United States Post Office

Waited in line for 30 minutes on a Saturday for postcard stamps. Two employees and one was chatting with the same man the entire time. Complete waste as they had no postcard stamps, no $ 0.34 or $ 0.01 cent stamps. Total waste of time.

Worst Post Office ever. Our apartment routinely has package slips dropped in the mailbox due to minimal effort to knock on the door for signatures… therefore I am forced to come to this post office for pickup. Over the last two months, I’ve had an expedited shipment from Amazon «unable to be located» in the back, and miraculously found 3 weeks later as I’m trying to pick up another package (also unable to be located and ordered two-​day shipping). The office staff is SUPER RUDE and plainly doesn’t give a shit about finding your mail. If I could have UPS deliver all my mail/​packages, I would… for now, I’ll be shipping things to another location.

Wow! This location has done a complete turn around. The staff is extremely polite and helpful now. Even a worker who had a bad attitude is now nice! They must have been getting complaints and/​or reading their reviews. I want to give them 5 stars but want to make sure the now customer service friendly staff is here to stay!

I came to this post office the other day and I got there a few minutes before it closed. I was waiting in line for a few minutes when the woman at the window noticed me and asked what time I got there. It was a Saturday and the post office closed at 1 so I rushed to get there in time and walked in around 11:55. She asked what I was there for and I showed her that I had 1 box all taped up, addressed and ready to go. She then proceeded to tell me that she would help the three people in front of me but not me because she didn’t believe that I got there in time. At this point I had already been waiting ten minutes and I didn’t understand why she was willing to help the other people past closing time but not me. She kept insisting that I didn’t get there before 1 and she wouldn’t help me. I left without arguing because she was so rude and condescending towards me that I just wanted to get out of there. I will not come back to this post office.

As far as post offices go, this one is standard… older government building, ho-​hum government workers, standard lines, and no free tape (for this, it gets 2 stars). There is always a couple of men (i think they’re men.) that stand outside and open the door for change.
Avoid the lines if you need to ship something and print your own label online and then just walk up to the counter to drop it off. If you must go, bring your own tape!

This post office has a convenient location for me, so it’s the one I use most often when needing to mail packages and buy special stamps. I usually come at 4:30pm on weekdays, because they close at 5pm. Though the lines are usually long at this time, it’s never taken more than 20 minutes. There is one clerk here in particular who is absolutely amazing in getting people through fast! She is the younger, tall African American clerk with the shorter straight hair that works the weekday afternoon shift. If any post office managers are reading this (ha! yeah right), she deserves a raise and a promotion because she is so good at serving customers quickly and with a smile. In fact, she’ll even give you the secret free packing tape they keep behind the counter if your package doesn’t look quite secure.
However, the rest of the experience here is quite lackluster. Their scales are always broken, they’re frequently out of the flat-​rate priority and express boxes and envelopes in certain sizes, and they never have any pens if you need to finish writing an address. Though they do have a small, free parking lot, which is nice, you are guaranteed to be asked for money by at least two homeless people (one on your way in, one on your way out) while you are walking from your car to the door.

This is the best post office in Atlanta. The staff is friendly and as someone mentioned below, it seems to be overstaffed, so you get in and out quickly. Also, it’s kind of out of the way for a lot of people so that just helps on your quick in and out.

This post office makes me want to get violent! You wait in line for over an hour to be helped by the ONLY person «working.» I rarely cuss in public (who are we kidding?!) but I literally had to ask the postal worker to stop touching my purse. It took 20 minutes to make a shipping label for a small package that was already in the box with an address label on it.

I don’t know why the other reviews think this post office is so bad. It’s not amazing, but it works. Sometimes you have to wait for a little while, but that’s usual for the post office.

This place is surprisingly overstaffed for the volume of customers that come here. They seem to have 2 – 3 employees working, so it’s easy to get in and out of here despite their lack of an Automated Postal Center.
I actually forgot all about this location and only remembered after stopping at Walgreens across the street. I planned to leave there and go to the one on W. Peachtree. I’m glad I saw it because I saved some time running errands today.
From the outside it looks closed because the windows are tinted, giving it the appearance of being deserted. Don’t let that fool you because they’re inside and ready to help.
Also, the counters are surprisingly clean, well stocked, and free of debris. When does that ever happen? Normally I’d say never, but they proved me wrong.

hey guess what? its a fucking post office. if you go with proper expectations that it might take a while, that the workers are going to be thrilled to be there (BECAUSE OF THE INSANE CUSTOMERS) and that there may be homeless around then you will be fine. try exercising some patience and common sense.
i am in here all the time and it is usually the customers that act a fool. also, there is no stamp machine and people think they can skip to the front of the line becuase the «just want a stamp» sorry you have to wait in line for that. everyone needs to pull their head out of their ass and realize that they are at the post office and not the hilton

I know Obama is president and the gov’t is giving hand outs to everyone but it doesnt need to allow the homeless to stay inside the post office too. Every time Ive gone theres been homeless inside the post office trying to panhandle and the post office staff does nothing.

Short of the homeless shelter down the street, I think this might be the saddest place in Atlanta.
It’s no wonder the USPS is having problems. Even with the advent of sites like eBay and Overstock and all the rest, the USPS still hasn’t figured out how to be profitable — and in the process, has forgotten what it means to service customers.
This isn’t a new occurrence — I know lots of folks have been having this type of experience. But it bears repeating: I waited 30 minutes to pick up a package, and even then, it was absolute agony. We’re being waited on postal workers who are visibly, palpably weighted down by years of neglect, professional regret and so many other bad-​karma issues. They are disgruntled, grumbly and gruff and no series of niceties or platitudes will rescue them from it.
I don’t know how to inject joy in a joyless enterprise — all I can say is that It’s still just sad here. And there’s absolutely no reason for it — people are still sending packages. The piss-​poor other reviews mean a) people are still going and yet b) the news is still not good for the Post Office.

14. That’s the number of times I’ve called this post office today and either gotten a busy signal or waited for five minutes and had no one answer. I’m not kidding. Five entire minutes of listening to «bring bring bring bring bring.» Even typing it is annoying. And how can this place be alternating between no one answering AND busy signals? That doesn’t even make sense!!! Unless, of course, the times I’m getting a busy signal, it’s other people like myself waiting for five minutes for someone at the office to answer the freaking phone.
Oh, yeah, the reason I’m calling? Because I’ve submitted two change of address forms, been on the phone with my old post office, and spoken to someone at the main postal office number, and everyone agrees that this 570 Piedmont place is the reason I haven’t received any mail in a month. Screw you, 570, you’re now up there with airports, wet socks, and cable companies on the list of things I can’t stand.
UPDATE: I did eventually speak with Pat at this location, and she was very nice. The problem isn’t resolved yet, but I at least got to speak with someone.

I’ve never seen any reason to rate what we all know to be an abysmal place. The U. S Postal Service is hell on earth, but until the system collapses and is replaced with telepathy and sprinkles, it’s all we’ve got.
My encounter at this Post Office today has ensured, however, that I no longer use the Post Office for anything larger than a letter or weighing more than 3 ounces. I had the unfortunate fate of needing Saturday service and this is one of the few locations providing it. I shipped a shoe box-​sized package, artfully decorated.
I’ve been sending mail art for years.
I’ve even worked for the Post Office.
I know how this shit works.
Despite my years of experience and first hand knowledge, I was shocked and dismayed when the callous and sadistic woman behind the counter slapped priority stickers ON TOP of all the art — with three other clean sides available. Bitch buffed me.
Typically, I apply the priority stickers myself to avoid this sort of idiocy. But this location didn’t have them available except to the window clerks themselves. I know working there sucks monkey gonads, and that’s unfortunate, but I now take sweet, sweet pleasure in that.
My mail art will now be delivered by bike couriers with questionable backgrounds and charming smiles.

I try to avoid most post offices as much as I possibly can but I will do almost anything to not have to go to this one (and this is my mail stop so I often cannot avoid it). The lines are horrible here, even when you try to go at non-​peak times and the parking is tough, too. I have actually seen people almost come to blows with each other while waiting in the excruciatingly long line (seriously, they were calling in security to break it up — it was scary). The worst part is that they very often seem to pull someone from an open position to go on break when the line is nearly out the door. I know people need and deserve breaks but it seems like they could maybe try to time them better or maybe have more staff. Overall, the people who work here are pretty nice (there are a few who are downright chipper) but there is one very mean lady who seems to like to make things more difficult. For example, when I was picking up my vacation hold mail once, she asked me if I wanted to renew the hold, and I said «Sure», and then she said «Well, you can’t do that» — why? why? why would she even ask then? And, add to all this, I routinely am asked for money by someone standing or sitting near the door when I go in. I know this happens at a lot of places but when you are going to post office, and you have to go there often, and it is unpleasant already, this just adds to the negative experience.

Oh man! I hate this place. I used to sell pretty heavily on eBay, and this place was my most dreaded daily excursion. I know post offices are notorious for bad service, but this one is the worst. They rarely have more than one person working the counter and lines just build up no matter what time of the day. The lady who wears a tie there is extremely unpleasant to deal with.
With this location serving such a large area, one would think they would do something about the wait problem. Go to the post office on Howell Mill and see how overstaffed they are. People at every station and never a line!
There is only one plus to this location. That is Mosha. Mosha works at the counter, and if you go here, you will know exactly who she is. She is overly friendly/​smiley/​pleasant. She realizes how bad the service is and goes out of her way to make it better. No matter how rude a customer is to her, she is just as friendly as can be. I LOVE MOSHA!!! but hate this post office.
