666 read the enveloped card key of the hotel. It was Friday the 13^th… could she be possibly joking? Could my life get more colorful, please? I smiled as I rolled my suitcase down the hallways, up the elevators, passed some lobbies in a mixture of glee and incredulity. I had just arrived in Augusta and the lonely streets of downtown cast a shadow over the days to come. Mind you, I bask in my lonely… but I enjoy people watching especially so when I travel.
The Marriot at the convention center received us warmly and immediately. I had expected to store my suitcase, since I arrived way too early for the check in, but room 666 was ready for us. It ended up being a suite which I had not asked for nor pay for. Huge. Amazingly plush bedding and impeccably clean. Sure, I had walked into the hotel experiencing some Daytona Hilton PTSD, but this place was so charming that I believe I am healed.
The hotel was booked with a lot of rowers who were excitedly greeting and celebrating. I was scared that noise would become a pain later on, but it never was one. My room was rather close to the elevator but it could not be heard. The hotel is right by the River Walk and a couple of blocks away from the «main» (Broad Street) in downtown. We were given a colorful map of the shops and restaurants and off we were… and explore we did.
Every staff member greeted me every single time I went in and out… in each unique encounter, a smile. I think I am glad I stayed at the suites and not the modern main tower… I enjoyed the southern charm… the brocade… the glass chandeliers… the paintings… the fireplaces… the long staircases… It took me elsewhere which is exactly what a vacation should be.
If the universe had anything to say to me, it came not on the 666, but rather on the beautiful night as I returned from Frog Hollow… when a man sat under the street lamp with his sax playing «chestnuts roasting on an open fire.» His open sax case held scattered dollar bills… and I sat on the steps of the entrance no longer feeling cold… and watched him in absolute awe… in the end a «God bless you, mam” – «May He bless you even more.»

Great hotel in a great location of you need/​want to stay in Augusta. The drive to base is about twenty minutes but what nightlife and restaurants do exist are two blankets cold away. The staff is great and they have a nice bar and restaurant on the first floor. Free laundry service and a indoor hot tub and pool. Highly recommend staying here. Will be returning for sure.

Nice hotel for the most part. But charging by the hour to access the «business center» (Internet and a printer) is tacky. Even Motel 6 doesn’t do that. Otherwise AOK.

The staff here is incredibly helpful and sweet. They really make you feel at home. The rooms are very clean and modern… so fancy! I love it!
My room was by the elevator and the first night (Thurs) was quiet… The others. not so much. I had unwanted wakeup calls from loud guests in the hallway, a screaming child next door, and a deaf neighbor watching TV on the other side. Not the hotel’s fault but next time, I’m asking for a room allllll the way at the end.
And another plus, free shuttle to/​from the airport. My driver was Joseph and he’s the best. He gave suggestions on where to eat/​what to do and at the end of the trip, asked how everything went.

4 ½ stars. Nicely priced and in a good location.
Staff was super friendly and the room itself was amazing. Nice, firm King bed with a huge (42″ ?) flatscreen and a daybed. The toiletries smelled nice and the shower… oh, the shower. I would gladly let my skin prune up if it meant staying in *that* shower (though, it could’ve been slightly more pressured, but that’s it).
If you’re from Augusta, it could serve as a good spot for a «staycation» (god I hate myself for using that word).
I guess if I had one «complaint”/criticism, it’d be that you have to pay for parking ($ 7/​nt), even as a guest. I don’t recall this being laid out on their website, but I may have missed that detail. And while that’s not terrible compared to other hotels, if you really want to save yourself money for 7 double cheeseburgers (is that even still a thing at McDonald’s…) and don’t mind a bit of a walk, you may be able to find street parking on Broad Street.
Overall, I would totally stay here again, if for no other reason than to check out Augustino’s next time… oh, and that shower.

I’m only allowed 1500 characters… so here is the short version.
The room had a smell. Not a bad one, not a good one… just… weird.
Housekeeping doesn’t give 2 F%$KS that you are trying to sleep and will intentionally let every door they exit from slam behind them. OVER. AND. OVER. It is maddening. At first, I thought it was inconsiderate guests. Then I went into the hallway and realized it was housekeeping, on both sides of me… repeatedly letting doors slam. It shakes the whole room. Please let your staff know to be more considerate and not let doors slam… mmmkay.
The rooms are filthy. My coffee pot didn’t work. The floors were dusty. Fingerprints on the walls and switches. Smears all over the mirror — god only know what that was…
Renovations are half-a#$#d at best. Shower leaks. No work space, drawers don’t open. Cracked tiles, AC didn’t work either. My room was a sauna.
No staff apparently. 2 days in a row, Starbucks was open… No one working, not a staff member in sight.
PERKS — the area is very cool. Walk-​able. Maintenance man (should have asked his name) was very nice and opened a door for me.

We were on a trip to pick up our son from camp in Cleveland Ga so we decided to stay at your hotel on the last night before pick up. It was over 4^th of July weekend so the hotel was empty. We asked for a private room that was quiet and on a high floor. We explained that we wanted something romantic so the clerk offered to upgrade us to concierge level for an additional $ 30 only to be reminded by her co-​worker that due to the holiday the concierge level was closed. So was the Starbucks and Quiznos on site. They gave us room 832. It had a beautiful view of the River walk with windows on both sides. Unfortunately the TV then ended up being on the side wall not across from the bed, but the view made up for it. Not 5 minutes later we heard voices from the adjacent room. Why if the hotel was empty would they put someone right next door??? The walls were paper thin! We decided to make some tea in the room but there was no tea bags. We decided to take a shower but there was no soap and some half used body wash. The room only had a small shower stall in it with no place to put shampoo or conditioner and no bench to shave your legs. The shower head was leaking and the shower had black mold all over it that I took pictures of. There was no vent fan in the bathroom. The toilet seat and tank cover didn’t match the toilet. We decided to relax and go use the hot tub and pool but there was a family reunion staying on the other side of the property who had children in the hot tub our entire stay. We made three attempts to try and enjoy the «amenities». At 11:30 at night when we were sleeping we got woken up by load banging on our door saying «Security, please open the door» When we did after asking to see some identification, he told us our neighbors complained that our TV was too loud. Really??? It was on #13 volume. The walls were too thin. Why didn’t they just call our room instead of scaring us half to death??? Needless to say after a hour of me not being able to fall back asleep from my heart racing, I went downstairs to complain. They offered us to change rooms. At 12:30 midnight? They offered us free buffet breakfast, we already had that. They offered us something from the snack bar. I think they should have comped the room. They did end up calling a manager and gave us a $ 30 discount. I would rather pay full price and have an amazing experience instead of getting a discount and having a horrible experience.

Absolute beautiful property seated right on the canal. Two blocks from all that Broad St has to offer.

If you here for a conference, it’s likely a four star place due to amenities and local attractions within walking distance. However, if you are a 1 – 2 night business traveler, you may be better suited to look elsewhere.
Upon checking in, you literally have to walk the length of two football fields to get across the convention center to your suite. Make note of this if you have a lot of luggage.
Additionally, the business center is not operated by the hotel and they charge per minute for internet access and $ 1.50 per black and white page. No consideration given to Gold Marriott members. If you need anything printed, pony up or drive to a Fed-​Ex Kinkos.

The hotel was beautiful had a great lobby and was adjacent to the convention center. The rooms were cozy and warn. The bathroom was acceptable. As you can see from my other reviews of brand flagship hotels I am just not sure they are worth the money for me as a business traveller. Rooms are expensive, everything is extra including parking. It is really more than I need. But if you are on vacation or going to a convention this is the lace to stay and see Augusta. Staff was great and it was a nice stay.

OH how I wanted to give this place more than 3 stars… BUT, a HARD BED and waking up with a sore back just doesn’t make up for the other outstanding features of this hotel.
The Pluses: GREAT Staff, like at every Marriott. Always pleasant, courteous, helpful and available. Marriott trains their personnel VERY, VERY well and it shows. The Valet/​Bell Hops were particularly nice here.
Gave some free homemade cookies every night. Very nice.
Attached to Augustino’s Restaurant… a GREAT restaurant (see my review of that place). Excellent quality food… yes it’s NOT CHEAP. But the quality is good, and they were open on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and evening. Thankfully I was able to eat a good meal on Christmas Night after a not so great experience at Buca de Beppo.
LOCATION. Right in the heart of the Riverwalk and the «wanting to thrive» downtown area. Ever since I moved to Augusta in the late 80’s, Augusta has TRIED (mostly unsuccessfully) to revitalize downtown. I THINK they’re learning that the not-​so-​secret-​secret is to get people to MOVE downtown. It’s worked in many other cities, namely my hometown of Chicago and current city of Charlotte. Simple formula — people move in and so do businesses.
The Meh — Price. Not cheap (for Augusta) at $ 135/​night. Thankfully I’m a Marriott Gold Reward Member so I got one night free to dull the pain.
The room, although a «suite,» was nice, it was a little dated and the bathroom could have used a minor upgrade.
And the #1 reason, again, for giving this property only 3 Stars — THE BED! Somewhere in there concrete complete with Rebar was sandwiched in between the mattresses… GAWD. One of the biggest reasons I am loyal to Marriott IS THE QUALITY of their BEDS! Normally soft and I rarely ever wake up with a sore back. This bed gave me two very bad bachaches. I did write this same review on the Marriott website AND told the Hotel Manager so hopefully they’ll do something about it. Maybe I simply got a bum bed… Again, I’ve NEVER had a backache at any Marriott that I’ve stayed at around the world.
3 Stars does seem so unfair to me because this really IS A NICE HOTEL with a superb staff, great location and an adjacent excellent restaurant. But I can’t get over the whole hard bed thing. Hey, there’s a first for everything.
I’d still recommend this place but check out the bed first and if the bed’s hard ask for another room. I should have done that!

The high star reviews here confuse me. I stayed two nights and never saw a single impressive thing. To the contrary, this hotel seems to be a bit of a dump to me… And I easily spend over half the nights of the year in hotels.
Check-​in, the front counter guy neglected to tell us we were staying in the «suites «side of the hotel, which is a good 5+ minute walk from the main hotel. This is a huge annoyance when you’re dragging your bags behind you. I fully expected to find the promised «suite» a closet, but can, at least, report that the room was a decent size. Separate living room and bedroom with a small fridge and microwave… Yes, it was suite-​like.
The state of the room though, GROSS. The carpet had stuff all over it, like it had barely been vacuumed since the previous guest. Two or three spots had huge piles of spending crumbled on them. Not sure what it was, but let’s just say I didn’t take off my socks. The bathroom was disgusting, an AWFUL smelling tub and stray hairs that were definitely not mine on the floor. (One of the good things about being blonde… You usually don’t see your own hair, until your vacuum at home sucks it up and it’s in the filter :-))
I’m staying here for work, praying that they won’t continue booking this establishment. Not looking forward to any future stays here.

Right off Broad Street and twice feeding me upgrades… I can dig it.
It’s really all about location for this megaplex in the Marriott family. Conference goers stay here (their conference is like in the convention center), biz travelers stay here (the rates are reasonable), families stay here (it’s in the heart of downtown), airline personnel stay here (the free shuttle to/​from the airport). And I stay here (all of the above).
What it lacks in small inn charm, or regional homage to sport, culture and history, the Marriott makes up for with comfortable beds, cordial staff and moderately priced, highly palatable steak sandwiches delivered to your room. Solid toiletries, too.

We stayed at this hotel 7 years ago and it was great. We had an opportunity to stay again, and it is starting to show it’s age a bit. The room did not appear to have been updated at all. The bathroom had wallpaper that was starting to peel away, there was a lot of caulk repairs around the bathtub, the sink didn’t turn off good and the carpet was stained and dirty.
They charge for extras like decent internet access and parking.
Honestly, I think a nicer room could be found for half the price at a newer Holiday Inn.
I would have to skip this next time I am in Augusta.

We stayed 3 nights. We were here for a wedding. Dinner after the wedding practice was in Augustino’s on the lobby level. I rate the restaurant and hotel 5 stars. The facilities and the staff are A-​one, including the friendly & helpful bellhops. Most of the wedding party stayed here also. Marriott, the hotel and restaurant, did an excellent job.
My only regret was that I did not bring my swimming suit for the hot tub. There is also an indoor pool. The gym is nicely outfitted so I could work off some of the calories I consumed. You can jog or walk along the Riverwalk or use one of the many indoor track machines too. This is an easy town to learn.
Easy in/​out parking is $ 7.00 daily. This is the place I will stay when I am in Augusta again.

I checked into the Partridge inn thinking it would be okay, but no! After getting my refund from
, I was so happy that Marriott was able to offer me the best rate for the night. As soon as I walked in the staff couldn’t be anymore welcoming. The staircase and chandelier would have you mistaken this as some boutique hotel. The manager checked me in quickly and with such warmth. As soon as I entered my room, a lady showed up to de-​feather my room. She was sweet and professional.
I cannot be happier looking out Savannah River and the outdoor pool from my window.
I will definitely recommend this hotel to everybody who ever visits Augusta!
