Wired & Fired a Pottery Playhouse

I used to be a Wired and Fired customer. I have had birthday parties there, and have spent lazy days with friends painting pottery. Normally I would be happy to recommend this business. But since they have moved from their Virginia Highlands location, they have changed. I called there today expecting a lazy day with friends painting pottery, I called and was reassured that yes even though my Groupon was expired, they would honor it for $ 30 of credit towards my bill. I said ok and made a reservation for 3. By the time I got there I was told that they had made a mistake in telling me that they would honor the Groupon, and I could pay full price or basically if I didn’t like it I could leave. I was so humiliated in front of my friends, I live 10 miles away from Wired and Fired. That’s why I called. I told them that they have lost a customer. They really didn’t care. It’s a shame. I would never recommend this place. I would be careful using any coupon @ Wired and Fired you may get humiliated like I was!

This is a great place to go with friends or kids. There is plenty to chose from and the prices are better than those in Decatur. It is still not a cheap activity, but at least you get to keep something from it. My daughter (age 5) loves this place and we will be back again.

Wired and Fired was part of a VDay weekend in ATL that I planned for babe and I. Yes, I took my boyfriend here and he actually enjoyed it! I’m sure the two bottles of wine helped. lol yes you read that right. You can bring wine and your own snacks on your creative excursion to Wired and Fired. They have wine glasses if you don’t bring your own cups.
The main things that are different about this spot is that 1) You only get 4 color choices that you have to tell them in advance and they bring them to you. If you use more than that you pay extra. I’m sure this is to help keep overall costs down. 2) They charge for studio time. From the time they bring you your paint, the timer starts. You get 2 hours. That keeps the pricing down for the pottery you paint, according to them.
The nice young lady (I can’t think of her name, she wore glasses) informed babe and I about the groupon deal that had just came out. We purchased it and it saved us so much money. I think we would have spent $ 60 between both of us and the total with the groupon was only $ 41 (groupon was $ 30 plus the difference in the price of the pottery we selected).
I enjoyed myself and it was in a great central location. We will be back!

We had a great time at Wired and Fired! The prices were great, the staff was friendly and helpful, and it was a perfect date-​night destination!

It pains me to write a somewhat negative review, but given that my experience left a somewhat bad taste in my mouth, it just feels unavoidable.
I bought a Scoutmob deal for $ 30. When I received the email, I misunderstood it and thought that I didn’t need to print anything off (yay for saving paper, or so I thought!) and that I’d just need to show my ID to the person at the front desk and I’d be on my way to a happy pottery painting experience with the boyfriend. The girl at the desk seemed confused and called over Paul, who it seems may be the manager, according to other reviews. Paul told me that, had I actually purchased the deal, I would’ve received an email in my inbox and I needed the reservation number. Okay, no problem, I apparently misunderstood. Not being a smartphone owner, I borrowed my boyfriend’s iPhone to look up the number. At least two times while I was looking up the number, Paul insisted that, if I hadn’t really bought the deal, he’d sell it to me. At least twice, I insisted that I wasn’t lying, that I had bought the deal, and that if he’d just give me a second, I’d find the number.
Now, I am an honest person. I get that this is not the case for everyone. However, when you can see that I’m ACTIVELY looking up the number, that I didn’t walk out in embarrassment, that I am not biting at your offer to re-​buy the deal I already bought – perhaps it’s time to stop calling me a liar.
Once I got the number pulled up, the girl at the counter walked us through what the deal included. Which was two pieces of pottery priced at $ 17. I saved $ 4, which didn’t seem to really make the Scoutmob worth it to me. We chose our pottery & our paints, and hunkered down to eat some of the Thai food we’d picked up from Spoon on our way over.
Overall, the experience was okay. We had a good time painting and our pieces came out nice. I think you’re paying more for the experience than you are for the actual result, but that’s okay with me. I tried to shake off my irritation with Paul, but he walked around hollering half the time, working with what I think was a bachelorette party. What can I say, he just rubbed me the wrong way. My boyfriend was surprised, as he’s actually never seen me so offended by someone.
Judging from the great reviews, other people seem to have had a much better experience, so maybe this was an isolated incident. I don’t know that I’ll ever go back to find out.

I went here recently for a little girls night out and had a nice time. You can bring your own wine (and food) to enjoy while you paint the night away. They have lots of different options for the pieces you can paint and the staff member assisting us was extremely knowledgeable. I look forward to trying my hand at a more challenging piece of pottery during my next visit.

I visited W&F for the first time this past Saturday. Overall I had a great experience, but I do think that some of the pieces could be cheaper. I really liked the cookie jar, but I don’t make cookies often and couldn’t justify paying $ 45 to paint it. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I’m excited to go back and add more pieces to my collection.

I went to the location on Virginia Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia and had a really bad experience. My boyfriend took me there for Valentine’s day last year thinking it would be something fun to do together.
The actual painting and drinking was really fun, but it was really expensive. I think it was about $ 60 for the two of us for 2 hours. We painted large coffee mugs.
We were told the cups would be ready in a week. We received a phone call saying that one of the cups shattered in the kiln as a result of a defect in the cup. I explained that I bought the cup FROM THEM and that they should reimburse me for the defective cup.
The manager was a guy who was very rude and said that he wouldn’t reimburse me but would give me a $ 20 credit. I explained that was absolutely ridiculous because nobody could buy anything in the store for $ 20 and that it’s not like I was going to come there alone and paint a cup.
The manager was really rude about the whole thing and ruined the experience for me. I will never go back.

Love this place! I went with a group of girlfriends last Tuesday for Ladies night, painting is half price at the time. They were closing at the week to move to a new location.
I really like that you can bring food, drinks (alcoholic or non-​alcoholic), and snacks with you. The tables are pretty small so if you have 3 or 4 people remember this when considering how much food and drinks to bring.
We had a great time choosing items to paint, deciding on how to decorate them, and painting them. The staff was super nice and helpful.
The only complaints I have is that the website does not give you a price range or really explain the pricing of the pieces you buy to paint. Overall it cost us each around $ 30 for the pieces we bought and painting time. Also you have to come back a few days later to pic up your pieces. We didn’t know that and arranging to go back to get them has been difficult. This is partly because they changed locations, but could be a problem for someone who lives far away or on the other side of town.

Love this place. I’ve been back multiple times. This is a great way to spend some fun quality time with family or friends.

I am such a dating geek and loved the idea about coming to this place for a second date with this guy I was dating at the time. At first, I was nervous that the guy wouldn’t be into this and that it would make or break our dating time period. But it turned out to start the FIRE in our relationship (pun intended)! He enjoyed himself so much there that night that we came back the next day and invited my mom to come. It was very clean in there and very welcoming. My mom loved the music played inside and just the entire atmosphere. (Just be patient finding a parking spot if you go on a busy weekend night.)
Oh! And did I mention that in addition to having wonderful memories to think about every time I drink out of my fabulous large mug I made, my date that went with me to Wired and Fired is now MY HUSBAND!!! :-)

This is one of my absolute favorite places in Atlanta, hands down. I love all of the pottery, all of the staff, the fact that you can bring your own food and drinks, and how relaxed everyone is! We always have such memorable experiences here and I’m always trying to figure out the next time I can get up there! My house is quickly filling with hand painted pottery and I CAN’T GET ENOUGH! I NEED MORE! And their selection goes WAY beyond ashtrays and ceramic cats in provocative poses… they have some really funky serving platters, bowls, wine glass holders, mezuzahs, whatever your heart desires! I could never get tired of going to this place. If I was a store, I would be Wired and Fired. I love it. Let’s have babies.

I took Lauren here for some pre-​dinner pottery painting on Valentine’s day. The first step is to pick out your pottery pieces. While some of them are expensive, they also have a whole rack of buy one, get one free pieces which actually has decent stuff on it. After that you pick out your colors — you get four for free although if you want fancy speckled paint you have to pay extra. Finally you paint your piece. They provide a variety of brushes, stencils, templates, etc. to inspire your creativity.
We scheduled to have two hours prior to dinner and that was barely enough time to finish painting, although it depends how elaborate you want to get with your design. But just be aware that time flies and they charge by the hour so I’d schedule at least two hours!
One nice thing is that you can bring in your own wine. I picked up a bottle from Trader Joe’s earlier in the day, and W&F provided glasses and a bottle opener for us! They called us a couple of days later, and we picked the pieces up. They look great and worked very well for some ice cream. Oh yeah, dishwasher and microwave safe is a nice bonus.

Went here for part one of my Valentine’s Day Date and had an awesome time! We each picked out a piece to paint for one another and then got to sit there for a couple of hours working on our master pieces and drinking the great bottle of wine that we brought.
The staff was extremely helpful and stopped by several times to see if we needed more paint, how our progress was going, and just to generally say hello. They had several cool pieces that you could choose to paint and they had a special for Valentine’s Day where you buy one get the second one (of equal or lesser value) free! I looked at their flier and they seem to have good deals like this often — I would definitely call to see if they do before you go!
You can bring your own drinks and also bring in food making this a great spot for dates, girls nights, or just hanging out. I would definitely recommend it for a date though. Jeremy and I had a lot of fun. Our one regret was that we didn’t give ourselves more time there before our dinner reservation. We were there a little over two hours and it was just barely enough time to finish our ice cream bowls. Make sure to schedule enough time. I’d say 2 – 3 hours is about right for a small piece. We get to pick ours up on Thursday (just 5 days after we painted them — not bad) so hopefully they turn out well! =)

Love this place. Just discovered it last week.
It’s quite addicting. After seeing the final product, I’ve gone twice in one week.
Very good for a date. Very good for friends and even kids who need to calm down.
I need to bring a bottle of wine next time.

I found another place up in Discovery Mills. Cheaper than this one AND they don’t charge for your TIME as you paint. Just the object you’re painting. Bill was almost 50 bucks cheaper!

LOVELOVELOVE Wired and Fired! I’ve been there a handful of times and the gals that work there are always great and helpful.
We had a Girls Night there last night. Paul, the store manager, helped to accommodate all 18 of us!!! They accepted a partial deposit (instead of money per EACH person) which was great — It’s really hard to collect money from so many people in just a couple days. but W&F was understanding and flexible with me on that.
Paul made sure to have an extra table top area for all the food and drinks we brought — it was perfect. So we didn’t have to try to fit all the snacks in our painting space.
We had about 6 or 7 bottles of wine and some girls brought paper cups, but W&F has wine glasses to use AND cork screws.
The special they had going on at the time– Buy One Get One Free– was awesome. There was a pretty good selection to choose from for the BOGO deal. Lots of heart pieces for VDay but also some plain things. For the girls, like me, who chose pieces outside of the BOGO selection, there were coupons from the website for «½ hour free.» Which was also helpful. You save just $ 4 with that coupon, but really, any bitta money saved is a good savings, I think. Especially these days.
We trickled in for an 8pm reservation (some of us got caught in traffic.) but Paul and the girls never rushed us. Paul got everyone settled to give us the low-​down on how it all works. W&F has a little schpiel about painting techniques, pottery options, etc that is very helpful and interesting.
We trickled OUT by 11:15 and I feel that everything was taken care of wonderfully.
I’d say pottery pieces range from about $ 3 to $ 40 or $ 50. Honestly I want to say I’ve seen things more expensive than that, but don’t quote me.
You really could pick a small piece and work on it for hours, if you’re just there for the social aspect.
There’s not enough I can say about this place. It’s SO much fun. great for GUYS AND GALS, kids, a date, a party, a girls night or even to go by yourself. whether it’s daytime, the middle of the week, or late on a weekend night!
(In addition, it’s in a GREAT area with a lot of other things to do, most within walking distance — bars, food, shopping, and it is in a nice neighborhood)

I enjoyed my solo visit, then I got a few girlfriends to come join me, the BYOB idea is great. Had a fun fun time. Highly recommend as sometimes, going out to bars can get old… well, we went to a bar after all, but felt «accomplished».

Cool place. Fantastic place to take the kids for some creative fun. Prices are fair and the stuff we’ve made here always turns out great. Very helpful and friendly staff. Actually, Unilocal just reminded me … take the kids there again soon for some fun. Thumbs UP !

Love it! This is a great place to go to hang out and do something productive with friends. I had a great time going on a Sunday afternoon. The staff there is great and very helpful. You can even bring your own beverages… both alcoholic and non-​alcoholic.

Wired and Fired is a great place to go to bring out your inner craftiness without being stressed into buying lots of art supplies that you won’t use often enough to justify the price tag. I was lucky enough to have a couple of friends who worked there who encouraged me to spend hours there. The staff is very friendly and helpful, with loads of good ideas and tips to help your pieces come out in a manner you can be proud of, even when they’re not as good as the models. The place is very inviting, and you can even have food delivered from one of the neighboring restaurants. The only down side is that it’s a little pricey, you have to remember to come back in a week for your pottery.

I’d never been to one of these «paint your own» places before, but had heard only good things, so I went into Wired & Fired with an open mind. I’m glad to say I totally was surprised in a good way!
We went at a time where it was a bit slow, so we were the only people there most of the time. The staff was helpful, but it was annoying that we had to constantly be asking for more paint, so much so that it was a bit awkward after the ninth time I had to ask for yellow paint. The introduction felt a bit rushed and «so boring. do this 798 973 times a day. sigh.» but otherwise the staff was appropriately chatty and helpful.
I’m definitely going back the next time I’m in town– it was a great time and there are a few more items I’d love to paint!
