Probably one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! Their burgers are pretty big(one of my friends had to cut it in half to eat it!) and the patty was really juicy. I had the California burger which had pepper jack cheese, bacon and avocado, and fried pickles as a side. They also give you an option to choose a sauce for the side you order. The special sauce they put on all of their burgers made the juicy burger that much better. I’m definitely coming back again when I get the chance to!

My son introduced me to this fabulous burger place tonight. I have been looking for a place that had fresh hamburger and fresh ingredients to go with it and I found it tonight. Holy crap what a Fantastic burger! I ordered the California Burger. It was huge — big fresh very tasty patty, lots of bacon, avocado, tomato, lettuce, and a great house sauce. My son and his friends have tried about everything on the menu and they say is all really good. My son had the cardiac trail burger which I want to get on my next visit. The fries and onion rings are really yummy too. I can’t wait to go back soon.

Great tasting burger with a bun that holds up to the juicy patty and any topics you may get. The onion rings are thick with a light fluffy batter. Plus they have some brews on tap and microbrews served in the bottle. No chilled glasses to pour them in but decent variety.

Love the food! Wish we had one on the other end of town. Their burgers are wonderful. I love that they have alternative choices to beef.

I was passing through Auburn on the way back from out of town and I was really craving a burger. We walked in and the guys working were super nice and friendly. I ordered a black bean burger and I’ve had a few before from different places, all just okay. But this one was great!!! Fresh and I’m really glad I chose Local Heroes.

Excellent, delicious burgers! I’d drive to California just to eat here! Great staff, great service! Loved it! They have great gluten free buns and options too! Side items are fried in same oil so side items are NOT gluten free but the burgers are awesome! I had the Roper which has smoked goat cheese and bacon! Mmmm!

If you want a fast, fresh and a delicious burger and fries this is the place. Service was friendly and our meal was inexpensive. They have vegetarian options and plenty of seating. Try the ghost pepper cheese if you like spice. Enjoy

These burgers were the best we’ve had in a long long time. Small place, but friendly crew and great flavors! I highly recommend it if you’re looking for lunch in the area. It’s right off of the I-80, so even if you’re driving into or out of California/Nevada, it’s a great stop! We will go again :)

Make no mistake, Local Heroes is a dive, but a great dive. A lot of «nicer» restaurants spend a ton of money trying to be divey in the same way, and fail completely. So Kudos to you Local Heroes! BURGER: The burger meat itself is pretty poor quality, but it’s well-seasoned and when slapped inside a fresh, soft bun with some tangy house dressing it goes down smooth. Cheese is American rather than cheddar. The burger is definitely on the«wet» side, but this is a good thing. Real comfort fare and you will leave with a full stomach. SHAKES: Very good shakes and malts, but now jaw-dropping. Kind of expensive for the portion size. PRICE: Excellent prices. One of those joints where you just buy the burger, then pay extra for fries and sides. We ate like a family of fat bandits and came out maybe $ 16 the poorer. OTRASCOSAS: The fries were pretty bad. Really cheap, mealy and undercooked; like the fryer wasn’t at a high enough temp. Ketchup and mustard is rationed out in tiny paper cups by the counter-staff, which is one of my biggest pet peeves and the mark of a distressed neighborhood. I have no doubt people would steal the ketchup dispensers here, or otherwise come in just to drink their fill. Service was very friendly. The décor and atmosphere was a little sad, but in a charming divey way and the theme of «local heroes» was present in photos of firefighters, motocross racers etc. Apparently, Auburn is the«endurance sports» capitol of the world so it is well-played.

Got a distinct«You are a stranger in these parts» vibe. The staff did not seem exactly bowled over to see us or that we were going to give them money. So-so hamburger. Shake OK. Not a bad little joint. But nothing really special, food-wise.

Stopped here on the way back to the Bay Area, and very happy we did so. The two people working(young man and woman) were very friendly, and the food came out quickly. Also, the food was great and the prices weren’t too bad. Burgers, Fries, Beer(good choices too), Milkshakes, Ample Parking right off the freeway… what’s not to like?

This place had good reviews si we thought we try it since we were in the area. The place is a ok. Im giving it 3 stars cause the hamburger was good, but the French fries could use some help. The service is not very friendly and it took forever to get our order.

Delicious. They have a great specials list, and their basic menu is fantastic too. I like all of their burger types(beef, turkey, garden, black bean) and they have brioche and whole wheat buns. The mushrooms are GREAT, so I highly recommend adding those, and the chili is great if you’re willing to have a very messy meal. Above all else, I love the sweet potato fries. I think they’re previously frozen, but trust me, they are delicious. Also, the employees are not always certain of the ingredients in their products, so if you have an allergy and need to ask, be prepared for it to take a minute for them to look it up. They’re always crazy nice about it and apologetic whenever there’s a delay. Great food, good craft beer selection, friendly service. Definitely worth a trip.

We’ve been loyal customers ever since they opened. Their hamburgers are very tasty — from the meat, to the bun, and even the vegetables. We also enjoy their milkshakes and their yummy mac & cheese bites. Do avoid coming in at lunch time during school days — it’s a zoo!

This IS a tasty burger. We found this on Unilocal while on the way from Incline Village to San Francisco and thought Auburn would be a good rest spot. Our first impression was of a very friendly woman who upon greeting us pointed out the specials. We skipped the specials and stuck to the menu. I had the, «California» and so should you. This was great! All the extra stuff(Avocado, tomato, was perfect as my picture shows. The aioli or «special sauce» was excellent! Damn son, this went so well with this burger. This sauce is what put the burger over the top for me and guaranteed that next time I pass through Auburn I will be back! On a side note, for those that are food snobs, this is not a beef from a hand fed calf that comes with a birth certificate. It’s just good beef cooked well.

After a long long day the bad part of my brain wanted burger and the good part of my brain was powerless to stop it. This place is a cool local spot. They have multiple articles on local people and photos of Placer High sports legends. I am a sucker for that stuff. Burger is the specialty of the house. They have about 10 different specialty burgers and I am sorry that I didn’t photograph the choices. I selected the«A-Town». It came with Bacon, grilled red onion and a generous amount of American. There was of course LTP. A beautiful Brioche bun cradled the burger. The burger was a bit underseasoned and cooked to well. You are not given a choice on cooking temperature. Overall, a pretty dang good experience and I hope you will support this local little gem.
