MV Automotive is Top Notch. I’ve been bringing my cars here for a couple years now and the service and knowledge that this company provides is excellent. Peter, is extremely helpful and accomodating. I would not take my car anywhere else.
For the one star review of this place… I would ignore everything she wrote because that is not what this shop is about. Just look at all the great reviews. The staff here has always been helpful and courteous and timely with taking car of any repair. Some people have unrealistic expectations and will never be satisfied…

These guys are unbelievable, in the best way possible. Good humans, and good mechanics too. I broke down in Auburn after fighting a sleet storm over the summit. On a Monday. With a full shop ahead of me. But Pete and Leslie took me right in, and Brittany made me tea. Pete spent over an hour in between scheduled work to diagnose my problem, which he did quickly, covering my engine codes, plugs and wires until he narrowed it to the fuel injector on my fifth cylinder. I wanted to get back to SF, so I schedule a flatbed to drive me, but Pete wouldn’t let me pay. Not a dollar. I had told him I’d cover his time, but nope, all he wanted was a handshake. If everyone in Petaluma is as kind as this family, and it seems many are, I’m inclined to visit more often, maybe even move. That good.

If I could give this place no stars I would. I don’t understand how this place got recommended to us. Worst service. Has had our car for almost 6 months. Still not fixed. Never calls to update us. I’m seriously surprised this joke of a place is still in business. Worst customer service. I will never ever recommend this place to anyone. I just want my car, take it to someone who actually has a brain to fix it. I’m so tired of this crap of getting ripped off. Seriously is anyone honest anymore? Wtf is wrong with people? Makes me sick. I can’t stand shady people. Seriously do yourself a favor don’t take your car to this place, unless you don’t care about getting f-​Ed over. Sincerely pissed off.

I called asking about a funny noise my car was making. Pete told me to come in first thing. He came out and listened to my car and took me in his shop to explain to me what was happening. Most of the cars in his shop are newer euros. I drive an old Mercedes, and still he knew exactly how the vacuum pump worked. Meritage Motors had been unwilling even to come outside & listen to the noise the car was making. Pete said he would be glad for the work but encouraged me to fix it myself if I felt confident enough. This is my favorite kind of mechanic. He wants people on the road with working cars. I will definitely go back. This is a trustworthy, knowledgeable shop.

I agree with all of the 5 Star reviews! The check engine light on my 2003 Volvo S40 came on last Thursday and I did a Google search to find a nearby service place. I struck gold! When I phoned in a bit of a panic, Brittany listened empathetically, consulted with Peter and told me to bring it right in. Peter drove me to nearby downtown Auburn so I could have lunch while I waited. He phoned within 30 minutes to explain the nature of the problem, provided an estimate for time and cost of repairs and replaced the coolant temperature sensor and thermostat within 2 hours and under the estimate :-) Superb professionalism, integrity, and competence. I’ll definitely return !!

I was driving home from the gym when I noticed a strange noise followed by my car not driving well. Luckily I was driving I am a 23 year old girl who has had multiple flat tires and decided I was going to change it myself. That was until I realized I have only seen tires changed on my Toyota and had no idea where to start with my 1998 BMW. Long story short the sweetest man ever pulled over to help me and knew all the tricks to a BMW. He told me my alignment was terrible and my other tire was about to blow and I had maybe 5 miles to get it where it needed to go. The place my aunt used to take it to was in Roseville and there was no way I would make it there. That’s when he told me about M V Automotive and how it is the only place he brings his cars. They specialize in German and Swedish cars but I believe they work on all cars. I brought my car in and was terrified to hear what I was going to have to pay. I just had my hours cut at work and my medical bills break the bank. I told him I was really concerned about money but I needed the car to get to work. He said they were packed the whole week but he had some time the following day. That wouldn’t work because I had to work the next day and live 20 miles away. He kindly said he would find a way to squeeze me in and have it done by the end of the day. Sooner rather than later he called me and told me exactly what was wrong. I needed a front and rear alignment as well as two new front tires. The front and rear alignment cost $ 125 and he said his wife would call around to see the best deal I could get for tires. I called around as well and they were able to find me tires $ 50 less than what I had found. I believe the two new front tires cost $ 110 and I went and picked them up and brought them to the shop so they could install them. By the time I ran to Target and had lunch they were calling me telling me my car was ready. The owner and his wife are truly the most kind people I have ever met especially in that business. I can honestly say I trust what they say and I have never felt that way about a mechanic in my life. I would absolutely refer anyone to this company.

Excellent work and excellent customer service. MV Automotive has shown itself to have tremendous integrity. Peter is a highly skilled mechanic. I would trust them with my car completely. I have an old Volvo with many problems and Peter does his best to keep it running for reasonable costs that I can afford. MV Automotive is the most honest auto shop I have ever experienced.

Honest mechanic! And that is an unusual thing to say in my experience. I am a new customer and I feel like I have never gotten service like this in my life. I always have been skeptical about repairs needed to my car.

My Mercedes Benz 500 SL needed some work I dropped it off with Pete. He was able to fix the leak, align the car, and repair the chrome custom wheel. The car drives like it was new. I am thrilled by their work.

A great auto shop with Honest people. Pete always lets you know what all your options are and how much each repair option will cost you. He also takes the time to explain things to you if you don’t know much about cars.
He has worked on multiple cars in our family and we have had NO problems or issues with the repair work from this shop.

I have entrusted Pete with my Volvo, BMW and Honda over the years with full confidence and trust. If you are looking for an honest and professional mechanic, look no further!

I can’t say enough good things about Pete and Leslie. They work on all my cars — i would never trust anyone else. I’ve even had Pete call me on a saturday, when he was off work, just to make sure the car was working ok! They are the kindest people, with the cleanest shop and the best knowledge of cars ANYWHERE.
I figure our cars are important and should have the best care possible: I’m basically trusting my mechanic with my life, and the lives of my family. So, we go to Pete. It’s that simple.

I had Pete take a look at a used Volvo I was considering buying. Though he was booked, he made an exception to see me the following day (I live in the Bay Area). Although he charged a flat fee, it looks like he spent a couple of hours going through it wiih a fine-​toothed comb. He gave me a very detailed write out covering everything from suspension issues to missing cup holder top. He scanned me the doc and emailed it to me so I could have it in time for my face to face with the seller. I was extremely impressed, needless to say and would recommend this shop to anyone who has any automotive concerns about where to find a thorough and top notch mechanic.

Pete provides excellent service on our two Volvos (a 2000 S80 T5 and a 1993 940 wagon). He makes an extra effort to check all systems and advise uson anything that requires my attention. He’s a reliable, honest mechanic who keeps our cars running smoothly.
