A mixed pot in terms of identity, but the food was good and our server was great. We ate early so it was pretty empty. Decent kids menu & my husband LOVED his chicken fried steak.

We had an excellent experience here. Our server, Sierra, was warm, prompt and very helpful. The food was delicious, creative and the carrot cake was everything folks say it is! We ate upstairs and everything was spotless. At the end of our evening, the owner, Michael, asked us how everything was and took time to explain the history behind his famous carrot cake(tribute to his mother). While the prices are reasonable for type of meal, its«special occasion» category for us so we’ll go back as often as special occasions allow. Please consider this place for your next dining experience in Auburn.

Last Friday night we had our Holiday Party for 20 people. I can’t say enough good things about how it went. The restaurant is so decorated in Christmas that the atmosphere was truly holiday festive! The food was wonderful and huge portions! The staff was awesome, very willing to do whatever was needed. The were kind, thoughtful, I could put the party in their hands with no problems. You would think with a group of 20 there would be a hiccup or 2 but none I could see. The owner Michael came to me first thing to ask if anything was needed and he was there to help the whole evening. Look forward to coming back for dinner and next years Holiday party as well.

Prime rib and tomato soup were great but please stay away from the fish and chips, they are not either on several different fronts.

At first glance you wouldn’t realize what this place is with the strange décor… we literally had a tissue paper ghost floating over our heads the entire meal. It did take a while before anyone noticed we were at the counter but the food was ok. My steak was cooked well and my family liked their plates and carrot soup. Portions are generous so you’ll have left overs. We didn’t have dessert but that carrot cake another table got was enormous. The menu itself is in dire need of a graphic designer to streamline it so that it no longer resembles a student book report… so large. Service was ok but the man seemed a bit overwhelmed as his normal waitress wasn’t there. You definitely won’t have to worry about it being too crowded as we were like the third table to be served. It was pretty empty.

This is in the old Latitudes Restaurant, across from the courthouse, on the bottom floor & basement bar of a converted Victorian. «Perfectly cooked» came up a lot in our discussion of our meal here. We arrived when they opened, we were the only ones there. Service was outstanding. They clearly know how to cook meat and vegetables to perfection. The vibe is a bit confusing, friendly and attentive staff on a mom and pop level, but the décor is a bit off for that vibe… More like a tea house. Food plating is not refined but the quality of the food is. My plate of Apricot Chicken had entirely too much sauce. His prime rib… Will bring us back. The chef brought us samples, and he checked on us twice. The stuffed mushroom appetizer was heavy handed on sausage. They could work on the ratio it was basically an Italian meatball with jalapeños, squishing a mushroom. When I think of stuffed mushrooms, it’s about the mushrooms. They are not skimping on the quality or portions of the food, or anything, some kinks to work out but overall a pleasant experience and we will be back and bring our big family along with us(and pray that they have the carrot cake!!) we both agreed we could easily go here just for coffee & carrot cake based on that tasty treat alone!

Wednesday, 9÷30÷15, I had dinner here, for the 4th time, and was pleasantly surprised, as it was one of the best meals I’ve EVER had, anywhere! When they first opened I wasn’t real happy with my first meal there, but, WOW, what an improvement. O.K., here’s what happened. First, I had their turkey soup, and it was delicious. My dinner consisted of the Top Sirloin steak, with onions and mushrooms smothered on top, baked potato, with all the trimmings, and vegetables. Now, this is the truth, — –one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten in a restaurant; cooked PERFECTLY to my request,(I like it «pink» inside). The baked potato was, again, perfectly prepared, and just DELICIOUS. The steamed vegetables were VERY tasty, surprisingly so, as steamed vegies can often be quite bland. I tried their house Merlot,($ 5.00/glass), not expecting much, as the price was so reasonable, and it was sooo good, that I had a second glass, which I seldom do — –! No room for deserts, as the portions of food were almost too much for my stomach, but, sooooo good that I was a good boy and ate it ALL — -. Left STUFFED, but happy — –. Anxious to return with family and friends. Had a short conversation with one of the owners, Mike, and later with the chef, complimenting them on what was an EXCELLENT dining experience — –.

No, this is not high falutin. What it is, is really good food, in a comfortable atmosphere. In your shorts and flip flops? Not a problem. The salads are crisp and have a scattering of the lightest crispiest croutons I’ve ever had. Tonight was my first experience with catfish. It was delicate and delicious by itself, but the Cajun sauce made it magical. The steamed veg is worthy of its own meal! And the(s)mashed potatoes are perfectly seasoned, perfectly lumpy. Carrot cake is to go… we’re both too stuffed to try it now. But soon!!!

So I finally got the chance to try Meat & Potatoes and sad to say it was just ok. I thought the layout was a bit odd, stairs going down to the bar area are very steep, so be careful, not really suitable for the elderly nor anyone with difficulties. The waitress while very nice made several mistakes regarding our order and forgot items more than a few times. I had Sea Bass, at least that’s what it was suppose to be but it wasn’t like the Sea Bass I’ve had before, and it was cooked too long, the steamed veggies were tasty. I doubt very much that I will return, it’s on the boring side, service is mediocre and the food… I could have saved myself $ 18 and cooked a nice piece of fish at home including steamed veggies and a crisp salad with homemade dressing for a lot less.

I wanted to like this place and expected a home cooking style menu but instead I was almost confused with what the restaurant direction really was… The menu is very wordy with fancy writing high prices and fancy tablecloths like a high end restaurant yet the meals are not so fancy or taste or in appearance. Very greasy, salty and the oil in the fried items tasted old and very fishy flavor. Service is a bit slow on refills or needs as well although r very friendly but I don’t like how they run your card right at your table so your put on the spot to tip in front of server. Sorry meat n potatoes but it just wasn’t much more than a basic trucker rest stop food.

We were very pleasantly surprised with how good the food was and had excellent service. Everyone ordered the form of mushroom appetizer and nearly everyone ordered something different for dinner. Hands-down the stuffed mushrooms were fabulous and a favorite although the fried mushrooms and sautéed mushrooms were very good as well. I opted for the prime rib which was cooked to perfection(rare). Hubby opted for the apricot chicken but she really enjoyed… It was moist and well-the apricot glaze balanced with a bit of spice. Our friends ordered the fish and chips, the pork loin, and a sirloin steak and everybody was very happy with their meals! and the desserts, oh my, the desserts! Fabulous carrot cake and a fabulous chocolate brownie sundae but each one can feed about four people! Jerry, our waitress was fabulous… But she always is!(We’ve followed her around area restaurants for years!)

I’m a Southerner and I’m a catfish snob. I’ve found my fix. It’s so good, and really thick, too, plus a house made dipping sauce that is excellent. My fiancé had the ribeye and it was also really good! You’ve gotta come!

This is currently probably the best restaurant in Auburn. I don’t understand the poor reviews. I thought the food was absolutely excellent. I met two friends from Davis and Lodi here. They are people who eat in the best restaurants and had heard that this was a good restaurant. I read the reviews and was very nervous about meeting them there for dinner. I had the chef salad which was truly excellent, one friend had the fish which he said was also perfectly prepared and delicious and my other friend picked the chicken-fried steak which she said was perfect. I’m going back to this restaurant and taking other friends. Also I am recommending it to everyone I know.

Tasty and tender. A short menu allows for great quality food. The service was friendly and attentive. Added bonus, the parking was way better than immediately in town. Fresh steamed veggies held their color. Highly recommend the sautéed shrimp appetizer. Large portions!

I am sad to see that their reviews aren’t great bc I think they are doing a great job! We came here for my mom’s bday dinner on a Friday. We had reservations for 5, and they had saved us a round table in a little alcove with a window, so it was a little private and had a view. Our server, Jeri, was very sweet and knew the menu well. She had great wine recommendations; I wanted a chard, and she was able to give me a glass of a special one usually only by the bottle. Most of us got the prime rib, which was great, huge portions and delish. Also, dinners come w soup or salad and the salad had spinach in it, which makes it automatically better. My bf got the onion rings; they were very good. Nice and crispy. I wasn’t too crazy about the stuffed mushrooms, but everything else was spot on. The prices are insanely reasonable. Our dinner for 5 was barely over $ 100 with several glasses of beer and wine. And prime rib! The owner(who was working as head chef that night) came to ask how everything was. Nice people and good food. I definitely recommend.

I went back the next day, for some«meat and potatoes.» This time, I decided to try the«Hot Roast Beef Sandwich with Mashed Potatoes.» (You can see where I’m going with this) Note that I *could* have been a glutton and gone for the Grand Opening Special a second time… Happy to report that the Roast Beef is very tender, and lean. Mashed potatoes are amazing, probably superior to the ones I make at home. Gravy is really outstanding, like really good diner gravy. Come to think of it – the plate reminded me of «Comfort Food» or «Diner Food.» That is not a bad thing. Sometimes you just crave some«meat and potatoes» and this establishment is going to satisfy that craving. Not gourmet or trendy, this is the kind of meal you want on a cold stormy day when your power goes out. Note that our power has not gone out(yet) — but I’m actually hoping that it does, so I have an excuse to come back here a third day in a row… muahahaha

Formerly Lattitudes, now called Meat and Potatoes!!! Went there today with my mom and had«the Best Brunch… and for the record… Best Carrot Cake EVER!!! Can’t wait to go back. Grand Opening is tomorrow/Sunday. Such fantastic home-fries and omelettes.
