The Atlantic Club Beach Bar(formerly The Hilton Beach Bar) is a great stop on the boardwalk to rest your tootsies and cool down with a signature cocktail. The atmosphere is lively yet relaxing, and with outdoor seating with waitress service I couldn’t ask for anything more. Try the Orange Rush; it’s delicious!

Technically, it is now called The Atlantic Club Beach Bar, since the Hilton is now called the Atlantic Club Casino. Anyway, I went during happy hour on Thursday and it was a lot of fun. The live Irish rock band(who performs there every Thursday evening during the summer) was really good. All bottle drinks are $ 3 during happy hour… and they even have Bud Lime! The patrons here seem to be very laid back. It’s a little smaller than the other casino beach bars, but in a way, that’s what makes this place more unique. My only complaint is that when we first arrived, the bartender was in the middle of chatting with his co-workers and not paying attention to the customers. I had to wait a good 7 minutes before several others at the bar starting yelling for his attention, and he STILL took his time to serve us. Also, there was no cover charge on Thursday evening… I can’t speak for the weekends though.

so we should have known before we arrived that the quality of service was going to be sub par. we had heard the place was family-friendly, so i had i called prior to arriving and was told it was not. later, one of my traveling companions called and was told it was. we needed to know since it was a mix of families and friends with children under 21 traveling down to atlantic city. once we arrived the location was great for accessing the beach and outdoor showers and restrooms. it was great to take a break from the beach and grab an adult beverage when needed. the prices are expensive, but it is atlantic city. the service was not so good… the bartenders seemed to be enjoying each other’s company better than attending to the customers. there was a band playing which was fun! as the afternoon ended, we decided to take the whole crew into the bar. some of the under 21 children were young, but there was no issue with them entering. the food — again expensive, again we were in ac — was a tad better than microwaved food. since the beach bar does not have a kitchen, they have the meal items in heated or cooled containers behind the bar. now, we all have our food and drinks and such… the staff lets us the under 21 children have to leave!!! don’t you think they would have told us there was time they would asked to leave when we entered. still not sure what the criteria was… so, some of the adults had to leave with the kids while the rest of us boxed up the food and downed the drinks. there are pros and cons to this place… i don’t know if i would make it a destination, but if i was in the area again, maybe i’d stop by…
