Just signed up and so far so good. The customer service has been very helpful. Just hopefully will be able to get a car — I live near the Penn /​Ponce location and they seem to be always rented.

Great customer service and the cars are well maintained. Sometimes, the cars smell like cigarettes, but that’s because some members don’t like to follow the rules. Overall, it’s a great service!

Zipcar is the only car rental that will accept a cash deposit in Atlanta. I rented a Mazda 3 for 5 days, it was fuel economy and a great car overall. I also found the staff to be very generous and helpful. This is the place where they don’t charge you for rental accessories: GPS systems, car phone chargers, aux cables, etc. How cool is that? Thank you guys very much for the pick-​up and drop-​off service. I always support small businesses and see all the reasons to keep going back.
P. S. During my rental, I wanted the car for longer than I had initially reserved it and all I had to do was make a phone call and let them know I’ll be 2 days late.

I had a fantastic Zipcar experience earlier this week. The car was brand new and very conveniently located at a Marta station. I’ll never rent a car at the Atlanta airport again!

I wish there were more locations, but I’m pretty happy with the service here in Atlanta. I started using Zipcar in Boston, and kept my membership when I moved down south. I am able to walk or MARTA almost anywhere, but sometimes I need a Zipcar to get something at IKEA or pick up a friend from the airport in style. Zipcar rates and ease of rental are ideal in those situations. For rentals longer than 6 hours, it may be worth the hassle of going to a rental agency, because the price gets out of hand. I never really use more than $ 10 worth of gas, and car rentals can be $ 50 a day with insurance, while Zip is about $ 70 – 100 a day.
I feel for the other reviewers who had poor customer service, esp. the one who had difficulty getting gas. But, the times when I have had to call customer service, they have been prompt and helpful and reasonable.

One of the best transportation services to sign up for, and pay money for. Grocery trips, quick errands on your day off, weekend car ride to eat out and shop in the city, car towed, take grandma to her appointments, running around for party planning, etc. Whatever reasons you can think of or that may come up in life I’d suggest Zipcar to any and everyone who may need independent travel for a certain amount of time. While you’re out they even text you 30min before it’s time to return the car to see if you need more time. You can text back with however much time you need and you’re set to go with a confirmation text a few seconds later. Free gas, and $ 9 insurance waiver with many different car models and rates to choose from hourly to daily. When signing up they have a pay as you go plan, $ 6 a month plan, or a annual plan of $ 60, and this service is offered world wide. There are instructional videos and Q&A about all you’d need and want to know about using the service. Their phone customer service are very personable and helpful with whatever on the go concerns you have. The mobile app is really easy and convenient to use.
The only few things I can point out as minor flaws are the car not matching the color of the car model you pick to rent in the picture, keys not being attached to the car like instructed in the instructional video on their website, having never driven a car with the chance to Sync my phone with the car there wasn’t a instruction pamphlet or anything on how to do that once I got in the car, the locale instructions of the car were close to the car, but yet a bit vague (even though I know they were for privacy and protection purposes of the company).
I love the fact they wanted straight forward feedback about my experience, and gave me credit towards my next car rental. I even got a discount for having the car late at night which cut down my charge for my usage greatly.

I have been a Zipcar member for a few years now, and I can definitely say that I’m glad that I am. I have been in situation where I needed a immediately late on a weekend or weeknight, and Zipcar was the best option. After reading some of the negative reviews here, I can definitely say that I disagree with them… customer service has always been excellent, any info I have needed I was able to find either online or via phone. Hopefully, Zipcar can expand even more in Atlanta.

The advertisement of 180 miles per 24 hours is barely visible on the site and was only truly informed of such when I got w bill for going over.

Ok so here is the story: I moved to Atlanta about 3 weeks ago and have been debating whether to buy a car or not. I got an apartment 5 blocks from work, and would walk to work regardless, car or not. But there are however a few mayor inconveniences-​apart from many minor ones-​to not having a car. The biggest one for me thus far has been grocery shopping. My nearest supermarket is more than a mile away and my shopping would be very limited to what I could carry. Not to mention Whole Foods is miles away-​yeah I’m one of those. My next door neighbor has been kind enough to take me along on her grocery shopping days. She herself doesn’t have a car and is a Zipcar member. Naturally I considered this as an alternative. That is until our last shopping trip a few days ago. She booked a car not far from our building a few hours before via the app on her phone. Pretty handy and convenient.
So far so good right? We get to the car and its low on gas. Apparently you are supposed to return the car to its spot with at least a quarter tank. But no problem, we proceed to a gas station and this is were everything went astray. It was my friends first time getting gas on a Zipcar and she was unfamiliar with the procedure that has to be done with the card # and what not. So we resorted to call costumer service.
5 minutes later, still on hold, we had to move the car to the gas station parking lot because we were holding up others.
15 minutes later, STILL on hold we got so impatient that I looked up online if there was any other way to contact them about this problem; –SPOILER ALERT– there’s not. As I see that the Zipcar business owner comments on all the negative reviews on here with the more ore less the same generic apology, I will save him the trouble and will point up that you can look up the gas procedure on a section of the members website, but it is no way obvious and we found that out after the fact by having to search for it.
Back to the story.
37 minutes and 19 seconds later a costumer service rep finally assisted us. It was a fairly simple procedure, but the point is the following: this a company that bills its costumers by the hour and if you have a problem during one of your reservations you are basically paying them to keep you on hold. It’s completely unacceptable for a time sensitive business to have such untimely costumer service.
The whole ordeal took us about an hour after everything was said and done. We tried to extend the reservation since we no longer had enough time to go grocery shopping, but couldn’t because the car was booked after, there were also no other cars available walking distance from our apartment building. Needles to say we reluctantly had to go out to dinner that night, at which my friend told my the other bad experiences she has had with Zipcar.
Oh and by the way, there saving calculator which tells you how much you can save by using Zipcar is very misleading. It doesn’t accurately account for their inflated weekend rates, possible miles overages and doesn’t take into account their membership fees. Basically it gives you an estimate that in no way is representative of the usage of a typical costumer. But what do I know? I’m just an accountant. And one who’s going car shopping this weekend.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS!!! It is a rip-​off and shady company that will send you fees without notifying you or calling you, and the customer service is always rude, unhelpful, and clueless about their policies. If you want thorough help without getting the run around, you have to call at least 3 people.

Horrible execution of a great idea. The costumer experience is horrendous and costumer service is horrible. Zip Car claims to be a car sharing community, and that might have been true on its inception, but is far from the truth now. It’s nothing more than a thinly veiled car rental company with worse costumer service, just as many hidden fees and charges and honestly if you use a car for more than 4 hours much more expensive. They are owned by Avis so its no surprise the service is sub par to say the least. I’ve been a member for 6 months and have had more disappointing experiences than positive ones. I’m just disappointed they have no competition.

I planned to rent a vehicle for the weekend just to run some errands. I decided to apply to Zipcar because I frequently rent cars, but I don’t always need them for days at a time. I applied, and shortly after I received a denial notice via email. I called and spoke to several representatives and I was advised to get a 3 year MVR printout from the DMV. I happen to have one on hand from earlier in the year, so I submitted that to their records department. By the end of the week I still hadn’t gotten a response, so I called the local branch. I was instructed to get an updated MVR in order to proceed. I did this. Anyone who has ever been to the DMV knows that this is a MAJOR inconvenience. Anyhow… I got an updated MVR and I submitted it. 2 more weeks go by and I still had no word from Zipcar. I finally decided to email them in regard to my application. I received a call the same afternoon and at this point they are telling me I now need a 7 year MVR. It is plainly stated on their website that you can’t have any infractions within the last 3 years, so why would you need to go back 7??? I decided to just request a refund of my application fee. THIS IS WAY TOO MUCH TROUBLE TO SPEND MY MONEY WITH A COMPANY THAT OBVIOUSLY DOES NOT WANT MY PATRONAGE. They seem nice enough as customer service reps, but I really feel like I was being given the run around. I’ll stick with Enterprise.

The atlanta office has excellent customer service. I don’t know if it was from my email to customer service or calling the 1 – 800 number, but when I complained about getting hit with an incorrect late fee, within 20 minutes I received a personal phone call from the office saying they reversed the late fee for me. 20 minutes!

My two stars are not in regards to the ZipCar concept, but rather the rude service received from operators. I canceled a reservation less than 30 minutes before the reservation, and called to have the same reservation back, but they were completely unwilling. After three attempts, I finally got someone who was nice enough to help (Taylor). She even provided me reasons why I’m such a great Zipper (no late fees, no gas charges, etc.). I understand the policy prevents abuse, but I was even willing to get the old reservation back. I think you should be allowed to do that at least.
Bye Bye ZipCar. Come November I’m going to Lyft while I save for a car.

I am so sad to report that in the last year ZIP went from a great company to one that I now dread using. Customer service is lacking cars are dirty and often when reporting a problem it’s as if you are the problem. I so miss the old ZIP

I heart Zipcar. I bicycle commute and it really comes in handy when I need to run to the store or head OTP. I only use it a couple of times a month for an hour or at a time so it doesn’t get too expensive.

They keep raising prices almost monthly… obviously something isnt going right with their business model. Ive been a long time zipcar member, and the prices have gone up 3x in the past 6 months. It is no longer financially viable to use their service for more than an hour. When the cheapest car in atlanta is $ 11/​hr and i can rent a car for the weekend for $ 40… really zip car? did you think that people/​i wouldnt notice? If you cant maintain customer expectations then you and i are finished…

ZipCar — when it’s good — it’s great! Super convenient and practical.

I like zipcar a lot. The staff in the Atlanta office is very friendly and helpful! I only rent from Emory or Decatur so my cars are pretty gently used and always clean and I love that gas is included up to 180 miles a day! Zipcar has been very helpful since I decided to get rid of my old clunker and try something radical. I only use zipcar on the weekends or in emergencies so the cost is great. I have an everyday value plan so I get 10% off all my rentals and any time I don’t use rolls over. Overall great service especially when you are under 25

Zipcar is PHENOMENAL. $ 10-​$ 11/​hour for quick trips (like buying 40 lb bags of dog food or a ton of groceries). It’s a supplement to the in-​town, walking and MARTA lifestyle.
If I had to use a Zipcar for daily driving, yea then it’d be more expensive. Its for short term car rentals. That being said, even if you rent it for a weekend and pay $ 250, it’s STILL cheaper than owning a car, making a monthly payment, insurance, gas and maintenance over time.
