Just a couple miles off I-80 north on the Grass Vally Highway we stopped in for a bowl of Phở on the way back up to Tahoe Donner. My wife had the wonton version and I had the King. Both delicious. The King came with lots of rare beef, brisket, tendon and meatball. The traditional garnishes of basil, bean sprouts, jalapeño and lime were fresh and plentiful. I would have liked a little bundle of fresh cilantro as well. The service was fast and friendly and a good value for $ 25 that included tax and tip. We will definitely make this a frequent stop on our way to and from the Bay Area to get a Phở King Good fix.

The service is quick. The food is tasty. My waiter was all business and not friendly. The ambience is good if you’re there with the right people. This place is worth trying.

Today I had lunch with a buddy at Phở King Good. Yes, people get a chuckle from the name. My first time here, but my buddy is a regular. First thing, the place is clean and the service was great. Second, I had my usual favorite, raw beef phở. Nice they have two size bowls, small and large. Broth was good and flavorful. Phở was cooked well too. Third, we also had the bahn mi French fries. Great take on banh mi flavor a served on top to crispy fries. It’s a winner! If you’re ever in Auburn and need some good Vietnamese food, stop by here. I sure will again.

What a wonderful little gem of a restaurant! It’s authentic Vietnamese food tucked away on the way to Tahoe. I love the grass fed phở broth, probably one of the cleaner bowls I’ve had outside of my Mother-in-law. This restaurant last vest up to its name.

I wanted to check out this place just for shits and giggles, but it turned out to be a very pleasant experience. Oh those spring rolls… so fresh and succulent… and the size of the rolls — they are humongous!!! Loved the food here.

First off, this place has a LOT of promise. They’re really working hard and the place is popular and hopping. Compared to Bay Area phở, the food is just OK, though perfectly acceptable. Great idea for a Phở fillup on the way home from Tahoe: good freeway access. The Phở Tai meat was a little overcooked, but not grossly so. I’d go there again, hoping they will up their game to 4 – 5 stars. Prices are really good. They need better wine and beer selection.

Stopped in here coming down from North Tahoe — I’d Unilocaled it on our way up and, like most visitors, was lured in by the insipid pun in their name. I’ve wisened up since then, so all the«Phở Shizzle“s, «Wok This Way“s, and«Thai Tanic“s better get their acts together — a punny name does not a 5-star restaurant make. Fortunately, the food is the best part of PKG. My Seafood Soup was very much on par with my favorite Bay Area phở place, but it was about 20% more expensive, which was kind of a bummer. They also don’t give you any sprouts, limes, jalepeno, or cilantro, which is usually one of my favorite parts about phở. The service was decent; super helpful and our food came out together, which was nice. The restaurant itself was pretty drafty, though, and an overpowering smell that was very reminiscent of those«cherry» scented urinal cakes dominated the air the entire time we were there. It must have been a disinfectant or something, but it was incredibly off-putting and is the #1 reason I won’t return here in the future. If you’re in the area and craving Vietnamese, no doubt this is probably your best bet within a pretty wide region. If you’re heading West and are just rolling through town, though, stay the course a bit longer and wait until you’re in Sac or the Bay.

I have had phở at about fifty other places but this place was not good. The broth was nice but they skimp on the rice noodles big time as well as the sides you put into the soup. The sizes were small and pricy and the service was non existent after they brought you your food. The pot stickers were good and the only think that brought my review from one star to two.

Phở King Good says it all. Being vietnamese, i would consider my moms phở the most authentic and delicious. While away from home this is the only place i can settle my craving. After eating all their dishes i can say, it is all top notch and you cant go wrong with anything on the menu. It is definitely worth chasing down the food truck as well, for it consists of some surprises(pork belly banh mi) you can’t get at the restaurant. Whenever i stop by, it is always great to see Holly and the gang for they make you feel like you are right at home. I LOVE Phở King Good and hold them in the highest standing. –Andre Le

Omg just ate here during our return from the snow and it was really good and hit the spot!!! Just look at the pic of the king sampler. Best garlic wings I’ve ever had in my life and eggrolls were really good as well. Loved that the variety sampler came with both shrimp and chicken spring rolls. We also had beef phở and the lemon grass chicken rice plate and everything was good. Restaurant is clean and has a more modern décor than the typical Phở place. Owners and servers are super friendly and accommodating. A must try and I plan to return every time I’m in the area!

The name says it all. I come here at least once a week. It is definitely my go to spot for lunch in auburn! I order a P2, that is the rare steak phở. It never disappoints. The broth is so good, you can taste the authenticity of the beef bones they use. I have also tried their spring rolls, and the bahn mi fries. Both are great appetizers whenever I have someone joining me for lunch. The only part I would have to complain about it that it is closed on Wednesdays and they only take cards for orders over $ 15.00. So make sure you bring cash!

Hi I am Jerron. I am 11. I am a VERYPICKYEATER! I love this place. My mom could bring me here everyday. My favorite is phở with rare beef on the side, no onion or cilantro in the soup. I also love the chicken wings. My mom orders them every time we come so I get soup and wings. We also love the fresh lemonade. Ph-oooooo King Good is the best! :)

The boyfriend and I were a little skeptical at first prior to dining here for lunch. We were craving phở but found that the most authentic Vietnamese restaurants are found in South Sacramento. Being that this is the ONLY phở restaurant in the Auburn area where we work, we gave it a try and we were impressed. Growing up in a Vietnamese household, phở is a staple dish for my family. I know exactly how phở should taste and my mom has always told me, the first step to good phở is the temperature!~ The broth must be steaming hot that it can clear your sinuses and Phở King Good brought that heat. We came on a cold day, which was even better. The soup warmed us inside-out. The taste is authentic, no doubt about it. You can taste the spices that makes up what phở really is. The rice noodles were cooked just right, not too chewy or soft. Yum! The egg rolls had their own unique twist to it. They are skinnier in width and longer in length to the usual egg rolls everywhere else. Crispy, hot, and delicious. Flavorful as well especially with the sauce. Service is great. The girls are semi-bilingual which makes it great for English-only customers as well as the smaller Vietnamese population in town. This place is just… Phở King Good. :)

I was a little skeptical coming here because of the name, but I am pleasantly surprised. Service was great, food was decent for the area. Not sure when I’ll be back in the area, but if I am, I might stop by. I’d skip the banh mi fries, but phở and bun bo hue were good. PS. They also sell ‘Phở King Good’ tee shirts! Love it!

In all honesty, I feel as though I deserve some sort of an award for not choking whilst inhaling all of my food. No, seriously I found it odd that I could not manage to eat at a respectable speed. Phở King Good? With all due respect, quit lying to people and rename the business: Phở King GREAT. Ordered the Vermicelli with pork and one with chicken and a Thai Iced Tea. Veggies were fresh, the noodles were perfect texture, sauce was on point and the meat pieces were savory and large(twss). Interestingly I preferred the chicken to the pork, see photo. That Thai Tea hit the spot too. Met Holly, who runs the show(and runs it well) she is as sweet as can be. The type of gal you want to tell all of your secrets to, become best friends with and then one night go have a ton of beer together and in a brilliant drunken moment have her suggest calling up Über to take us back to the restaurant to go and get our grub on. We are down the hill and perhaps you are too, well lucky for us they have a food truck that hits up a lot of the local breweries! Phở King WINNING.

My favorite restaurant in Auburn. The staff is friendly and will to explain the dishes. Their veggies are always fresh and crisp. Chicken juicy and cooked to perfection. B1(Bun with chicken uncut) is my go to meal I could eat daily. It is not only delicious but very healthy. They have also turned me onto a new addiction… Vietnamese coffee. OMG this stuff is better than an 8 ball! Chickory Coffee and Sweet Condensed Milk… Yowww! Buzz buzz buzz! I can’t allow myself to have any after 12:00 or I’ll be buzzing at 3am! I know Phở King gets flack for not being a «locally owned» business(they are from Sacramento) but Holly and her husband are invested in Auburn. Their new food truck«No Phở King Way» is already doing community events.

Very good egg rolls and very good phở; both tasted delicious and authentic. Not that I’ve been to Vietnam or anything, but the most legit places I’ve had are in Little Saigon and this place holds up. Minus one star because they have signs on their table proclaiming WECONSERVE! WATERONLYAVAILABLEUPONREQUEST! As soon as we sit down, out come two massive glasses of water. *sadface*

«Phở King Good» — ‘And it was! ‘Sounds like a massage parlor/restaurant… ‘Free BIGBOWL with every massage. Where every ending is a happy one!(Extra fish sauce available upon request.) I was en route to Auburn Honda just down the street & caught a glimpse of the restaurants, forward facing sign, «Phở King Good,» as I passed… ‘And being the mature person that I am, I couldn’t help but chuckle.(‘Reminded me of the SNL comedy sketch, «Sofa King.») — «How great is it… It’s SOFAKINGGREAT!» SNL Sofa King — Phở King Good’s novel name reminded me of another restaurant in SoCal, Phở King Way Noodles & Grill in Lake Forest.(‘Fun name but that’s about it… The food & service were absolutely phở’kn mediocre @ best.) Phở King Way Noodles & Grill — As I drove by, I was curious about Phở King Good… I wondered it was just another so-so, Vietnamese restaurant w/nothing more than a gimmicky name.(Note: It is not.) Unlike the other restaurant previously mentioned, Phở King Good hits on all points. Store Front — I cross referenced Phở King Good on Unilocal*,a strong, 4 ½ Star Rating with 70+ reviews.(That’s good enough for me!) Since I drove all the phở’kn way out here to have my Element serviced and the car was completed at the height of phở’kn rush hour traffic.(Do you see where this is going…) ‘So, in the spirit of things, I just had to phở’kn stop by here! Well, as the saying goes, «When in fuk’n Rome!» I was greeted by a very nice, older gentlemen who directed me to a side table near the window and within minutes he returned with a menu. After browsing the choices, I inquired about the King’s Bowl and the bún bò Hue… The choice was made, bún bò it is! ‘And a Café Sua Da… Photo — Lately, I’ve been on a bún bò Hue kick.(aka bún bò) I was spoiled living in South OC, with Westminster & Garden Grove just a short 30 minute drive north on the 5FWY. ‘As much I was tempted to try the King’s Bowl which was very highly recommended by fellow Unilocal*ers, there’s something about a good bowl of bún bò that hits the spot. ‘Finding a place that serves up bowl of bun bo done properly, slow simmered, and not rushed is hard to come by and Phở King Good knows its stuff! Bun bo Hue — Phở King Good is family owned/operated business which was recently acquired about 5 months ago… ‘And from the positive reviews & the number of to-go orders I saw that night, they’re doing a great job! Sisters, Holly & Phi were awesome, stellar service, checking on me every now & then to see how I everything was going. I’m glad that I stopped here… ‘As I enjoyed my soup, for a brief moment, I felt like I was back in Westminster, enjoying an awesome meal. It was Nice. Thank you Holly & Phi for all the aloha! Holly & Phi — As I was thoroughly enjoying my bún bò Hue, a couple took a seat just behind me. Shortly after being seated, the gentlemen ordered won ton soup… I thought, who the hell comes to a Vietnamese restaurant and orders won ton soup?(Sigh) — «Wrong restaurant, that’s Chinese, Mr. Stephen Hawkings!»(‘AND he was Asian! Mo’fo, phở’aux pas!) That’s like going to Lawry’s Steakhouse and ordering a salad… I almost laughed out loud. I was mid-typing and JUST about to post a humorous FB comment/joke about what I just overheard… ‘BUT, then it happened.(Sigh) Holly walked over to my table: «The next time you’re in the area, you HAVETOTRY our Won Ton Duck Soup.» «Huh…»(What the hell just happened?) HUGESLAP to the back of my head…(Insert cartoon spinning sound here) ‘Followed by a brief awkward silence on my part. ‘After my head stopped spinning, I quietly canceled my FB update that I was just seconds away from posting… — «Hmph, well there you go… ‘Won ton soup.»(Oh, how quickly the genius table had flipped.) — «The next time I go to a high end, premium steakhouse, I’m having a salad!» The Won Ton Duck Soup is apparently one of Phở King Way’s specialty house dishes… ‘Wish this place was closer to me!(Well, maybe it’s a good thing it’s not to close. It could quickly become a dangerous habit if it was… ‘A gluttonous one to be more precise.) Mahalo nui loa to Phi & Holly for everything! ‘Keep up the great work! ‘And if I make it back to the area, «Won Ton Duck Soup it is!» It’s all«Phở King Good» in the hood!(True story.) — Big Aloha!
