Crowne Plaza Auburn Hills

Looking through the reviews that are 5 stars on this page makes me think they either paid some people to write fake reviews or those people are out of their minds.
Me my mom and my sister stayed here last weekend for a little girls trip, the room was so run down and you can tell it hadn’t been updated in years. The carpet was tore up and there were red (looked like dried blood) stains on it. Those red stains were also spattered all over the blinds, I joked that it looked like someone hadn’t cleaned up their murder. but that’s obviously not funny when your room looks like a murder took place in it!
The icing on the cake to this stay was the people in the room next to us were being super loud almost like they were in our room. There had to be 25 people in there, anyway the cops ended up showing up and arresting some of them.
Needless to say we won’t be coming back to this place.

Stayed here for a wedding last night. Overall satisfied with the room and staff. Everything was clean and modern and i really like that the pool was open ²⁴⁄₇. The only issue i had is the shuttle was an additional fee to and from the wedding so it actually was more expensive to reserve rooms under the wedding party compared to online.

This is my goto hotel when visiting family in the area. Always welcomed as a platinum member and always upgraded to a suite. The Restaurant bar is nice with a good selection and medium to high priced drinks but that’s typical. The rooms are unique. The last stay their I had a room with a HUGE bathroom and a very unique shower, which was also a Jacuzzi. But you had to walk up steps to get to it. It was Odd but nice. All of the other rooms I have been in are typical crown plaza rooms and very nice, clean, and comfortable. The price here is usually under $ 120 but I always use 10K points for my stay. FYI they do not have the lounge for Platinum Members which is a negative.

Good place for business travelers. Has a nice bar restaurant and all the amenities like other Crowne Plaza. Front desk is very friendly and will address and concerns with a smile.

I have been staying here pretty much every week for the past four months. In that time, I have not had one complaint regarding my rooms, the facilities, or the staff. In fact, I feel their staff is what makes them such a spectacular hotel. I’m always greeted with a smile and for those who have gotten to know me, a «hello Mr. Anderson» in a Matrix sort of way. Their breakfasts beat all other places I have stayed hands down. This is a great hotel and I highly recommend it to anyone who happens to be in the area.

Nice location for a business workshop. Internet, a fridge of cold beverages and snacks and a nice big conference room to allow for plenty of elbow room!

Okay so usually I don’t write any bad reviews unless it’s necessary to warn others.
I had my wedding block here for my October 2013 wedding. The one plus to staying here was that the staff there, especially Moe, were super friendly and helpful.
Too bad there were a number of negatives that outweighed the positives…
*Our «honeymoon suite» had a toilet that did not work
*I woke up on our wedding day to an alert from my bank that the hotel had charged me $ 600 and the staff could not tell me why
*The conceirge would not help one of our guests get a taxi to a nearby restaurant
*The late night pizza we scheduled for midnight had not even been started when we arrived at the bar and was undercooked and «doughy» when we finally got it
*I discussed the pizza problem with the front desk the next day and they did not offer any discount or give me a solution to the problem.
*The breakfast bar is subpar for the $ 8.99 we paid per person for. Eggs are terrible, everything is cold, only good thing was the french toast.
I would not recommend this hotel for your wedding if you want guests to be happy and for you to get your money’s worth.

Okay… either I’m Unilocaling the wrong location or this place has rapidly gone downhill since these other reviews were written. And I’m definitely not Unilocaling the wrong location.
My friend and I stayed here for a night this past week, as I came to town to visit and we saw a show at DTE.
Here’s the highlight reel of what made this place awful:
— when we got to our room the door was cracked open, furniture was moved, and it was weird. I called the front desk who said they were told the room was clean and ready, but they would send up new keys. We started unpacking, and then someone knocked on our door and told us they were moving us to a new room. Fine. Then 10 seconds later maintenance knocks on the door says we don’t have to move, they’d clean up and be out… wtf, make up your minds. We moved anyway.
— the new room’s ventilation or HVAC system (or both) was messed up, because it was considerably warmer in there and despite me eventually kicking the thermostat to the 60s at one point, it was still warm and stuffy in there.
— the hotel is not updated at all, except for the bedding. Anyone can buy new sheets. The rest was outdated and yuck. The tile in the bathroom was straight up disgusting.
— there was supposed to be a fridge in our room (I was specifically looking for this when I was booking our room, so I am positive about this) — there was no fridge. There was, however, a random fridge sitting in the hallway outside another room. Apparently I got off the elevator into a trailer park.
— I requested a high floor when I booked the room. We were placed on the second floor. Normally I’d be like, whatever, must not have a lot of rooms, it’s only a request, etc… but when we returned to the hotel around midnight there were maybe 10 cars in the parking lot, so the hotel being at capacity didn’t seem to be an issue.
— when we returned to the hotel at midnight there was NO ONE at the front desk or anywhere within sight, and the hotel has NO security features in place — nowhere to swipe your room key in the elevator or anything. This means anyone can walk in, get in the elevator, and do what they please. For two women returning to the hotel late at night all alone with no employees around, this didn’t sit well with me. Plus the doors only have chains, which is the least safe thing ever.
— the bartender in the restaurant was rude, and actually threw down my friend’s receipt and pen when we paid. I have zero clue what could have prompted this (other than ordering and paying we had zero interaction with the woman), but it wasn’t cool.
— the front desk staff was nice enough to tell us about a shuttle service to DTE when we asked about transportation options, so we signed up. …Except then the hotel didn’t tell the bar running the shuttle. Luckily we called the bar to ask a question, otherwise they wouldn’t have known to pick us up. Nice job, Crowne Plaza!
I seriously doubt I will ever set foot in this town again, but if I do, you can bet this will be the last place you’ll find me.

Hey Chuck, thanks for spelling my name wrong in your owner comment. Based on my experience at your hotel, seems about right. Ridiculous.

We stayed here in July 2013 because my daughter and friend were attending a concert at The Palace. It would be PERFECT if they had some sort of shuttle for concert-​goers. It took me 45 min to drop the girls off, and more than 45 to go pick them up, even though the drive was about six miles round trip!
The room was fine and the bathroom was quite big, which was nice. Even with the curtain clip to hold the curtains closed, we were awakened by the crack of dawn because there was a space by the air conditioning that couldn’t be covered. The desk employees varied in friendliness, but none were rude.
We used the pool (bathwater!) which had a really neat lift (hot tub too) for people needing assistance getting from a wheelchair into the pool. The fitness room had decent cardio equipment, but the weight machines were in need of a bit of maintenance. They seemed a bit sticky.
The food at O’Malley’s was good, but the service was terrible. The waitress forgot two things, didn’t come back to ask if we needed anything, and I had to take the bill to the bar to pay, where I had to cool my heels for several minutes until she came out of the back.
In spite of that, I’d stay there again. It was fairly quiet, clean, and the location was very handy.

No real issues. You won’t be disappointed. Unless you eat at the in house restaurant. Rooms and staff are excellent. Bring your trunks for the pool and sauna. Nice gym too. The room’s LCD tv is big for a hotel.

Great hotel. Clean. Quiet floor is the 8^th. Nice indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, workout room, free laundry! Good food at the restaurant connected to the hotel. Very relaxing stay.

FRAUDULENT CHARGE TO MY CREDIT CARD THAT THEY REFUSE TO REVERSE!
They jacked me for $ 250, claiming that our non-​smoking room smelled like cigarettes when we did NOT SMOKE ANYTHING in our room!
If we wanted a room that we could smoke in, we would have gotten a smoking room! DUH! They were available. This is just a SHADY way for them to rake in some extra money and take advantage of their access to my credit card information.
The front desk clerk had even told me that many rooms are former smoking rooms that were recently renovated, cleaned and converted to non-​smoking rooms. There could still be residual odors that are later released. The room didn’t smell like cigarettes to us but it’s completely plausible that the smell could remain in the carpet and be released when a housekeeper vacuums the room. Completely unfair to charge customers for a cigarette odor in a room that was formerly a smoking room. Or it didn’t even smell like cigs and they just want to take my money. That will backfire of course, when they loose business!

The staff is always friendly and welcoming along with their clean room, comfy beds and homey Irish Pub restaurant.
Morning breakfast is fresh and satisfying. Not to mention the coffee will be sure to jerk you awake.
Right in the heart of the automotive world so getting to those customers is easy.

I love Crowne Plaza’s, they are a pretty high standard hotel chain. When I go to Mexico I always stay at the Crowne Plaza in Acapulco.
The staff here are super friendly and they even had fresh made cookies when we arrived!
The hot tub is super hot, I have never been in one so hot before, and the pool is very warm!
The rooms have everything you would expect in a Crowne, but I found it weird how there was only a shower stall and not a tub and shower… It isn’t like I take baths in hotels anyway, ewww… I just find it odd just a shower.
I like how the Crowne Plaza has the nice cozy white duvet to keep you nice and snug when you sleep and the pillow selection that they offer making your stay a nice relaxing one.
Overall I had a great time and I would recommend spending your trip at the Crowne if you are in the area.
if you book on hotwire you will save and receive a deal, and this is the only 3 ½ star in the area so you are bound to get the Crowne :)
I never book online and I am very picky where I stay but if you like the photos that you see for this property then you will not be disappointed. Also I like how the pool is open 24 hours, it is nice after a long day of shopping to go have a nice swim or enjoy the hot tub before resting in their nice cozy beds they offer at the Crowne Plaza in Auburn Hills! :)
