Ordered sushi/sashimi and some appetizers to the hotel. Food was poor quality. No utensils included in bag. No spoons for soup. Really? Sushi and sashimi had an oily shiny film on several pieces that had that«not so fresh looking appearance». Three people in our party and not one was happy with the quality, flavor or value. Even little things were wrong. The bag the food was delivered in smelled like a day old ash tray. Just gross. Save your money and stomach. Order from someplace else.

Service was great. Sushi and rolls did not feel or taste fresh. Sticky rice had a dry consistency. And overall I expected better based on the reviews I just read. Sorry won’t be coming back here :(

Yoi Yoi is a lovely family owned restaurant offering the best valued sushi and hibachi in Atlanta. The presentation and quality of ingredients in the sushi is marvelous. My girlfriend and I live down the road and we come to Yoi Yoi at least once a week. The owners and staff greet us by name as we enter and are extremely accommodating. They treat all of their customers with the warm and inviting hospitality that exceeds expectations, even for family owned operations For example: One day my girlfriend and I ate lunch and I forgot my wallet and we didn’t have the money to pay for our meal and the restaurant was about to close. We told the manager one of us would drive home and the other would wait at the restaurant. She laughed in response and said«It’s fine, you two are in here all the time. I’ll hold on to the bill and you can come pay for it later when we re-open for dinner» I was taken aback by her trust and generosity. This is the kind of quality hospitality and service RARELY seen these days. Yoi Yoi provides high quality and delicious food, fine selection of sake and other drinks, warm service, and a relaxed atmosphere at an astonishingly affordable rate. During lunch hours Yoi Yoi has sushi lunches and other great meal-deals that simply cannot be beat. My favorite things on the menu are the Golden Philadelphia Roll, the Rainbow roll, Hibachi chicken, and the green salad with ginger dressing. I don’t know how they make that ginger dressing but it is THEBEST dressing I’ve ever had on a salad. I could damn near drink the stuff. I would(and do) recommend that any one go to Yoi Yoi. You will not be disappointed. Hands down my favorite casual dining restaurant in the city.

Really great place. Accessible sushi and hibachi at reasonable prices. Portions were generous as well. Service was excellent. I’ll give some spotlight especially to their veggie tempura(because veggie tempura never gets enough attention). It was a big portion with well-cut, well-battered, well-fried veggies – a very good variety(mushrooms, onions, sweet potato, broccoli, zucchini, eggplant). I’ve been to some other spots on the westside that really phone it in on the veggies(here’s a slice of fried carrot – that will be $ 6 please.) Will totally be coming back here again.

Good sushi, very nice staff, and a very pleasant/clean restaurant. Would definitely go back again.

3 stars based solely on the fact that my delivery got here sooner than expected(by like half an hour. The food, well, wasn’t that great. The concept was there. The taste was sort of there, except for the wasabi In nearly every bite. The spicy tuna’s heat came from the wasabi. The caterpillar roll had wasabi in it too. The tempura shrimp in the caterpillar roll was way overcooked. I’m sad to say that this was my second and last experience with Yoi Yoi. I remember wasting food during my dine-in experience because it was nearly inedible. Best of luck to them.

Awesome place. We glad they were open and we gave it a try. New owners and they were very nice and welcoming. Probably the best customer service in a while!!! We will be back very soon!

Holy hamachi Kama batman. I haven’t had Saba this old since the day I discovered a frozen slab buried in my freezer. Tastes more like mackerel jerky. And the service? This kid must’ve stayed up all night playing call of duty, because he could barely remember what a cup of green tea was. I’m praying to the sushi gods on this one. Sayonara

Prior to new sushi spots opening, this would be the spot I go to mainly because of convenience. I’ve been here for lunch, dinner, and even had take-out. Be prepared to wait, a lot, especially during lunch and dinner. There are usually a few other patrons when I stop by, but not a lot to call for more than a 30 minute wait. Interior is interesting. There are random faux vines hanging out with some modern, industrial metal pieces on the wall. I’ve tried an assortment of rolls and nigiri. Sushi and service is okay. Sushi is inconsistent, but it satisfies the cravings. Last resort, I’d come back. Clean facility. Ample parking.

I was looking forward to my meal based on the reviews, but the hostess and manager ruined that for me. As I walked in, the hostess began to tell me they close at 230. Really? I read the door, but I gave plenty of time to make a couple sushi rolls. Wow. Close at 2 instead if you want to be finished completely by 230. I use to be a server, I get it. Caring about the clock instead of your customers is rude and bad business. Keeping it moving!

Best sushi in Atl. We drive 40 minutes just to eat here at least once every couple weeks. I wanted to take a pic of my super mango crunch roll but I got excited and ate it too fast. I get it every time. Sooooo good!

Didn’t try the sushi… I’m a little leery of places that serve sushi on Sundays. This was Easter Sunday to boot. Hard to get fresh fish delivered on that day, but that didn’t stop them from serving it. Something else seemed fishy, the wallpaper near the bathroom was a newspaper motif. The newspaper appeared to have Chinese, not Japanese, characters.

I’ve only done pick up here. since I live so close to Yoi Yoi. Parking — Yoi Yoi is in a strip. Therefore, parking is great. I come by during peak times and I still manage to find a spot. When I order pick up from Yoi Yoi, it’s usually on the way home after work. Takes me about 15 easy minutes. Each time, my order has been ready and done by the time I get there. So, I’m a happy camper. … also, they allow me to switch my Cali Roll for a Spicy Tuna roll for an extra 2 buck charge(in my bento box) Why a 2 – 2.5÷5 stars. Their Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box is NOT worth ordering. The chicken tastes kind of bad/weird. I didn’t like the broccoli in the box. I’ve had multiple bento boxes in ATL and none of them ever include broccoli. I think that’s why the chicken was off. Spicy Tuna that was included… man oh man. I’m a huge fan of this roll, but they managed to make me throw the whole roll away after eating a piece. The inside looked super funky and tasted worse. The dumpling included was really greasy. Salad was okay. The dressing wasn’t very good & was too liquid-y. Maybe I’m too picky about my bento boxes… White rice included was fine & so was the miso soup.

The staff is helpful and ready to answer any questions about the menu! This is my second time here and I’ve had great customer service each time. The food is good, can’t wait to try what I order today! The tempura veggies are ok– they were bland and they give you quite a bit of food. The bento box I had a week prior was ok.

Mediocre at best. First of all, I found a bug at the bottom of my ginger salad. Ew! I also ordered a Shrimp Tempura roll which was lukewarm, a weird temperature for sushi, which is usually chilled. Left my stomach feeling a little weird. We’ll see how I feel in the morning.

I’m not sure why I haven’t eaten here before since I’m literally just down the street but I was craving sushi from the pool yesterday and lo and behold not only is this down the street, but they deliver! So I was literally able to order from the pool. I would like to check out their on-site location at some point, however. They’re in a strip mall off Collier which has plenty of lot parking. My order was placed and delivered in 40 minutes, so I really appreciate their promptness. I had an order of the sunset rolls which I enjoyed, and a piece of salmon sashimi. I liked the rolls ok, but they didn’t blow me away like some other places have. I’d like to try some of their other options too since it’s so close, but it was fairly pricey, although nothing outside the norm for Atlanta. The sashimi was very fresh and was my favorite part of the meal. Everything was very filling. The order came with all the normal sushi sides and I appreciated that they included chopsticks as well!

I placed my order online to go. When it’s your first online order, you can get $ 5 off. For some reason, my order didn’t get placed and when I arrived 20 min later, they had not started to make my food. To accommodate me and the mistake, they gave me a free shrimp and avocado roll. Super Spider Roll(soft crab tempura, cream cheese, cucumber, spicy tuna, crabmeat, crunch, and«special sauce») Super Crunch Mango Roll(salmon, shrimp tempura, sweet mango, avocado, tempura flake and«special sauce»). The rolls however are a little pricey, but definitely worth it with how much is in each roll and how good they tasted. I’ve had a lot of sushi and this place is one of my favorite. The fish tastes fresh, there’s so much flavor in each bite and the sauce is incredible. Both times I’ve been here, it hasn’t been too busy, however don’t let that fool you. This place is amazing.

I come here whenever I have a serious craving for their vegetable udon soup. They serve it in a freaking HUGE sized bowl filled to the brim with onions, broccoli, carrots– the works. The rest of the food is very average. Nothing else is «WOW, I have to have this again!» Before I went vegan I tried the chicken teriyaki and it was so bland. Sushi isn’t very fresh either from my experience. Back to the udon soup… I wonder if they use any animal products like beef broth. Be right back while I call them really quickly. – Just got off the phone with a worker. He was very nice when I asked if the udon soup broth is meat based. He said the only vegetable based soup is the miso soup. When I asked if there’s any way they could make the udon soup with the miso or non-meat base, he said that they could maybe try that, but not right now because it’s a packed house.(The background did sound very loud). Oh well. A maybe is better than a no! I’m on a hunt for vegan friendly Asian restaurants!

Yoi Yoi Japanese Steakhouse & Sushi opened March 2013. The restaurant was formerly the fledgling Sakura Stix, also a Japanese steakhouse and sushi bar. New ownership took over, renovated the old Sakura space, and have revitalized the business. Yoi Yoi is located in the Howell Mill Village shopping center, where Publix is located, near the intersection of Howell Mill Rd. and Collier Rd. This is a relatively popular neighborhood restaurant. It’s one of the only places(perhaps the only place) to get real sushi in the area. Many customers like to order take-out or delivery. Online ordering is available. I admire what the new owners have done, rebranding the place and putting more emphasis on sushi. One of the owners, David, is the head sushi chef. As he works away behind the sushi bar, he’s often the first to greet customers as they enter the restaurant. The atmosphere is casual. The interior is Asian-themed with small waterfalls, Japanese paper lanterns, and bamboo at almost every table. It also feels loft-like with exposed ductwork above. The walls towards the kitchen and restrooms are covered in wallpaper made from Japanese newspaper. If you look closely, the newspaper looks to be from Atlanta as you’ll see ads for local businesses such as another Atlanta area Japanese restaurant, Umezono in Smyrna(now I Love Sushi). The sushi bar has two flatscreen TVs so you can hang out at the bar and watch TV. In addition to sushi, Yoi Yoi serves hibachi dishes. Unlike a stereotypical Japanese steakhouse such as Benihana, there are no teppanyaki grills and chefs in the dining room here. All of the hibachi foods are cooked behind closed doors in the kitchen. Hibachi proteins include chicken, shrimp, steak, salmon, scallops, and calamari. You can order bento boxes which are box-shaped containers with different compartments filled with various foods. For example, one bento box may contain salad, sushi, a spring roll, rice or noodles, and teriyaki chicken. For hibachi, I think prices are generally in line with, if not better than, other teppanyaki restaurants. You can get a hibachi dinner or bento box for less than $ 15 per person here. Some Japanese steakhouses charge $ 20 or more. Sushi prices are comparable to other sit-down sushi restaurants. Basic rolls are under $ 10 each and special, more«extravagant» rolls are as much as $ 15 per. The restaurant has affordable lunch specials too. My favorite is the nigiri sushi. They serve all the standard nigiri and then some, priced around $ 2 for one piece. The best deals are on the $ 4 uni(sea urchin), toro(fatty tuna), and ama ebi(shrimp with head). I’m not aware of any specials on nigiri and wish they had some. I’ve tried a fair amount of Yoi Yoi’s nigiri and overall, it’s A-OK. It’s fresh and satisfying. It’s hard to go wrong with almost any of the selections. I like to get assorted nigiri and prefer the egg omelet(tamago), striped bass, albacore tuna, fresh salmon, white tuna, mackerel(saba), smelt roe(masago), octopus(tako), tuna(maguro), yellowtail, eel(unagi), scallop, uni, and toro. I like my nigiri simple and«pure» and tend to stay away from options such as smoked white tuna and smoked salmon. I like how the unaltered, non-smoked fish taste. Some notes/observations: The tamago is a bit sweet. The saba has a significantly different flavor and texture than the rest of the fish. It’s not as soft and has more of a chew and pasty consistency to it. It’s got more of a briny taste. I still like it, though. Masago nigiri contains tiny little bright orange fish eggs. I’ve found the tako to be tougher and bit more rubbery here — octopus is supposed to be this way, but I’ve found Yoi Yoi’s to exude these characteristics even more so. The unagi is not bad, but it doesn’t seem to have enough sauce and almost tastes dry. The uni and toro are good, but I can notice a difference in quality between them and their more expensive counterparts at a higher-end or more authentic sushi restaurant. The uni, in particular, tastes slightly more fishy. Keep in mind these are all nitpicks and I wouldn’t hesitate ordering these nigiri when dining here. I don’t recommend ordering them for carry-out or delivery, however. If I had to recommend a sushi roll, I’d suggest the Hawaii Roll. It consists of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, avocado, cucumber, tobiko, and a soybean«seaweed» wrap. Instead of rolled seaweed, a soybean skin is used. It’s different. Presentation of dishes is great. Service is outstanding. Co-owner Eeleen also works as hostess and server. I think the servers do an excellent job making sure everyone is happy and taken care of.
