Atlantic City Bus Terminal

Ughhhh. I waited an hour at the bus terminal to find out I had to go to ballys to get my bus… then i get to ballys, they told me to go to ceasars… i waited 2 hrs at ceasers for a bus that winded up going to the bus terminal anyway… I am so annoyed

Greyhound is the worst bus company I’ve ever been to. Even worse than the ones from Brazil, because there they don’t sell if they can’t serve. The staff, besides being extremely rude, are completely clueless! regular tourists won’t get any information until they find it themselves not getting onto a bus that is overbooked. If you have any other option, avoid greyhound by all means! It has no Respect for its customers.

yeah its dirty and all but thats not the problem, I dont expect much, im very open minded and usually give 4 or 5 star reviews so you know this place is bad when I give it a 1 star.
1. the problem with the bus terminal is the place is a human rights violation with so much control and cops everywhere like much of atlantic city is. the transit cops are the rudest and meanest people. sometimes they make you leave the bus terminal and its cold outside. especially the homeless gets harassed the most.
2. I left my bike in the bike area and all of a sudden they decide to post a random sign all bikes left will be discarded in 7 days so by the time I got back to atlantic city my bike along with about 40 other bikes are completely gone. only 8 bikes were there by the time I got back and mine was one of those that had its locked and bike removed. (will post pics of the sign) we pay so much money to NJ transit but they treat us like animals.
3. third transit cops dont do their job, im indian and I usually mind my own business but one day 2 black passengers were calling me racial slurs and I said something back to stand up for myself, that’s when the one passenger got all mad and threat me and said «my husband will meet you in franklin ave» she changed seats 3 times and I barley said anything. and she was on the phone and took pictures of me. the bus driver who is a white female already took the side of the 2 black passengers because she knows them and she called transit cops on me and transit cops told me to leave bus but refused to even listen when I told them the lady threat me which is illegal and a crime. so transit cops have time to harass law abiding citizens but cant enforce laws and make sure passengers are safe? then let me ask why do we need transit cops in the first place if they dont enforce laws or care about the safety of passengers? by the way I have no problem with police, I am a law abiding citizen, its the transit cops that are the problem. only good thing I will say about transit is most of the bus drivers are friendly and awesome ppl besides this driver who called police on me. other then that lack of buses, transit cops, crime, and the bus terminal are all a problem. its new jersey so what can you expect, dirty and crime everywhere but this bad? and im not even exactarating.

They have no hooks on the ladies bathroom stall doors. Who is the moron who designed this? Do women not have handbags in their world?
Also, that bathroom was NASTY. I was not about to put contact lenses in using that one. Defintely not the nicest terminal I’ve been in but I was only passing through briefly; I think it would suck if you had to hang out here for a long time period & I say this having been in other terminals on the Greyhound bus route.

Let’s start by saying we are in AC therefore I wasn’t expecting anything fancy. I got here on a late weekday evening to catch the Greyhound to NY. I had purchased my ticket in advance online and the check in was super easy.
The terminal is a bit grimy but I wasn’t expecting much since AC is ghetto.
All of the ghetto people were taking NJ transit buses which was great.
The greyhound bus arrived late (about 10mins) and then we were off to NYC.
Now let’s talk about the bus, it was super comfy and the best part each seat has its own outlet for your electronic devise.
I usually drive to AC but it’s great to know there are other options.

It was my first time visiting this bus terminal. There is a store inside where you can buy pizza, sandwiches and other food. I wasn’t hungry so I did not end up getting anything. The bathroom was not dirty, but it didn’t feel clean either. The waiting area smelled like the bathroom (and it was not a good smell).

I hate this place I glad I smarten up and take amtrak to AC too many sketchy bums in the restroom constantly the bus is late or some asshole cutting the line causing a fight smh I’m been done with ghetto casino bus

I am really not use to taking the bus here from this station. I usually catch the casino bus from Port Authority that is just too and from location. I was in a car coming here this time so a one way trip back to NY was the way to go. It is an okay terminal, I found my gate pretty fast to get a GreyHound bus back to New York at 5pm. I prefer the other casino buses but would take this again. It was $ 27.50 one way ticket back to NY in a Monday.

Place was surprisingly clean. Lot of shady characters standing outside.

Where do you or can you park to meet and pick people up from the bus. Everything is marked «NO PARKING» & «DO NOT ENTER» this place sucks!

There are certainly worse terminals in the US, but this review isn’t about them, it’s about Atlantic City. As the main transportation hub for all things bus like, there is no doubt this traffic laden spot is sketchy. Dodgy as it may be, it is still the place where all will eventually land when traveling by bus. So be prepared upon arrival.
If at all possible, avoid arriving at night and solo. There are always characters at places like this, whether they’re giving you the stink eye or looking to push or ask for stuff (whatever it may be), it’s best to avoid it entirely. Traveling here alone is never the last resort by any stretch, but if one can come here by day, then that sure as hell beats coming here at night.
Greyhounds and the like will likely run one $ 35 – 40 round trip to NYC. The fares will vary if the buses are beyond the cheapest nearby city, which in this case is Philadelphia. Though sometimes bus fares are available straight at the terminal at a premium, try to save money and book a deal online.
Like any public restroom destination, the facilities are expectedly nasty. Customer service isn’t terribly friendly, one might have to resort to self service machines for any purchasing that needs to be done. The terminal is known to close for inclement weather, so be aware of the forecast before travel. Coming here will likely be the cheapest option over limos, personal cars (gas + tolls), and flights, but knowing all of the above ahead of time will save a lot of headache.

Outdated unkempted, rude people behind the counters! Both greyhound and nj transit! That’s why I always get my tickets from self service machines! I complained to the companies of both nj and greyhound too many times to care because they won’t do anything! Star troopers collect a paycheck for nothing! They don’t write people up for smoking on the platform cause they do it to! Where is the discipline? Nj people eat right in front customers! Are you freakin kidding me? The lines for busses are awlful! Bathrooms are f quality! Smell terrible and have hobos in them all the time! And ranked high in customer service? By who? The rude people who staff them? The lazy state troopers let people out front of building do anything they want? Not even a quarter of a star!!!

No, no, no. As a individual who has never owned an automobile; as an individual who has ridden all his life on public transit; as an individual who has stood in line and sat on benches and slept on floors and huddled on concrete and been squeezed against walls and eaten meals from vending machines, I am here to tell you that the Atlantic City Bus Terminal is a fine, pleasant, even cheerful bus terminal. As nice as any I’ve seen anywhere on the eastern seaboard. The aisles are wide and the space is roomy and high-​ceilinged (important because it means that glaring/​harsh fluorescent lights are not beating right down on your retinas). The seats are curvy and comfy. There’s nary a vagrant or bum. You can fall asleep in the seating here, its that comfortable – and you can fall asleep knowing you will not be messed with. I found the staff to be helpful and the snacks machines diverse; I found the water fountains and bathrooms clean and bright. And guess what? When you’re tired of sitting inside you can go out and slouch right down on sun-​baked, rain-​washed concrete where the buses pull into their bays and its bright and sunny and open to the sky. Very summery! Its also very simply and logically laid out in terms of floorplan: you enter in the front and straight ahead of you – directly out the back – are the buses. You can see them, point to them. No winding hallways.
Bottom line: this hub is not dark, gloomy, menacing, or disturbing like most bus stations are. Give props!

It’s ok. It feels a lot less spacious and open then the previous bus terminal (which is now Polo Ralph Lauren). This place used to be packed with day-​trippers from NY, Philly and Baltimore coming by bus to the casinos but now it’s rather less crowded since those places have nearby casinos luring them (yikes). Bathrooms are clean, and the staff is friendly. No food options besides a few vending machines. Old bus terminal had a sandwich place.

Well, as bus terminals in the U.S.A. go (a very low bar…) I actually found this one to be somewhat decent. The people I dealt with at the Greyhound ticket counter were actually quite friendly and informative. There is a digital board with the local New Jersey transit bus departure schedules for those who need to catch a local bus to connect to their final destination. there is no restaurant in the bus depot but there are numerous snack machines and there is a Dunkin Donuts half a block away and a McDonalds next door. The bathrooms are relatively clean by bus terminal standards, meaning that I witnessed that they are being cleaned on an apparently pseudo– regular basis and I didn’t want to puke as soon as I walked in the door, so they are at least not super-​disgusting like some bus/​train/​airport restrooms are. If you are taking Greyhound from NYC the bus likely will stop at a casino first then come here, but when I did that only one passenger was going to the bus station, everyone else to the casino. i was a little worried when the bus pulled into a casino because I needed to catch a local bus back to my neighborhood from the bus depot and didn’t really want to walk to the bus stop from a casino at 4 AM in not-​likely-​to-​be-​nominated-​safest-​city-​in-​America A.C. Greyhound does not have a board saying which bus leaves from which gate in the terminal but they only have 3 gates for Greyhound as most of the buses going to/​from this station are New Jersey transit and the gates themselves say which destination is served. My impression is NJ Transit basically operates this station and Greyhound is sort of like a tenant organization. some homeless looking types hanging out in the station, but not surprising given this is the city of broken dreams Atlantic City, which I think is also unlikely to be nominated «Palm Beach of the North» anytime this century. yeah, I can’t see a reason for most people to take a bus to Philly from here when schedule permits you to take the NJ Transit train which is a generally more pleasant experience, but if schedule reasons like it being late at night cause you to need to take a bus you can take a bus to Philly or to Lindenwold, NJ where you can catch Patco into Philly.

If you are traveling from Philly to AC, the preferred method is the train. It costs $ 8 to switch to PATCO, or $ 10 to go all the way into PHL-​station (Amtrak), instead of $ 16.50+ by bus. However, the bus comes far more frequently, like every half hour on Saturdays. Whereas the train is about once in 90 minutes. And the bus goes between downtown to Philly and downtown AC instead of to 30^th street station and AC convention center, both of which require more steps to get to.
If you «miss your train» you can switch to a #551 bus to phila or #554 to Lindenwold. The train tickets are cross honored. Here is a strong suggestion. Use the train primarily, but let the bus be a supplement to your schedule if needed.
Ultimately, this bus terminal exceeds the convenience of some other transit hubs. They even have posted schedules and video screen departure boards on the NJT side… and ticket machines for both NJTransit and Greyhound. And there’s a fairly clean bathroom and water fountain. If only all bus stations could provide such helpful amenities! But the train is still the best way to make this trip.

The Atlantic City bus terminal is gross, although an upgrade from where it used to be a decade ago. If you take the shuttle from NYC to Atlantic City on Greyhound, be sure to ask the driver specifically if the bus is going to stop at the terminal. Do not trust that just because the schedule says it will stop, that the driver will want to stop. If the driver does not stop, you are basically screwed and end up at a flippin’ casino and have to walk to the terminal with baggage because your ride (who is your mother) does not have a cell phone and is waiting at said terminal for you. But I digress.
The bathrooms here used to have the «metal mirrors.» I’m assuming that the person/​people who used to be in charge feared broken mirror glass might be used in fierce bathroom combat. Although I try not to use the bathroom, I think that the upgrade included a move to glass mirrors, which shows an increased level of trust, which is nice.
