Great atmosphere. Enjoyed the tamales and my steak. I thought it was on the over seasoned side, was a good cut and well cooked. Good beer selection and whiskey section. Good service, the girl at the bar was very helpful to those around me whom asked her questions.

Wonderful food and great atmosphere… We try to eat here every time we are in town! I Highly recommend it. My family always gets the charcuterie platter which is very tasty! This trip I got the King Salmon which was served with fresh turnips.(The picture I posted). The wait staff is very knowledgeable about the food and wine which makes for a very pleasant dining experience.

I always choose this restaurant when my mom comes to visit with our dog. We call ahead to let them know, and they have a place on the patio ready for us. They even set up a water bowl for my dog. The food is delicious, and the menu is easy to navigate for someone with a gluten intolerance, like myself. I highly recommend the salmon salad and grilled boozer farm peaches. Both are mouthwatering!

We went to Acre on my College son’s recommendation. I had no idea what to expect. Was pleasantly surprised. Décor and ambience are lovely. Service was fast and our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu. I was a little disappointed that there were not a few healthier or less ‘heavy’ options on the menu which may be just me as I am not very familiar with Southern fare. We started with the Goat Cheese Guacamole — made to order… Yum!, which is served with deep fried paprika chips which were nice, but were too oily and rich, but tasted great with the bread board. I had the Chandeleur Gumbo starter as my main which was the perfect portion size. My athlete son had the Salmon and he left feeling full! The restaurant was busy but we never felt rushed by our waiter to move on with each course so he could ‘turn the table over’. We had a leisurely and very nice dinner together. Would def. go again, and after looking around to see what other people were ordering think I will try the Supper Sampler dish as a started to share with the table. Price point OK. Was surprised to see Valet service…

You know a place is popular in Auburn when you walk in, and you overhear the hostess tell a couple the wait will be 30 – 40 minutes at 11:45AM on Sunday. And you see a woman complain to a manager the about the wait. All I can say is thank goodness for OpenTable. When you drive into the adjacent parking lot, you come across one of the worst sights you can eyeball, and that is valet parking in Auburn. Wha??? I’m perfectly capable of parking my car myself. In Auburn. Thumbs down to that. Valet successfully avoided by the glory that is street parking, we were seated in a sunny though a teensy bit drafty sunroom(it was a chilly day). The giant wall of windows provided a view of the veggie gardens outside. And some large trucks. Our server looked to be a college student, and he was very genial and attentive, though he did serve J sweet tea while she asked for unsweet. That may not have been his fault though. J got the«Garden & Gun» grilled cheese sandwich($ 12), and I decided to give the original brisket burger($ 12) a shot. A lot of the menu items did feature brisket. We did notice that for brunch, there was no pancake option. And no Benedict either. Oh well. Acre’s signature burger comes with arugula, pecan-smoked bacon, white cheddar, and charcoal onion jam. I had ordered my burger medium and it was a little more on the well side. The fries were crispy and satisfying. The burger was hefty, and my favorite aspect was surprisingly the onion jam. Since I’m a raw onion fan so I thought I would miss them but not so much. I read on the Acre website that the restaurant collaborates with Auburn University’s Meat Lab and the School of Agriculture which is pretty neat. J really liked her massive grilled cheese; I had a bite and was pleased too. The tomato soup looked perfect for a cold winter day. The server boxed up the leftovers which was a nice touch though Acre’s usage of Styrofoam as the vessel could be improved. We skipped dessert since we were too stuffed. The dessert menu was wrapped around the check, and I thought $ 8 – 9 was a little steep for dessert, but hey, I wasn’t getting it. Bathrooms were close to the kitchen/bar area. The two stalls in the women’s were clean, and I liked the wooden stall doors that reminded me of a barn. Recommendation: If you want to dip your toe into Acre, make a reservation and try brunch/lunch out first before taking the plunge into dinner. Much more wallet-friendly. Looking forward to trying more menu offerings in the future!

Our favorite place in town. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! Burger night on Tuesdays is great. They also have a great brunch menu. The chicken and waffles is great. Also, don’t skip dessert!

Still the best in town. My husband and I dine here for EVERY special occasion and then some. This update is dedicated to Tuesday night Burger Night. They are the best burgers in town — all of them. See, Auburn has this burger«monopoly» price where most burger prices range from $ 9 – 13. Exceptions being drive thrus, five guys, cheeburger, burgerfi(debatable), and the like. Acre burger night has $ 11 ½ lb gourmet burgers & fries and $ 2 pbr tall boys. You can get the same price but not as tasty as acre burgers at locos, niffers, the hound, mugshots, outback… Get my point? Those places are just fine, but if you’re craving a burger on a Tuesday, go to Acre. Goodbye.

The food is amazing. Had the grouper which was fantastic. My wife had the tuna which was amazing. The real winner of the night was the desert. You must try the bread pudding. I was unsure but the waiter insisted that I should try it. He said it will make you laugh it is so good. He was dead on the money.

First time here. I’m from Atlanta where there are tons of season restaurants, so it was great to be able to come to Auburn and have one of these gems. The layout /atmosphere was really cool(think cabin /lodge). The drinks were great, I got the Acre Mule. The food was phenomenal, I got the Tenderloin steak, which comes covered with a creamy mashed potato and potato crisp topping. One of those melt in your mouth steaks.(The server said it won some award, which is believable.) We also got the Charcuterie plate which had a sampling of cheeses, meats, and pickled poems Items. Not super amazing, but points for interesting. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a nicer spot in Auburn.

Everything about this place is fantastic! We went in for lunch in a non-game day Saturday. We had the«chicken fried» bacon appetizer and I’ve never had anything like it before. The Parmesan fries were great too. I had the strawberry candied-walnut salad with shrimp and my husband had the brisket plate. Both were delicious and perfectly cooked. For dessert, I recommend the bread pudding. So amazing! But 1 was enough for both of us. If you’re in Auburn, this place is a must try. Our server, Chris, was attentive and knowledgable. We will definitely be back.

I’ve been here a few times and I’ve been disappointed every time, which is a shame. I try really hard to like their food but it just seems bland to me. I feel like a little salt would go a long way for their food. I’ve gone for brunch and gotten their chicken and waffles. The chicken just did not have the saltiness nor savoriness to compliment the sweetness of the syrup for the waffle. I’ve gone for lunch and their fried green tomatoes are nothing to rave about, the fish tacos are weak, and the Korean fried chicken should take major notes from Naruto Café over by Smoothie King. I’ve also gotten their fried chicken sandwich that was supposed to come out with their hot sauce. Again, a bland sandwich that I probably could’ve made better at home. I’m going to give this place one more try because I love its atmosphere and their commitment to local foods.

I have been to Acre twice now while traveling to Auburn. Both times, it was wonderful! My coworkers and I went last night after being on our feet and talking for four hours straight at the career expo. Needless to say, we wanted a cocktail before dinner! I looked over the menu and was disappointed that I didn’t see the drink I had ordered the first time I had been. I was describing it to my friend, but couldn’t remember the name. Our served heard my description and said, «you mean the bee sting? I can make you one.» Yes! Yummy drink made with citrus vodka, St. Germaine, and honey. Ask for it, if it’s not on the menu! Next we ordered the pimento cheese(fabulous) and the butcher’s board. The house made charcuterie is really good. And I don’t know what the put in that pimento cheese and pita chips, but it is divine! For our entrées, three of us got the teres major with sweet potatoes and a boiled peanut romesco. This was outstanding! I had never had this cut of meat, but it was tender and delicious. The preparation was smoked and then seared served medium rare. Very yummy. The fourth in our group got the duck breast with goat cheese risotto and marinated pears. I’m a sucker for sides, and it was hard for me to turn this one down, but I want to try the beef. We were all very pleased with our food. Then it was time for dessert. We were warned that the corn cobbler took 20 minutes to prepare, but I was too intrigued not to get it! This was similar to a sweet corn pudding served in it’s own cast iron skillet. It was topped with a jammy blackberry sauce and fresh blackberries along with a scoop of salted vanilla ice cream. It was piping hot when it came to the table and I had to be patient because I didn’t want to burn my tongue and ruin the experience! So glad I waited, because it was delicious! I also had a taste of the sweet potato bread pudding, and it was really good, too! I have had two excellent meals at Acre and I can’t wait until I’m back in Auburn so that I can make it three!

Acre was amazing from start to finish. We were there as part of a visiting school group of elementary students. Acre went out of their way to make our kids feel at home. Chef David and his staff showed our students around the farm and invited them to try the begonias and the fresh mint. We had a special dinner menu that was both kid-friendly and appealing to adults(not an easy feat!) The starters were fantastic: pimento cheese and smoked paprika chips were delicious and fresh and the shrimp and grits were fantastic! For dinner we shared family style boards of chicken and waffles(YUM!) and duck sausage corn dogs. The highlight of the meal for me were the shared sides or cast iron mac and cheese and the creamed corn. The mac was far above average and the creamed corn was to die for… so much fresh corn flavor packed into each bite. Can’t wait until I get back down to the Plains again!

This place is a bit pompous about their service and very long winded discription of how the food was grown on site by the road. How everything was seasonal vegetables. When my wife asked about 2 of the vegetables on the menu being out of season locally the waiter stated that it was a misprint We were seated by 7:30 and the 1st4 things we ordered were sold out. So after going through half the menu not avilable I settled on the Teres Major because of the picture in Unilocal. When it came to the table it was a sad looking plate compaired to the picture. When we asked the waiter why there was so little meat and a very different from the picture he stated that was how it was pepaired last month. Maybe they where running out of steak & local vegetables. Because of the limited menue items my wife ordered a small plate starter. Then the waiter told us it was the last night he was working he and started pushing desert hard. We didn’t want to be disappointed by our choices also sold out so we called it a night. Im sure they have better nights but this was not a good one for us

Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here. Pimento cheese was above average, but the pita chips were awesome. For my entrée, I had the Mississippi catfish tacos — amazing. The slaw in then was super fresh, and the salsa had just enough kick. My portions and the ones I saw on nearby tables were generous. The atmosphere is contemporary and sleek. Can’t wait to visit again.

AMAZING! Auburn is really getting some fantastic restaurants lately and Acre is one of them! I had a wonderful birthday dinner with very special friends here and absolutely loved every minute of it. First up was a few minute wait at the bar while our table was being set. The bar area has a comfy bar to stand or sit at, and an awesome setting of sofas and chairs to make your wait more relaxing! Great bar with awesome craft cocktails, I might add. After looking at the list and not being able to decide, I settled for the vodka martini, told them i wanted it «skating» and they absolutely knew what it meant and brought me a perfect drink. LOVEDIT. They’ve got a nice selection of hipster beers as well. Then it was off to dinner. For starters, the menu is super cool. We chose the«butchers block» charcuterie /cheese plate because I was apparently going to dry every damn thing on their menu! It was fabulous and beautifully presented. We opted for all southern cheeses because we have some darn good cheese makers here these days(asher blue, thomasville tomme, belle chevre goat … all wonderful). We also had David’s AL tamales, cauliflower risotto, hot house fried green tomato stack — which are prepared with a pimento cheese layer in between them and also blue crab, OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD., then we all had salads(roasted beet salad wins my love). For dinner, we had the snapper, which came with this really tasty collard green gazpacho, the swordfish, which was served with crawfish and a really tasty red pepper carrot slaw, the black belt Bibimbap with the«acre» hot sauce(that we had to come home with a jar of along with explicit instructions on how to re-create this dish by the chef, i might add!) extra collards(of COURSE we had to have extra collards!) and a side of gouda grits. I have no idea where we put all the food! The wine selection is perfect. Great choices of both new and old world wines — and I love that they set them up that way — many restaurants lump them all together and for the wine drinker who doesn’t know all the ins and outs of the wines, that can be confusing. This presentation makes it a lot easier to «digest». I also didn’t feel like I was getting taken to the slaughter house on the prices, which was quite refreshing and will make me want to go back and try other wines from their selection instead of bringing my own bottle(which I so often choose to do). Stephen Pierce deserves the kudos for that list — WELLDONE, sir! This place is wonderful. One of the best meals I have had in a long time. It’s a great location. The building is beautiful and rather well appointed. It’s comfortable. It’s upscale, yet homey feeling — I felt like I would have felt great in a sparkly dress or jeans and heels. The service was good. The menu choices were outstanding. I love that the care taken in preparing locally grown and raised food. David Bancroft works with the Auburn University meat lab to ensure that they are serving«responsibly raised» meats. I mean, seriously? Who does that!?! Who takes that much pride in their food? Can’t wait for my summer-time visit to see what the seasonally constructed menu has in store.

This is my second time at Acre. The first time is when I dropped off my daughter for college. This time we are celebrating a graduation. Today is a Mother’s Day brunch with chicken, waffles, prime rib, and sides. The service is excellent and the food is delicious. Although I won’t be graduating any more kids from college this place may be with the trip anyway.,

Awesome food and we loved the charcuterie so much! The prices are relatively cheaper compared to a big city like Atlanta or Houston… the food was fantastic though! I would definitely recommend, probably the top restaurant in Auburn… classy, good drinks and delicious food!

There were too many flaws with our dishes to justify the high price tag per plate, and thus my 3-star review. I know tons of places in Atlanta that have similar prices, but better execution and service, and I can justify paying $ 20+ for a steak meal there versus Acre. We came in after a game to thaw and to get some decent food. The wait was already long(2+ hours for a table; guess you need reservations), and we managed to snag some seats at the bar. Naturally, we waited there for a long time before getting served because the bar was overcrowded with people ordering drinks and waiting on a spot to open up. Because I was borderline hangry, we ordered pimento cheese served with smoked paprika chips. The chips were really good, and complimented the cheese well. But, they broke off too easily when dipping them. Their cheese-to-chip ratio is also off, so we had to get another serving(on the house, thankfully). And, the cheese wasn’t anything special, either. I’ve definitely had better. Boyfriend wanted the jalapeño poppers, and they weren’t traditional poppers. They were balls of shredded jalapeño with other stuff, and weren’t spicy at all. I’m a spicy food wimp and generally stay away from jalapenos because they’re over my threshold. However, I could eat these, especially with the sweet sauce they were served over. We split the steak entrée, in part because it was like $ 23, and were expecting something more than what we got. It was a nicely plated dish: cubed sweet potatoes with sliced steak on top, and topped with a little«brick» of collards and something else that I can’t remember. We were expecting more food for the money, but an actual side of collards to offset some of the junk we’d eaten all day. Although the flavors were good, we were overall disappointed. To add to the letdown, the food wasn’t cooked evenly. Some potatoes were cold, others hot(usually under the steak tower), others were cooked properly and others under-cooked in addition to the temperature difference. The steak didn’t have a lot of flavor, despite being labeled as «butt rubbed», whatever that means. However, they do have a really cool ambiance. The place feels very country-homey, and laid back with the servers in collared shirts and jeans. I can definitely see the curb appeal, but that’s where it stopped for us. Overall, I think this place sticks out like a sore thumb in the Auburn/Opelika area. I’m not sure how they do business outside of game days(parents weekend?), unless they offer half price food most days of the week. I recall seeing a specials menu, but don’t remember what all was on it. Basically, I don’t know how college kids pay for this food routinely. I surely couldn’t while I was a student.

I really, really wanted to like this place, but Acre is honestly way overrated. I was asked why I didn’t review it, and my immediate reply was«well because it sucked.» I was then countered with«okay isn’t that the point of Unilocal?» So here you are– I hated it. Sure, it’s cute driving up and getting complementary valet, but once inside, things went south. I feel anyone can cook better than what was served out to me that evening. I ordered the steak dinner and my entrée came out burnt(though I ordered a medium cooked steak). The menu is certainly overpriced. The seating arrangement is terrible if you get seated on the side where there is the bar. I got placed at a table with my chair as a huge, awkwardly-sized reading chair so I reached the table in an uncomfortable position, and my boyfriend’s chair was with it’s back to the VERYCLOSELYLOCATED bar(so when people actually stand for the bar instead of dining, you’re having people hover behind you screaming to one another, thus preventing you from being able to hear your own convo). You would think owners of a restaurant would know to not design a layout like that. I hate to say it, but I feel it’s one of those places people go just to «be seen.» Needless to say, I won’t be going back. I strongly believe they need to spend more time making sure the food comes out right as opposed to on how everything is decorated on the plate and on the walls.
